The Hydlaa Plaza / Missing Child

I received a forwarded email from my brother appealing for everyone to spread the word about Madeleine McCann. I thought I would reach more people in Europe by posting here. Madeleine's uncle says:

"As you are aware my niece, Madeleine, is still missing and I am asking everyone I know to send this as a chain letter i.e. you send it to everyone you know and ask them to do the same, as the story is only being covered in Britain, Eire and Portugal. We don't believe that she is in Portugal anymore and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible. Suggestions are welcome." Phil McCann

General Discussion / What is the role of GMs

Ok hear goes.

 How many do we have, do they work on a roster system, or pop in and out when they feel like it ?

 Why  is it to get a GM normally in game you have to go on IRC to find them ?

 The only time you see more than two is when there are new features being added, or a Role Play drama going on.

 At the moment there are three regular GMs on line, who do their very best to keep things running smoothly. Hats off to those three.

 But the question is why should only three do this , when there are more who could be on line ?

 To be honest most of the time there is no GM on line at all why ?

General Discussion / An Invitation to all Guild Leaders

Rules For Duelling

 I ask all guild leaders to enter this discussion so that a set of rules can be agreed upon and these rules can be posted in individual guild forums and adhered to by all parties.

My thoughts are as follows:

1. No duelling in the plaza or tavern at all, or anywhere that is well populated. (Unless by a prearranged audience)
 
2. A verbal challenge is made giving a) reason for challenge b) weapons preferred (including fists) c) whether magic/potions should/shouldn\'t be used d) place and time e) whether to have seconds

3.The challengee may countermand b), c), d) and/or e) above. The challenge is then verbally accepted/declined.

4. When the conditions discussed in 2. and 3. have been met, the duel should begin - both the Challenger and the Challengee should place themselves at a convenient length facing each other.

5. For training purposes go to an empty room in the arena or away from areas which are busy, where parties can challenge each other as much as they wish. (This may suit those who like to fight each other for fun)

6. In the case of a guild war terms should be drawn up and agreed between the leaders of the warring guilds. Bearing in mind that rule 1. should always apply.

7. If you use the PvP system for your RP fights, then any form of exploitation is not allowed. Commodities like shortcuts may be used for convenience, but not for speed.

General Discussion / In the Tavern

It is great to have a tavern in game but they are usually one of the hubs of the community and this one isn\'t. Unless someone organises a gathering it is usually dead.

1 Until we can actually sit down there should be fewer tables so we have more space to gather in.

2 There should be an NPC behind the bar actually selling drinks and food. There are already mugs in game so this can\'t be difficult to implement.

3 I would like to see one or two NPCs in there with whom one can play chess, dominoes or something. (Back to the game within a game idea, but not cards, although it could be fun to be able to play poker with other players (I wonder about the complexity of the programming)).

4 Janner would like to see \"serving wenches\", I said I couldn\'t say that but how about players doing stints at serving drinks could be a good way for newbies to earn some tria.

I would love to be able to walk in there at any time and find it buzzing with activity and chatter about all sorts, just like a real pub. :D

Mac OSX Specific Issues / HELP!! Please

I have followed the instructions carefully but every time I try to start up psclient it immediately quits (well after about 3 seconds).

Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Updater

Every time I run the updater it downloads everything again; all art and data; 170.8 MB worth.

Can it really be necessary to download all that for every single update?

I have an Apple Macintosh Dual 1 GHz PowerPC G4, 2MB L3 cache per processor.
