Newbie Help (Start Here) / steel stock vs metallurgy

Hi!
For a quest, I need 2 steel stock. Someone told me what raw material I needed to make it, but told me I needed metallurgy to make it. Now, I can train metallurgy, but I don't think I can practise it to get the first skill level.
So, is there any way I can get metallurgy or do I have to ask other players to make the steel stock for me?
Note that I cannot carry enough material to make 2 steel stock, so I would have to find someone to make me one, then go mine again to get the raw material to make another and I would probably need to find someone else to make the second steel stock. On the other hand, most players in this game seem friendly, so it may not be too difficult to find someone to do it.
