Boo Hoo! What about Asia and Australia? We NEVER get 'primetime' events over here. Right now, the vast majority of PS players ARE FROM EUROPE!!!!

The same things that were announced in Dajoji's forum thread could have been announced in-game. Since we don't have NPCs who could announce it, a world-shout should do it instead. Of course, it would be nicer to see an NPC in every town, unfolding a scroll and shouting news at the crowds. But we can only use what we have. And a worldshout in-game is better than a forum post, and even more IC in my opinion.

That said, it would be simple for settings to have the guards mention official events when people walk past them, but only things that the guards would actually know, of course.

PvP,PK and Thieving / Re: Duelling improvements

How would lag influence the 10 seconds thing? And what about suprise attacks? This makes them practically impossible.
Good question.

I'm a fan of realism and having many options possible so I don't like the idea of a countdown timer personally. If you don't want to get killed from behind, surround yourself with trusted people and don't offer your back to someone you can't trust. Or just keep auto-accept disabled. :P As for actual duels .. I find it sufficient to start a duel far enough away from eachother so you see when they move and don't accept it before you are ready.

What if it could be enabled by an option (e.g. /duel -t [# of seconds till start] )?

BTW, there is a feature request for this feature here: FS#1569: Duel countdown. So if you wish to see this feature IG and have nothing else to add here, then please sign-up for an account on the bugtracker and vote for it. Lots of votes won't mean that it will definitely be implemented but it will make devs pay more attention to it.

I think the free website hosting Xordan is offering in this post should be given to guilds which have been approved by settings.

Complaint Department / Re: Riddles in quests

It is quite clear from the text of the riddle that the 'chest' mentioned is the 'big box' type of chest, I think your alternative solutions are just plain wrong. Nice guesses but still wrong guesses. I do agree though that the answers should be recognised by the NPC and I have seen this very thing in other riddle-containing quests.

Complaint Department / Re: no climbing anymore? Great :(
« on: July 04, 2008, 09:13:35 pm »
Reading over this thread I almost feel like what you people call "climbing" would have been a valid feature that got removed..
You guys got used to a buggy behaviour, and even enjoyed abusing it - now you complain it got fixed? Bad luck guys, get used to it  :P

Actually, I quite enjoyed 'abusing' this bug too. It was lots of fun climbing in the BD and the more I think about it, a 'feature' very similar to that bug would make an excellent implementation of the climbing skill.

Remember.... people were having FUN climbing and that is what this is all supposed to be about. Fun fun fun.

"What would you do if you were the settings leader?"

I would surrender my position to the awesome one.  :surrender:

I think the musical instrument skill is the most interesting. I should add that both Lockpicking and Empathy are currently implemented but aren't very useful.

I love the idea.

Favouritism shouldn't be an issue if there is a transparent approval process, the only reason a guild who applied wouldn't get accepted is if that guilds background is incompatible with  settings. I say, go for it XilliX xD

An Ylian with broad shoulders and bright red hair approaches Eurac. "I am Artisian Hooke and I will fight in your competition."

[Great idea! I assume there will be no armour allowed?]

Just thought I'd point out that in Linux at least, there is no way to navigate to the directory (/home/user/.PlaneShift) where the logs are stored. As I'm sure you would concede, this is a major flaw ;) Still, great idea. Hope you continue with it :)

How bad is the lag in a guildhouse?

I get hardly any lag in guildhouses since steel blue, it was really bad in CB though.

It's a great idea, however, I always seem to get lag in that area and in Hydlaa in general, so I only go there if I absolutely have to.
Does anyone else get this?
BTW. this is not a complaint. I'm just interested to know if anyone else has the same problem.

Marty

I also get uberlag in the plaza. Great idea, hope it works out. I doubt I'll be there because I'm GMT+11 though. Good luck!
