General Discussion / FAQ, what do you want to see
« on: July 24, 2008, 03:00:03 pm »
In the process of updating the players guide i need to update http://www.planeshift.it/guide/en/troubleshooting.html . Please suggest any questions to be added that the answers will not change in each release.

Example question

Where are my logs/screenshots saved on my machine

Some of the questions in the guide will have their answers changed please do not suggest that in this thread. This is also open to the GM team to list common questions they get in petitions that have general answers.

General Discussion / anyone have a azerty keyboard?
« on: July 24, 2008, 02:12:26 pm »
In reading the players guide i came across this:

Quote from: Players Guide
Q:
I can't type the @ for my username in the game!

A:
For those using AZERTY keyboards who are unable to type the @ character, try Alt + Ctrl + 2. If it fails, go to the PlaneShift directory and open 'planeshift.cfg'. Edit the line that looks like "Planeshift.Connection.User = m_y@email.blah" to include your email address.

Can anyone confirm for me if this is still an issue or not? If not an issue i would like to remove this with confidence from the guide.

General Discussion / updating players guide
« on: July 19, 2008, 09:35:29 am »
Hi,

Along with the testing team and settings, I am working on updating the players guide on the main site. As many of you know parts of it are very outdated. Right now i want to focus on the lacking crafting section as when it was written there was no crafting ingame. What type of things would you like to see in the guide to help a new player learn the process of crafting without giving out too much info. I dont want to turn this into something that will be outdated the next time they change parts of crafting, just the general info as to what the process steps are. I have http://pswiki.xordan.com/index.php/Players_Guide/Crafting to work with but i am sure if for this purpose that is the right way to do this, and i want input from those that are in the community. I would like to also include some info about cooking.

You are no longer able to marry another character unless your character/account has atleast 24 hours ingame. This is to provent new players from spaming the marriage command/button.

38
Please be careful what you say and do as an advisor. The gms now do have the ability to ban you from using the advisor channel. GMs can also ban you for giving out bad advice if you do it over and over again. All gms can now see all chat that is said in the advisor channel and not just the first reply that is given. All GMs have advisor mode on by default. So keep this in mind as you keep up your advising. You also can not turn on advisor mode till you have 30 HOURS ingame on your account.

Complaint Department / not enough people use the bug tracker
« on: June 17, 2008, 02:51:37 pm »
People are always complaining that things are not getting done yet they dont use the bug tracker to give info to help get things done. What can anyone in the testing or dev teams do [or gm team] to help get more players to report issues and bugs to the tracker? Without anyone reporting issues it takes longer to get them found and hence longer to get them fixed. Right now we have a lot of coding prospects so keep the bugs coming to keep them busy and you will get them fixed. We are here to help you enjoy the game better, in order to do this we need you guys to report your bugs to the tracker. Just using the tracker to report issues related to settings, does not help the engine team make the game better. Remember there are many teams that make up PS and you have to offer help to all of them, So that means it is your job as a player of this game to report any issues you find to the tracker. Stop reporting all issues to the forum and put them on the tracker. Dont be suprised if you are asked to use the forum in some cases, sometimes we can help you better here then on the tracker.

PlaneShift Mods / new stats/skills window
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:33:02 am »
Hi,

I have taken some time to work on the stats/skills window, here is how far i have gotten so far, I have fixed the gray font color to white for the stats/skills names. Please let me know what you think. I plan if i get good feedback to submit this to a dev to get it commit ed. It did require some code changes so would be a bit hard to distribute to you guys to use on laanx now. I figured that we have the info window that shows us our hp and such why have it again the stats/skill window so it got removed to save space, as well as removing the podium doll. I am open to possibly adding the total hp, mana, stamina values back if you think it should be there.

« on: March 29, 2008, 08:09:40 am »
i know many of you have wanted a better window for working on your crafting [the container window] Well here it is
Put this code in /data/gui/containerdesc.xml [open with any text editor] over ride all that is there with the new info here. THIS HAS NOT BEEN TESTED ON ALL SKINS

Code: [Select]
<widget_description>

    <widget name="ContainerDescWindow" factory="pawsContainerDescWindow"
            visible="no" movable="yes">
        <frame x="100" y="100" width="310" height="280" border="yes"/>
        <bgimage resource="Container Desc Background" />

General Discussion / Do you think the Label font size is too large?
« on: March 18, 2008, 06:22:45 am »
Do you think that the label size ingame is too big?

There is a change you can do to make them smaller:
in your ps folder go to data/effects/misc/ and open label.eff in any text editor

find the line that looks like
Code: [Select]
<obj type="label" name="label" labelwidth="2.0" material="mat_labelfonttable" sizefile="/this/data/effects/misc/glyphs_baar_sophia.xml">
change the 2 in labelwidth to something smaller and it will make the labels smaller ingame. I personally use labelwidth="1"

Save this file and DO NOT change anything else in the file.

As a few have noticed their custom to Mac keys are not the same in this release. To fix this take the follow and paste it in the file controls.xml in /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/PlaneShift/options

Code: [Select]
<controls>
    <bind action="Forward" key="w" />
    <bind action="Backward" key="s" />
    <bind action="Rotate left" key="a" />
    <bind action="Rotate right" key="d" />
    <bind action="Strafe left" key="q" />
    <bind action="Strafe right" key="e" />
    <bind action="Brightness up" key="F12" />
    <bind action="Brightness down" key="F11" />
    <bind action="Brightness reset" key="F10" />
    <bind action="Forward (sec)" key="Up" />
    <bind action="Backward (sec)" key="Down" />
    <bind action="Rotate left (sec)" key="Left" />
    <bind action="Rotate right (sec)" key="Right" />
    <bind action="Strafe left (sec)" key="" />
    <bind action="Strafe right (sec)" key="" />
    <bind action="Run" key="Shift" />
    <bind action="AutoMove" key="n" />
    <bind action="MouseMove" key="" />
    <bind action="Sneak" key="Alt" />
    <bind action="ToggleRun" key="v" />
    <bind action="Jump" key="Space" />
    <bind action="Sit" key="z" />
    <bind action="Look up" key="PgUp" />
    <bind action="Look down" key="PgDn" />
    <bind action="Zoom in" key="ScrollUp" />
    <bind action="Zoom out" key="ScrollDown" />
    <bind action="Camera mode" key="m" />
    <bind action="Center camera" key="x" />
    <bind action="CameraForward/Back" key="" />
    <bind action="MouseLook" key="MiddleClick" />
    <bind action="Toggle MouseLook" key="Tab" />
    <bind action="Buddy" key="b" />
    <bind action="Buy" key="" />
    <bind action="Communications" key="" />
    <bind action="Help" key="F1" />
    <bind action="Inventory" key="i" />
    <bind action="Options" key="o" />
    <bind action="Quit" key="Alt+q" />
    <bind action="Spell book" key="c" />
    <bind action="Stats" key="p" />
    <bind action="Toggle chat" key="Enter" />
    <bind action="Reply tell" key="f" />
    <bind action="Close" key="Esc" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 1" key="1" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 2" key="2" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 3" key="3" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 4" key="4" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 5" key="5" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 6" key="6" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 7" key="7" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 8" key="8" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 9" key="9" />
    <bind action="Shortcut 10" key="0" />
</controls>

Over ride all that you see with this and you should be set to go

To fix your mouse so that control click works in that same folder you will want to edit mouse.xml and put the following in it:
Code: [Select]
<mouse>
    <Actions action="ContextMenu" button="0" modifier="2"/>
    <Actions action="EntitySelect" button="0" modifier="0"/>
     <Actions action="EntityDragDrop" button="0" modifier="0"/>
     <Actions action="EntityDragDropOne" button="0" modifier="1"/>
     <Actions action="EntityDragDropAll" button="0" modifier="2"/>
    <OnOff   option="InvertMouse" value="0"/>
    <Int     option="VertSensitivity" value="70"/>
    <Int     option="HorzSensitivity" value="70"/>
</mouse>

Enjoy!!
