In-Game Roleplay Events / Imperial Guard combat training
« on: June 21, 2008, 07:28:34 am »
Next to the Hydlaa Headquarters of the Empire, you can see a small tent erected with some leaflets hanging out.

Quote
The Octarchal Decree of 425 AY

By decree, let these codes of law be known throughout the land:

VI. Male, female and Kran children shall be made to fight with sticks and throw stones at targets from the earliest age that they can do so. Our world is harsh and citizens of the Octarchy must be more so.

VII. Once an adult, all peoples must seek and provide monies for at least one year of weapons and armor training.

VIII. All citizens must be always prepared to protect themselves and defend their property.

To uphold the law and will of the Octarchy the Imperial Guard organises weapons training for all citizens of Yliakum.

This training is intended for young and old citizens that have had little prior chance to be trained in the combat arts. The course will be given by experienced soldiers and trainers, who will focus on an approach for beginners. Topics that can be expected to show up are:

- Encountering wild creatures.
- Combat awareness.
- Arming yourself.
- Staff fighting.
- Teamwork.
- ...

The first course will be free of charge and equipment, as well as refreshments will be provided by the Empire.

To ensure that we have enough equipment for all participants we request that those who are interested in attending this course leave their name at the Imperial Headquarters in Guildhall square, Hydlaa.

Signed,

Warlord Klarm.

The tent is manned by an Imperial who greets you and explains that he  accepts registrations or will gladly answer any questions that may arise.

(OOC: This is an RP event hosted by the Dark Empire and intended for newer roleplayers or older characters with little combat experience. I won't be focussing on game mechanics or PvP. Instead this will be a group training, based on roleplay for the most part and supplemented with some game mechanics. It's not meant for those with high combat oriented skills already and it's definitely not a tournament to see who's the best. You can expect some degree of military discipline though since the Imperial Guard is hosting. :P

It will be held on sunday the 29th, around 19:00 GMT just outside of the Hydlaa Arena.

If you're interested just drop me a PM or reply to this thread. Since I'll be providing equipment for everyone who wants to join, I'll be needing to know some numbers. :D

P.S.: I'll be looking for one or two potential teachers as well, depending on the interest. They'll be tested by Hwnae personally to see if they have what it takes.)

Guilds Forum / [Guild] Dakkru's Will

Dakkru's Will

Not long after I completed my writings on the nature of death and dying, a brooding sense of unease came over me. I tried to rest to relieve this tension but it was for nothing. The tension became more and more palpable with each passing moment. I became troubled by an ache in my head that grew so intense that it made me desire to cut it off. This persisted first for an hour, then six, then two days! On the second day, the books of my library began to fall from the shelves, and as I touched them the shadows began to move. They danced and flickered wickedly. A dangerously strong wind began to rise and the pages of books flipped in the heavy gust. The wind gained force and I remembered:

 â€˜The Eclipse!’

From the vortex stepped the most frighteningly beautiful being these old eyes have ever seen. Even blinded by pain as I was, Her image cut through. A form lithe and strong, with a shimmering cloak of long, sharp-edged splinters of ruby, emerald, diamond, platinum and silver, all strung together with impossibly fine strands of orichalc and rattling in a soft cacophonic hymn. A glorious headdress of crystal shards crowned such perfection as all the world of the living could hope for in death. Her lustrous skin was the whitish blue of the drowned, but in no way besmirched. Her eyes, irises like green halos encircled unfathomable pupils.

Her voice was whispered, child-like, yet it shook the room with Her power.

“I am Dakkru.â€

Testimony of Londris Kolaim

-----------------------------------------

The Will of Dakkru is a religious group devoted to the Goddess of the Death Realm. It is not a religion for the faint of heart or the weak spirited, since Dakkru is mostly praised through taking the lives of others, or giving your own. All who have made it their profession to kill: executioners, soldiers, warriors, murderers, assassins; and those who wield the fearsome power of death: tyrants, oppressors, Necromancers, Dark Way mages; should pay homage to Dakkru.

