Anyone here know how something looks when it's steampunky...
I'm in the midst of making a trainstation on my minecraft server or rather redesigning an old one and i'd like to make it have a steampunk look cause of the fantasy feeling my server has.

Atm i've gotten so far that it looks victorian but that's about it and it's not done anyway but if anyone knows then please post.

IMO the thing that most screams steampunk is improvisation added to the Victorian look. Lots of exposed seemingly ad-hoc machinery. Anachronism is almost required. If you can figure out how to do a coal powered mobile phone you are a steampunk god.

Wish list / Re: Weather - Time
« on: May 16, 2013, 08:06:15 am »
Incrementing date and time could enable other features. Char who age. Mobs that have seasonal behavior changes. An ability to record history as it occurs IG. Time limited quests. Seasonal changes to harvesting and plant gathering. Some lakes and streams could be seasonal. (impassable in the spring, dry in the winter) The ability to schedule crystal eclipses. It would also allow for holidays and other calendar days that events could be hung off of.

Wow. Time is useful!  ;D

I've been here for quite some time, having started on ezpc with Ellis. I guess my idea of role-play isn't the same as some others because I never enjoyed text-based rp. I like to rp what I can see and do in this 3D game. If I am a problem here, I can always leave.

Please don't you add a lot to the game. And I'd like to point out that your wedding was an RP high point for the game. A huge event with large crowds present. Don't let the endless unproductive snarking get to you.

All right then. Can we agree that a new player left because they were treated rudely, but without malice on the part of the player? And that this was mentioned with what was intended as constructive criticism? Maybe then we can get to lessons learned and stop focusing on hurt feelings. The suggestion on adding a [bracketed] line at the top of the main desc was useful, and was accepted by the player who inadvertently caused the noob to leave. But the core issue seems to be just how IC do we need to be when dealing with noobs. Can we extend ourselves OOC to encourage and train them into good PS RPers and how much OOC is too much? I suspect this will continue to be a contentious discussion but I believe it to be one worth having.

A tall female figure approaches the board. She is cloaked, hooded, masked and gloved. She appears to read the items on the board, then pins one of her own up. It reads:

The One Guild continues to advocate discussions to refine and improve our laws. We also continue to await the response and input of the Octarchy in this matter. Together we will make Yliakum even stronger and more just than it is now.

Wish list / Re: Mosaic / Grafitti / poster item
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:01:53 pm »
If I had meant what I said, rather than what I meant that would be correct.  I meant that it would be editable, like a book, but creating the image would require a source external to plane shift. and then the file could be loaded to a player's mosaic, poster, or grafitto. The end result would be no more disruptive than hanging a book on the wall.

I was wondering if a flat transparent graphic (editable outside the game) could be created as an item for decorating spaces and public postings. I was thinking the identical item with different names could serve as mosaic for decorating guild houses, posters to be hung on walls, and graffiti that can easily be scrubbed off walls. I don't know how achievable that is, but it seems like a good way for players to alter the look of the game without touching the underlying artwork.

Putting gem setting into a jewelry skill would make enchanted armor more difficult to create. However if this pushes us to interact and trade instead of standing silently around a forge it would be a good thing IMHO.  :innocent:
