Wish list / Re: Bring back the Tria
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:06:34 am »

I would like to point out a few decisions the devs team has already discussed about:

- "making resources more scarce", "reducing drop rates", "moving harvest zones to more remote locations": we have no plans for that and mineable and harvestable zones are present in every map, should we move some harvestable zones it will be done to better fit settings needs or to fix bugs not to make peoples life harder
- "prevent people harvesting stuff by just picking them from ground": some respawn rates for plants are admittedly too fast, should we tweak it a bit is only to better balance the system (remember, an out of balance factor may bring in issues that otherwise would not exist)
- "Add a hunger system, and raise hunger level faster if character is doing physical labour and also a hunger sickness": we already discussed this point and we don't want to introduce a hunger system that would penalize RPers and could be a potential trouble for everyone; we instead think food should give beneficial effects and we recently introduced a new system of buffs/debuffs for food. We also added the indigestion capabilities to add a gameplay element and balance the food buffs in the process. Physical work (crafting system) already drains the character stamina and food helps to restore it (as long as some potion and some spell) so there is already a synergy between work-food.

The tweaks you've mentioned are indeed good and certainly does not impede players' fun at all. ^_^

I was actually talking about "making resources more scarce", "reducing drop rates", "moving harvest zones to more remote locations", "prevent people harvesting stuff by just picking them from ground", "Add a hunger system, and raise hunger level faster if character is doing physical labour and also a hunger sickness"

These ideas, while providing some sort of remedy to the problem that Zalya had addressed, are also adding to the difficulty level of the game. They are all good ideas which add up to the realism of the game, but in the end, there are many players who dislike the "Hard" difficulty setting.

No offence intended, but I would like to remind you guys/girls of something: PS is a game, not a RL simulation. We are here to have fun, not grind. We already do grind in our real lives. We should first look at the things that may unsettle the game balance IMO.

And I'd like to say that I don't agree with some of the ideas that if implemented, would cause people spend more time to achieve same amount of in-game-reward. Not that I'm saying those ideas are not realistic, or bad, but they are not appealing either. A person who sleeps 8 hours a day, and works 8 hours a day only has a mere 8 hours left to himself/herself. When we include the daily-activities such as dining, bathing etc. not much free time is left. Time may be the only limited source in Hydlaa, but it is also the most sensitive topic to be tampered with, IMO.

Me too, love the idea. It would also enhance RP experience, in my opinion.

Same here, I'm finally able to login again, after uninstalling then reinstalling. Thanks for the advice.

Seems like I'm having login problems after update too. Tried repair, tried creating a new character, but no avail, after loading bar reaches to %100, game crashes. Any advices?

I like Venalan's system too. We get to keep conventional direction names, and a way to tell directions with a very simple method. Sound like a win-win to me.

If I recall correctly, East Gate is named after a famous Vigessimi named "[nameIdon'tremembernow] East" so it is not a direction, but a name.

Raithen should have some info about "How can one access to the Winch area" because the winch door still reads "Please see Raithen for access"

Yliakum is, by all means, different from Earth. By different I mean everything, its races, its plants, its topology, geography, climate, everything. A compass or other navigation terms and themes won't apply to Yliakum IMO. We should use something totally different. Something depth and angle based maybe. But a compass would be inappropriate for Yliakum. And probably wouldn't work either.

Done some more examination around. In order to play this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiVV_DQ9zNs you need to be able to play songs up to 240 bpm (because of the 8th notes the song have) and if I calculated correctly, you will neet a musical instruments skill of 185 in order to play songs that fast. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

While this one is probably impossible to play http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJEvp8Y83NA because of the three 16th note it has.

Someone really needs to take a look at music skills. These songs are not THAT hard to play. I'll RP my music scenes instead of actually playing it, until it gets fixed.

Actually, today I saw someone who is "very excelled in arcane arts, honed body and mind and would provide a serious challenge in combat" or something like that. How did that happen I wonder.

As a side note, you can make a song twice as fast if you use 16th notes in place of 8th notes and 8th notes in place of quater notes.  Assuming your original song didn't have 16th notes to begin with.

That's odd, I was really sure that I've posted a reply to this topic. Anyway, that does not work. Let's assume you are limited to play songs of 70 bpm. When you add 8th notes, game pulls that limit down to 35, and if you add a 16th, voila, your limit is now 18 bpm. :(

At least, that is what happens to me.

I've just noticed that even if you're a child of Exceptional Musician parents, and have dabbled in music in your childhood activities, most skill you can start with is something around 13.

My musicianship skill is 15 now, and if I stick to quarter notes, I'm limited to 73 bpm. Isn't it a bit TOO low? Even without any actual training, I myself could play melodies with quarter notes at more than 140 bpm when I was young, and with relative ease.  Wouldn't it be better if it is a bit higher?

Or maybe a system simulating learning a song. For example, you set the song's bpm to 140, but when you play it, it first starts at, lets say, 80 bpm. Then as you play it over and over, your character learns how to play that song, and gradually improves his/her speed to match 140 bpm, the first set tempo. Doesn't it sound more realistic?

Edit: I've managed to acquire level 16 upon character creation, yet that is not much either :D