She reigns over the Realm of the Dead with her followers, led by Londris, Rulayne and Oriven. From that dark realm, she controls the Black Crystal shards and sends out her faithful to bring more souls under her wings. Those who find themselves ending up in her realm would be wise to respect the Lady Death and her ilk, lest their God keeps them safe even there. Atheists and follower of the mysterious Black Flame shouldn't count on any sympathy from the faithful of Dakkru, not in the world of the living and definitely not in the Death Realm.

Goals

  • Spreading the religion: The main purpose of Dakkru's Will is to spread the Goddess' word and gather her followers. Both in the realm of the Living and the Death Realm itself.
  • Purging the godless: By Dakkru's will, her followers will show no quarter to Atheists and Black Flame cultists. These people will be brought down to the Death Realm, facing Her judgement. Those who worship other, weaker Gods may stand a small chance to pass under her sight, without drawing attention to themselves.
  • Cultivating the Black Crystals: As the Antagonist of the Azure Sun, the Black Crystal resides in the Death Realm. It is fragmented now and it's shards spread throughout the realm, some tainted by unknown sources. Dakkru reclaimed the shards as her own and we, her faithful, will protect and cultivate these shards for her.
  • Building a Grand Arena: It is the Will of the Goddess that her followers erect a place to worship and honor Dakkru. Unlike other religions this will not become a temple but a grand Arena devoted to Her reign: Death. We gather the resources and manpower needed to complete this task.
  • Feeding the Death Realm: Our home is found in the Realm of the Dead, where Dakkru rules supreme. The Goddess', and with it our own, power grows with every soul that joins her kingdom. She counts on her followers to maintain a constant flow of death out of the land of the living, sending souls into her cold embrace.

Ranks

"Join our ranks before Death's icy talons pierce your heart ... for they always will." -- The Black Augur.

  • Acolyte: Those new to the religion will make up this rank until they prove their dedication and knowledge.
  • Sanguine: After you have proven your worth and undergone the necessary rituals, from which there is no turning back, you will become Sanguine. These faithful, bonded by blood, further prove their dedication and chose a path which will bring them closer to the Goddess Dakkru.
  • Bloodbringer: Followers of Dakkru who are renown for their skills in physical combat and killing. Be they gladiators, soldiers, cutthroats or assassins.
  • Painbringer: These are the worshippers of the Goddess of Death that excel in bringing death and chaos through magic. Mostly Dark and Red Way mages as well as practitioners of the illegal art known as Necromancy.
  • Deathbringer: Deathbringers are elected from the lower 'Bringers', because of their excellence in spreading death and chaos among the heretics. These 'Bringers' have proven to be invaluable and a potent tool for the Goddess, throughout their years of service. They are the elite of the faithful and purge the godless.
  • Tomekeeper: The Tomekeepers are the equivalent of priests, working under Londris Kolaim. These faithful oversee rituals, store knowledge and spread the word of Dakkru. They usually reside in the Death Realm for the majority of their time, which can be very, very long.
  • Crystal Warden: Crystal Wardens are skilled in the arts of magic, whose task is to protect, study and draw power from the Black Crystal shard spread throughout the Realm of the Dead. They follow Oriven Thamal's lead, aside from Dakkru's herself.
  • Harbinger: Harbingers are a chosen few in charge of spreading the Will of Dakkru in the realm of the living. They control the 'Bringer' Forces and seek out potential additions among the living or the dead, with Rulayne Ogrin's guidance.
  • Black Augur: A Title that goes to the leader of the Will, in which Tomekeepers, Crystal Wardens and Harbingers reside as his advisors. The Black Augur is rumored to have powers, surpassed only by those of Dakkru herself.

OOC

We are a new roleplaying guild, based on the new religion of Dakkru. Please do not apply if you are not interested in roleplaying a balanced character and following the settings.  At the moment we are looking for more members so that the guild can be created in-game. We also look for someone skilled enough and interested in leading 'Dakkru's Will'.

If you have questions about whether or not your character is suited for this religion, use the list of advantages and disadvantages of our guild below and ask yourself if your character can live with them. By the way, the disadvantages are not something you’ll be able to ignore at your leisure. We definitely encourage those among us who are not so lawful but be fair and suffer the consequences of your deeds. That being said it is perfectly possible to worship Dakkru and stick to the law as well.

