A pity. I hoped friendship was more important to you.

Especially real friends. Not only virtual friends a.k.a. statistics.

But if trolling is more important, then indeed, no sense in this thread.

But if trolling is more important, then indeed, no sense in this thread.

Rush not to belittle trolling. This is a forum on the internet, ipso facto, there shall be trolling. One wishes to point out that literature is replete with trollers, some of whom - Swift comes to mind - produced work one now regards as cornerstones of the canon. In days of yore of course trollers were called "satirists", a moniker one suspects lent their trolling an air of respectability, but do not be misled about the content of their work. In lieu of the aforementioned I suggest we analyse the content of the trolling first, lest we judge too swift and too harshly.

Having said that, clearly Messrs "Dadela" and "Rhateru" trolling is indeed talentless, brainless and worthless, deserving nothing but round condemnation. Thus I metaphorically spit on both your shoes, gentlemen.

* Rhateru grins in delight. "Why thank yeeeou, Ah needed some cleaner shoes!" The foolish elf then scratches his head and thinks for a time before replying, "Ah ain't agains' friendship, misters, but Ah don't think anybody could've wrote somethin' heer funnier'n what dadela did!"

Your shoes are no cleaner or dirtier than before. Come back when you understand metaphors.

I offer LigH a cold beer, in a tavern full of hot women.

LigH rightly advocates the importance of real friendship with real people, and rightly highlights the meaninglessness of online "friendships", referring to them rightly as "statistics".

Then he drinks an online beer.

Well, it's as close as I can get.

When you visit me next time, I'll be glad to have a real drink with you; but I fear our distance may be too big to make that probable. And my purse is too empty to afford a visit from my side...

Members of the german community used to meet several times during the last years. Even short vacations are fun together with similar minded people.

P.S.: Online friends are not meaningless, as long as they are more than just a number. Here you have to tell quantity from quality as well.

And the most important attribute of good friends: They have an own opinion. Which is not necessarily equal to mine. This can help discovering flaws in mine.

The wiki page says:
The exchange of Friendship Day gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.

Perhaps a particular flower in PS could be nick-named: the flower of friendship

That flower would then be given to symbolise new and continuing friendships.
