General Discussion / why does run not work anymore? (client release .4.000)

In this release autorun has been replaced with "automove" default key "r". Your old friend run can still be found, but it will take a keystroke more to get him back. There is a new movement named "togglerun" by default left control. If you wish to run you need to toggle your toggle run key and things will now work in reverse then as they did before, walking will be running and running will be walking [the keys you would press], So if you want to run and you have toggled "togglerun" you will now just have to press your "automove" key or just use your arrow keys. To change back just press your "togglerun" button again.

Remember if you wish to run using the old "autorun" key you must toggle "togglerun" first.

You can now run with only your arrow keys!

General Discussion / New Group Window (client release .4.000)

We have already started to get some bugs on the new group window, So i am trying to help you understand what is going on. The devs want a more minimalistic gui so the start of this was to bring you guys a brand new buddy window. The testers have taken a lot of time trying to get some changes made to this window but overall the function of the window and the look has not changed since it was added to SVN several months ago. When you first open the window you will only see a scrollbar there is no way to disable this and there is no background for this window like the others have. You will notice that there is nothing in the window untill you go and invite someone to your group, but just a sec where did that invite button go?? If you right click on it [or control click for you mac users, yes that works in this release in several places] you will see the options you are looking for, invite leave and disband. You will also notice there is no title bar in this window so the only way to close it is to leave your group, disband your group or use the icon on the toolbar to close the group window. One improvment in this window we have made since it was introduced is a background for the names of the members of the groups, in light colored maps it was very hard to read the names so you have that as one fix to this window since it was made.

Please add any ideas for fixing this window or patches to the bug linked above. I believe both the testers and the Devs are willing to look into other options for making this and other windows look better to let us know if you have ideas.

The Mac Devs have requested anyone that runs ps on a mac to vote in this poll. If you do not vote and things are changed it may mean in the future you may not be able to play ps on older macs.

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / are you stuck in the new guild hall and cant load your character???

There are a few bugs here so read this whole post and dont ask a gm to help you or your character will have problems.

open your planeshift folder then the art folder then world and rename gh_law.zip to guildlaw.zip

[if you are on windoze and dont show file extensions dont add the .zip to the name

now go and load the new map where you character is stuck and use the door located in the back of the new map to exit, if you dont do this and bypass this by having a gm restore your character you will not be able to see anyone around you

Please be nice to the guild that now owns this map and dont enter it if you have this bug unless they invite you to join them till this bug is fixed

Wish list / Select new guild leader

Many guilds have been formed and had to be disbanned or left idle because the guild leader left the game forever or they have just left without telling their guild why for a long time. During the time there is no active guild leader many guilds in this position have had problems and needed to disband [not all have the abilty] or they have picked to restart the guild. It would be nice for a GM after lets say 2 months of inactivty on the part of the guild leader to be able to pick any player [alt of a member or anyone the guild picks] to take over as leader and the current leader to be demoted to the next lowest lvl below leader. This is a major problem for these guilds and it would be very nice to have this ablity as a GM do add a new leader to the guild so they can go on with the guild and not have to disband or leave the guild and rebuild it from scratch.

Please consider adding this for the next release it is not something to be used often but when used will save a lot of hassle for the guilds that need it.

Mac OSX Specific Issues / always run...

When playing around with ps we found that if you add

System.RunWhenNotFocused = true to your psclient.cfg file when you run mac you will not get that paused when you tab out of game and lose focus on the game. You can thanks Trymm for testing this on his intel mac to verify that it works. [no i did not find this but i am posting it so you can all benefit from it]

General Discussion / Quests and discarding them

It seems a few people have noticed that ingame you can no longer discard some quests. This is due to a change in the code that makes it impossible to discard a quest if you can only do it one time. I am not making this post to have you guys debate this topic as I dont even know if this is a permant change or a tempory one I am only making this post to make sure you the players know about this and dont ask the gms why you cant discard your quests. I personally dont like it as it affects gms in the same way and we have to test the quests to make sure they dont have bugs and if they do and they can only be done one time i cant discard the broken quest to start the new fixed one to see if it is 100% working. [when a quest is fixed it has to be discarded and restarted to get the new quest after a server crash]

I know many of you have complained about the problems with the forest road. Well finally i got Talad to upload the fixed map so you can all now get to the magicshop without problems. Download this map www.planeshift.it/download/temp/hydlaa_plaza.zip Place it in your planeshift/art/world folder do not unzip it just override the old map that is there.

FYI as the forum got updated we now have RSS Feeds from the forum. I know a lot of you will not want to get a feed that includes all forums you can modify the feed for certain boards like this:

Hi,
This is what our guild Ruby Reign is all about.

Goal: The Ruby Reign guild unites all people that are in search of something of Yliakum.
You can search for:
Merchants, goods, jobs, friends, problems to solve, knowledge, a place to live - or briefly: Your meaning of life in Yliakum.
We help anyone that needs it:
That includes giving weapons to newbies (if and only if you can afford it)
Showing newbies around the game
Helping anyone that needs it to the best of your ability

Alignment: Lawful good, but the guild protects the goals of the guild. This may include actions that are forbidden by the current laws.

History: The guild was created during the ruby rain and is therefore called Ruby Reign.

Members: The guild welcomes anybody who is interested in searching for things and helping anyone that is in need of help in anyone you can. We do not require anyone to be a massive role-player. It is nice to see members of the guild role-playing but it not a requirement to be here and you will not be kicked out of the guild if you do not role-play at all. One rule everyone needs to follow is that you will share an NPC with anyone that comes up and asked it is just polite to do so.

Allies: We do not accept alliances because of complications that might come from it. We might have alliances out side of what is listed in the alliance section of the guild window. As of now we are an ?Alliance? with the protectors.

Enemies: The guild tries to avoid conflicts with other persons or guilds, but if the guild or its interests are threatened, we stand united and protect our self.