Benefits
- Killing others and dueling is something you have no issues with and possibly even enjoy. (within reasonable limits of course, it's still a game after all)
- The Death Realm is your home, therefore dying shouldn't be feared much.
- You enjoy access to the Black Crystals and arcane knowledge, for Red, Dark Way mages and necromancers.

Disadvantages
- You will possibly be disliked and distrusted by most people.
- Guards can arrest you on sight and will definitely give you a hard time if you choose the criminal path.
- You are possibly restricted to less populated areas, as you build a reputation for yourself.
- The Death Realm may become a permanent home for older members.
- You are likely to get your ass kicked many times over.

General Discussion / Character test
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:58:22 am »
The Mary-Sue Litmus Test

This is something I came across incidentally when browsing fantasy stories but I think it can be used to inspect our character's RP background and description. The test isn't completely accurate since it is meant to be used for written fiction, in all sorts of settings but I still found it useful to take.

For clarification ...

Mary-Sue is a pejorative term that is used for some stereotypical fictional characters. It also means that the characters are usually unrealistic in terms of abilities and general personality. Either they are too black and white or they simply lack flaws/realism.

I took the test for one of my most used characters and scored a 46, which'd mean I still have some work to do with making him more unique and realistic :P And there I was thinking it was one of the better characters I made so I'd say the test is pretty critical.

Complaint Department / Octarchal Auction (Discussion)
« on: September 09, 2007, 12:32:08 pm »
*Disclaimer: This is going to be very sensitive content but I'm writing here only because I want to see things improve, not to start any attacks or immature whining.

To be honest I was rather disappointed by the way this auction was handled in-game. Since it got announced in the roleplaying board this time I assumed it would at least be some worthwhile event. Instead it turned out to be an amateuristic half IC/half OOC auction which could have been handled better in several aspects.

My main disappointment is that the GM's are supposed to give us all a good example when it comes to roleplaying but I've seen many player run auctions being handled much, much better than this one.

I'll make a list of things I personally would have done differently, hoping that it'll be read before this thread gets out of hand and hoping even harder that it will be remembered for the next time.

1. Provide some protection at least. This is an auction being held by the Vigesimi's son, in which there will be biddings for millions of tria. Obviously the gathered crowd has huge amounts of money on them but all I spotted was one single guard. Would it have been that hard to either move the auction to a more secured place or at least spawn some NPC guards in the vicinity? I was surprised it didn't turn into a bloodbath right away, knowing the amount of criminals that roams around in the city.

2. Interact with the rest of the players. I've seen players who were discontent (for reasons that are included in this post as well as others) have their characters throw rotten fruit at the auctioneer, others shouted their discontent publically but all in a decent roleplaying fashion. They were simply ignored until it got too bad, when the guard present gave them a warning. Personally I would have called the guards, cancelled the auction and arrested anyone I'd even suspect of trouble when someone threw rotten tomatoes at my head.
I know that a big event like this isn't easy to handle and it's not so obvious that we can take everything into account but I feel that there was a lot ignored which harmed the feeling of immersion and roleplaying atmosphere.

3. Why do we have an auction channel? The entire auction happened in shouts and apparently according to lag a large part of it was lost in between the casual chat. We have separate tabs to keep these things apart. I don't understand why they weren't used. If you want to argue for realism sake, then I have to disagree. My brain allows me to concentrate on a specific source of sound and drown out all background chatter easily. I see the separate tabs as a similar mechanic.

4. Talad wanting to be at his own auction I can definitely understand but the way he did it was rather confusing and again harmed the roleplaying atmosphere. For starters a character with the name Talad Priest is not only directly against the naming policy but considering that only the first name shows up in chat, it made me think that Talad himself came down among the mortals to speak his mind. Interfering with the auction in a clearly OOC manner in main chat without bothering to use brackets afterwards didn't quite help either. I can understand that the urgency made him ignore his own guidelines but still ... I wonder if it couldn't have been handled better?
I would have prefered it if Talad took control over another character that was more in place or watched and orchestrated everything from behind the scenes. I know he is very busy with the creation of this game and he has done a great job so far. But I always thought of Talad as an advocate of roleplay and what I've seen in this event was anything but advocating good roleplay.

