General Discussion / Re: Accessible props on a timer
« on: March 22, 2009, 07:00:42 am »
On a negative note, I understand why it's implemented (or meant to be). Too many times have I seen a string of apples through the plaza leading to a stall, Slags left around the furnace, and other 'litter' such as books left as advertising.

this is a BUG it will be fixed, there is nothing sad about it, it went forgotten for years and no one noticed it was broken, now it is being fixed and we hope will be fixed very soon so that there are no issues, but it takes a lot of time for major bugs like this to be fixed in the correct way. The person that is working on this is very busy atm as well most of the team so the fixes on this will have to wait a bit longer. I dont see a reason to apply a work-around to add an OOC tag of who dropped each item, that would have to then be coded to remove that tag on pickup of all items, which would take a lot of work.

no i dont take offence, unless i see issue, and this amount of edits is not needed, for that matter i think a lot of the info you have added is not really needed. a basic players guide is more then enough to have on this wiki. info about each town and npc/pc is not really needed we have resources ingame to get that info.

Keep in mind that just because you see a "creature" ingame, that does not mean it is a "creature" according to settings, glads, thugs and other such npcs should not be included in that catagory. Also telling people where to find locations like the sewers are spoilers, this includes where to find npcs.

[edit]

also last i spoke to xillix he did not want his prospects working on the wiki, but to work on their tasks to that they dont post info they should not, and use their time more wisely.

the quest logs there, dont tell much about the more complex quests. Also the info there is very basic. So i would suggest to take notes as you go and add them to the quest logs there. Otherwise all you can do is read your logs from the log files.

Keep in mind that the wiki is supposed to be a player's guide, like the one you get with your PS install, not a spoiler list.

Right so all spoilers get removed from the wiki as it is an official source of information.

remember the quest log does not fill in automatically, you have to fill it in. not always do you get any info about exactly what to do by looking in the quest log.

please do not post email address without a nospam feature due to bots and crawling websites also best to link to http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=31760.0 as it explains more about what to do when submiting the reports.

also helps to list your system stats when reporting a crash as that may help us determine what is wrong and suggest fixes.

Linux Specific Issues / Re: GM GUI Client crash!!
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:13:11 am »
make sure you have the correct data for your version of the client dont mix data from release/stable/trunk. there are changes that can and well cause crashes. also make sure your server is the same revision as the client you are trying to use.

what are your system stats?

Linux Specific Issues / Re: No Sound, Source Compile, Ubuntu 8.10

Any way to make this permanent?

not recommended due to the fact that your build can change and that path may change. make a txt file with the lines in it, then before you launch psclient type "source <filename>" and you are done.

Code: [Select]
./psclient: error while loading shared libraries: libcal3d.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

make sure you do all the exports and export LD_LIBRARY as well

you  MUST DO this each and EVERY time you close your console/terminal.

update your source, and unzip whatever skin you want to use into a folder with that same name in the folder where the zips are. if you are building trunk you are now in unsupported territory.
