we dont have a cooking guide yet, and i dont know that we will at any time, i would suggest you ask others near you. also you can try to put the object you want to cut in a container [like a table] and try to use it there.

since it is a wiki for planeshift kerol and the settings team as well as vengeance and the engine team had requested more info to be added so that it could be reviewed by the correct team and to make it easier to access/edit. Also those other sections are not part of the offical guide in the wiki they are seperate sub projects.

what do you mean "update code for Ubuntu 8.1 x64"? The code by default runs on 64 and 32 bit linux operating systems with no changes. Also if you apply the permission fix in the installer it will make it so that you should not need to run the updater in sudo.
It looks like you wanted to "check if my client is up to date" not update the code for anything. also if you have installed in your home folder you DONT need to run anything as root, also it is not a good idea to run apps as root unless you know what they are doing.

check the ubuntu guide for a list of packages needed for that version, and then your task is to find those packages for your distro. there are way too many distros for us to have a list of all package names for each distro.

WINDOWS
1. install Planeshift like any other program
1.a if on Vista do _not_ install in program files folder
we have a sticky in this board that even suggests if on vista to NOT install install in Program Files due to issues. This is the easiest way to work around this issue. It would also seem that since most people have not posted that this fix works for most.

there has been a lot discussion about trash cans and they will not be ingame, due to the fact that people have enough issues with loosing quest items we dont need a trash can they can put them and that would be yet another way.