... after this I left the auction but from what I understood a lot of players planned an IC revolt against the way these auctions are handled.

Personally I disagree with trying to handle an OOC problem IC and chose to come here to voice my issues. I wish I also had something positive to say about this event but to be honest, it was one of the worser auctions I attended. However I hope that my criticism won't be a cause to give up and instead helps towards making the next events better. We're all learning here and I'm certain that some people underestimate the difficulties of organizing something like this, especially when you have a lot of work waiting on you.

I'll try to be at the next one and hopefully I'll enjoy it more then.

Complaint Department / My opinion on the economic issue
« on: August 17, 2007, 06:34:22 am »
Yeah, yeah .. yet another thread whining about how screwed up our PS economy is. I don't want to whine though, I'd like to point out what, according to me, the underlying problem is for a lot of issues regarding balancing, player vs npc economy and earning money.

Problem:

A huge imbalance between the cost of goods (player economy) and the cost of daily life (NPC economy)

Lets look at things with an example:

price of one sword: 250 tria (goods)
price of maintaining that sword: 40 tria x 5 = 200 tria (daily life)
price of one level of swords training: 42 tria x 8 = 336 tria (daily life)

Now if we take into consideration that a sword is an investment, which only has to be bought once and that training and maintenance is, for most of us, a continuous expense ... everyone will agree that the huge majority of generated tria will go out to daily life expenses and very little to purchasing goods.

When we look at players vs NPC's, we are mainly able to produce or obtain goods which we can sell (I'll go into repairing a bit later since that's something we ruined for ourselves). There is already a limited demand (because of the above reason) for these but the offer is also too large (npc merchants + looting) for it to be profitable in a player economy. Us players can only be the giving party in the largest tria consumer of all, training.

So all in all, 99% of the income we make as players is flushed through to the NPC's, disappearing forever. This leaves a player run economy very little room to breathe.

Some suggestions I have to change this ..

For players:

- Stop repairing armor and weapons for free, you're killing our largest economical asset :P

For Devs
- Allow players to pitch in on the recieving end of skill training. Let them train skills to others up to the level which they posses. (or atleast reduce skill training costs substantially)
- Remove a substantial portion of the goods supply by making all lootable items not directly useable. Loot should only be in the form of resources or tria. Weapons or armor looted from NPC's can't be worn or wielded. It'll only serve as a source of resources for weapon or armor smiths.
- Raise the NPC price of (non-starter) goods so that players can actually offer them cheaper and still have something out of it.

I recently recieved an item which supposedly allowed me to understand the Derghir language. This item doesn't seem to be doing anything for me at all though. I have tried equiping it, "/use" and even giving the item to the NPC I wanted to talk to. I've also heard from other people that their item doesn't work either.

Now I'm not sure if this is a bug or just some content which isn't implemented yet .. or maybe a consequence of the NPC client being loopy .. so I figured I'd mention it here first.

Technical Help: IN GAME bugs (after loading world) / Quest issue
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:23:56 am »
I got a quest from Lorytia Starhammer long ago, after leaving it be I decided to complete it .. without much difficulty until I got to a point where I was stuck. I searched a lot and eventually asked help from those who completed the quest already. Problem was what they told me to do/say didn't work still. Since there is no other quest involving Lorytia on my book I knew this wasn't a conflicting quests issue. So I just waited around until we could discard quests again and discarded it as soon as we could, a few weeks back.

I heard that once-in-a-lifetime quests still couldn't be discarded so there was no issue. Then I went back to there to get my quest again and complete it right this time .. but nothing yet. So I wait, go to try again every few days for a couple weeks, sometimes waiting around for an hour or so, but still nothing. Now I'm starting to consider the possibility of my character still being bugged regarding this specific NPC. With an alt I had no trouble getting the quest again, nor do I have any trouble with other NPCs.

Is it possible that I'm out of luck and this quest just has a long lockout timer or could I really be experiencing a bug here?

10
This isn't really a problem, more of a request.

I have a few extensive character descriptions I'd like to save in case of a *beep* so I was wondering if there would be some place where I could copy or save them easily. Are they stored on our computers or only on the server?

The latter will mean retyping them completely ...

A tall, bulky Kran clad in shiny plate armor with the crest of Vaalnor on his chest and shield makes his way to the fountain of Laanx in the plaza. He looks up at the god, grumps quietly and slaps a worn piece of paper onto the rocks, holding it in place with some wax.

The paper reads:

Quote
Whoevever recieves this, please hurry and bring it to the nearest authorities. Many lives are at stake.

Border Fortress at Bronze Doors under siege. We need reïnforcements, urgently!

...

The bottom of the paper is drenched in rat blood and has become unreadable but it seemed to have been directions.

Tyrnal puts a piece of freshly written parchment next to the distress call and looks around over the crowd. People going about their normal lives ... merchants selling wares, townspeople walking on and off, a group of men and women heading to the temple to pray. He hopes that there are enough adventurers around to help him with his cause.

Quote
The Community of Vaalnor is organising an expedition to the Bronze Doors. We come here from Ojaveda to ask for assistance in this task. All explorers, warriors, healers, crafters and generally everyone who can be of assistance is welcome. The expedition departs from Hydlaa in a few days. We will be bringing many supplies, weapons, food and potions to reïnforce the Fortress so we will travel slowly but hope to reach the Bronze doors on the night of the second day, after our departure.

Signed,

Induane Lazumi, Vaalnor Council member

OOC:

This is an RP exploration in group, free for everyone to join. We'll be travelling to the Bronze doors at our own pace while making plenty of detours to explore most likely. It is meant to be a fun experience and is going to take some time. There is also a storyline behind it but this can still develop in many directions and everyone is very welcome to add their part to the story.

Also if anyone is interested in playing the bad guys over at the Fortress, or the garisson stationed there that would be great. No worries if those positions stay open though, I have some ideas for that scenario as well and improvising is fun.

The date will be this sunday, the 9th of July and it will probably take place around 10 pm GMT. The time can vary depending on how many can make it and are online but we want as many people as possible able to make it.

Hopefully I'll see many of you in Hydlaa plaza and I'm certain we'll all have a fun experience exploring the new maps and roleplaying as well.

Wish list / New plane to shift to
« on: June 18, 2006, 01:42:49 pm »
I was thinking about adding new playing field to the game of planeshift. This suggestion is one for the far future and a rather huge change but something that I think would be a very unique attribution to the game.

Right now we have two realms, Yliakum and the Death Realm. I was thinking about another realm, only accessible by powerful magic, which opens up a whole new range of possibilities. Lets call it the Twilight Realm for now (don't feel like thinking up an original name at the moment but feel free to make better suggestions :p). This would be a realm that lies somewhere between Yliakum and the Death Realm .. between life and death. It's a world of energy which the practiced mage's mind can enter. Only those with enough skill can go there after performing an elaborate ritual.

This plane could look like the normal world but with different colors and have a bit less solid shape. I'm thinking something along the line of giving everything a sort of shiny aura and/or some fisheye vision when you're in this plane. You can also see the people who are still in the normal planes but then as shadows and you normally wouldn't be visible to them nor able to communicate with them. Physical damage would be unknown here and weapons don't serve any purpose. In fact you wouldn't be able to equip any physical object. Instead only magic can be used here, be it at a much greater effect and maybe even with completely different results. Physical health would also be replaced with mana and mental skills determine your abilities in this realm. There would be NPC's unique to this realm, the peaceful and harmful kind. Some creatures could even be present in both realms at the same time, they can see and attack players in Yliakum as well as this Twilight Realm. Another thing about this place would be that you could travel a whole lot faster, perhaps even fly around freely. Of course your body wouldn't be moving, only your mind would so while you can explore this realm quickly or move somewhere to meet up with others, you can't move your character's body and inventory. When you leave the realm you'd be back at the same place than where you started out. It could be possible for highly, highly skilled mages to completely move to this realm. This could be used as a way to teleport from one place to another in Yliakum, more or less .. or even to move from Yliakum to the Death Realm without really dying.

A new realm like this can also bring a whole new set of skills with it. Like the ability to see those in the twilight realm and communicate with them without actually entering the realm itself. Of course a skill that determines how easily you can enter the realm, at a low skill you'd need to perform extensive rituals with many rare magical attributes while at higher levels you could more easily access this place. At very high levels it could even be possible to move someone else there as well, maybe even against their will so that a mage can kill off a great warrior by moving the warrior to the Twilight Realm. There could be skills that allow you to move around faster in there. A skill that lets you change shape in this realm or summon non-physical weapons and attributes. And so on ...

You can really go anywhere with this but I think that's enough for now ... in short, I'd like to see a magical realm where other rules apply and only the mind matters.

General Discussion / The grand balance of good vs evil
« on: May 22, 2006, 02:14:26 am »
I've been thinking a bit lately, yeah I know bad idea but bear with me :P

There have always been complaints about not having enough evil characters or no roleplaying possibilities for evil characters. When I wander around a bit in-game now though I don't see anything but the wicked. Outlaws, Cult of the Dark Crystal, the Dark Vigilantes, Disciples of Darkness and so on ... I'm not sure where this sudden explosion of evil alligned guilds comes from but there is still something missing. When I'm walking around I see evil names everywhere but no evil doing. For example in the recent player event, Monk created the good guys hugely outnumbered the bad guys.

I think that if everyone really played their role though, Yliakum as we know it would be one scary place to walk around in without an armed escort of twenty men. Until now most people just run along doing the same thing though, since there isn't much you can do in planeshift, maybe that's good for us good guys :D

Anyways I was wondering how everyone else saw the balance between good and evil in the game right now? And what can be done to improve it or work with it? I'll post some more ideas later when I have the time.

Wish list / Buddy List structure
« on: May 14, 2006, 04:49:53 am »
I've done a search on this and haven't found any direct relation to my wish so here goes ...

I'd like to see the possibility to add groups to your buddy list. Right now I have rather filled lists on most of my characters, usually people that contacted me for an order of some kind or an arrangement and I only rarely meet. So I often end up forgetting why I added someone to my buddy list again or who they are. Hence it'd be very handy if I could group my buddies in sections like "friends", "enemies", "customers", ...

If I'm not making myself clear, have that happen a lot :P, think MSN messenger type of structure ;)

In-Game Roleplay Events / [RP] Vaal Guard Reports
« on: May 07, 2006, 11:09:25 am »
[Tyrnal Relhorn]

In a small dusty office building somewhere in Ojaveda, lies the headquarters of the Vaal Guard. You would be suprised if anyone besides yourself now and the Captain ever set foot in here or even know where to find the place. The dim room is only lit by the few rays of sunlight that come through one small window carved into the thick walls. After your eyes adjust to the darkness for a few moments you make out an old wooden desk with pieces of parchment scattered across them. Most of the writings are either written by someone who could barely write or became unreadable because of all the ink stains.

After throwing a few papers aside you stumble upon a neatly tied bundle addressed to Ojaveda's Vigesimi. It appears to be a collection of reports from the Vaal Guard, written by Tyrnal Relhorn himself. You look behind you at the half-open heavy wooden door and are tempted to leave this cold, dusty place behind you. Part of you is curious about the life of a Vaal Guard though, that part, from back when you were a little child playing guard and criminal with your friends, is strangely intrigued in the content of the duty reports lying on the wooden table. Eventually the inner child wins and you decide to satisfy your curiosity when you carefully untie the bundle and start reading ...

Report by: Tyrnal Relhorn, Vaal Guard Captain
Date: The thirty second of Kravaan

Today the Vaal Guard got reïnforced with a new recruit, a witty male Enkidukai named Freko. He aspires to become a member of the Vaal Guard support unit with his knowledge of crystal way magic. I've personally taken him on patrol duty with me to test his abilities.  The Enki apparently had his own fighting equipment, which was quite decent in my opinion, however his combat skills wouldn't have allowed him to do anything more than exterminating vermin in Akkaio's warehouses. All in all Freko turned out to be a fine addition with his magical abilities and very polite behaviour. He definitely passed the initial tests and has been admitted to the Vaal Guard. I have given him his equipment and adviced him to follow a tough training schedule to get his combat skills up to par.

I have big plans with Freko when the Vaal Guard expands ...

The city patrol went smoothly with the support of our newest Guard. We've only had to take care of some rogues who were threatening the townspeople.

This evening our merchant Thromdir Shoake and his wife, Bessa were brutally stabbed to death by a band of rogues, right before closing time. Luckily Freko was nearby and he rushed towards the scene after hearing some screams. When he got there the killers had already disappeared but couldn't find the time to take any of the store's inventory with them. The only damage done besides the double murder were some stained and torn carpets.

Thromdir and his wife have managed to return to us from the Death Realm in the meanwhile so they are back at work in the Vaalnor Supply Shop.

You turn the page ...

Report by: Tyrnal Relhorn, Vaal Guard Captain
Date: The first of Quintahl

The Vaalnor council has decided that from now on every Vaalnor Merchant standing behind the counter has to be accompagnied by at least one Vaal Guard member, on duty infront of his or her shop. This new rule came in place after the repeated rogue attacks. In the past few days two different merchants were robbed by rogues. Besides a few bags of cloth and some cheap trinkets they didn't manage to get away with anything.

Today the Supply Shop was guarded by myself, Freko and two volunteers from Vaalnor, Archon and Jekkar. We've managed to prevent several new robbery attempts and killed a handful of rogues who resisted arrest. That should get the message across and hopefully they'll cease their attempts.

You turn the page ...

Report by: Tyrnal Relhorn, Vaal Guard Captain
Date: The fifth of Quintahl

I've had a minor dispute with one of the Enkidukai Outlaws named Sezrenade today. Apparently they feel that this city should be run by Enkidukai and they don't seem too fond with the prospect of a lawful Ojaveda. Sezrenade blamed us for not being there when the townspeople needed us and even though most of his hatred is quite unfounded he does bring up a valid point. The Vaal Guard is seriously undermanned and in our current capacity we are unable to keep the city of Ojaveda as safe as we would like.

A few hours later I am approached by another Outlaw, Drah and also Sezrenade appeared at his partner's side soon after. Both Enkidukai were rather angry and once again had no good feelings towards the Vaal Guard. It seems that one of our newer Vaalnor members had threatened the Outlaws and told them to stay away from Ojaveda in a moment of idiocy. Since I was busy fending off rogues I didn't respond to their furious threats. However I will need to have a word with Rethius about pushing Vaalnor into unwanted conflicts.

Our actions regarding the Outlaws will remain the same as every other Ojavedan citizen. We don't regard them as an enemy and even though they'll never accept it they deserve the protection of our Guards, as long as they respect the law we uphold. I have given my fellow Guards the advice to be extra alert. Should they decide to try and work us out with force despite everything, we will not be caught unprepared. For now I will leave things as they are but if this incident escalates any further I'll have to ask the Vaalnor Council to send an ambassador to clear things out with these Outlaws.

Only a short while after I had returned to my post infront of the gates of Akkaio I heard hatefilled shouts echoing through the streets. A certain Enkidukai, named Skreit didn't seem to be satisfied over the results of the tournament he participated in in Hydlaa and was calling his adversary, Vaice out for a duel. Since the Vigesimi has outlawed any form of duels within the city walls I attempted to calm both tempers and prevent any bloodshed. Some Enkidukai tribes hold honor as a very high value and are used to solving disputes with duels to the death so it was not easy for me to convince both parties to lower their weapons. Luckily I managed to convince them to take their fight outside of the city limits though so that nobody lost their face and I was not forced to arrest anyone.

We have gained yet another valuable member of the community, Archon. He has decided to serve in the Vaal Guard to defend his community members aside from his position in the Council and tasks as a Vaalnor Shop Inventory Manager. Since Archon has served as a volunteer on guard duty in the past I saw no problem with assigning him as a Guard right away. I will probably even promote him as soon as we need a better hierarchy within our Guard unit.
