General Discussion / Re: Kran nouns, both amateur and pro
« on: September 26, 2018, 08:15:55 pm »
Now, I had a question for you:  with an older post in this thread, you said that ‘kraselves’ sounded better to you than did ‘kranselves’; does that have something to do with Finnish vowels?  I don't know much about Finnish phonology, so I don't know how frequently the ‘ns’ combination occurs.
Well, it could be. After several secondsof thinking i couldn't figure any word with 'ns' combination so i suppose it's not that often. But most propably it's just me being me since now i'm really confident kranselves is way better for it's consistency and makes way more sence.

Again, thank you for your useful comments, Dihilin.  Do not think that I do not appreciate them simply because I disagree — although, as you say, the plural cases could certainly be cut from the proposal if people don't like the vowel change.
Thanks for you, good that actually someone has the effort to think about the nouns and whatnot language things. You said you are intrested in linguistics? Ever considered about the language projects in the wiki?

Wish list / Re: More informative Trainer interface
« on: September 26, 2018, 08:07:52 pm »
Well, what can i say. The whole training thing is kind of dead and it's not going to be 100% similar in the unreal version. You could look for the streams in youtube to see sneakpeeks of them as i don't remember the details. But yeah currently it's a bit annoying that you can't know which NPC is a real trainer and which is not.

      subjective   objective, directly or indirectly
nominative, singular   kra (she, he)    kran (her, him)
nominative, plural   kre (they)   kren (them)
possessive, determiner, singular   kral (her, his)
possessive, determiner, plural   krel (their)
possessive, genitive, singular      kraln (hers, his)
possessive, genitive, plural      kreln (theirs)
reflexive, singular      kran-self (herself, himself)
reflexive, plural      kren-selves (themselves)
Do we really need all of these? I mean i don't have any sort of doctorship in english but do we have something this race specific like do we have nominative plural for cats like cets? It doesn't seen to make any sense to have race specific. Having gender specific eg. he/she/kra does make sense but do we need those others for real.

gemmite
an unborn kran fetus
I'm really nitpicking here but does Kran even have fetuses? If there isn't a word for those maybe adding a word for that aswell?  :D maybe Kratus lmao

General Discussion / Re: Trepor Greet Lockout
« on: September 26, 2018, 03:09:47 pm »
Perhaps there ought be a way to filter messages by regex?  I'll look into whether a UE4 add–on can be built to do so.  The big difficulty would be designing it in a way that is accomodating to users who don't know regular expressions, Perl–compatible or otherwise.
People who don't know regex should just learn some, it's usefull in general and it's not that rocket science to learn the basics.

Development Deliberation / Dev Q&A Aug 26 2018 logs
« on: August 26, 2018, 04:25:52 pm »
Asked to post these so here they are

(23:02:24) Mordaan says: Trying to get the fps to 0?? :P
(23:04:25) Mordaan says: Hmm, what was that all about?
(23:04:45) Menille greets one and all
(23:05:31) Zarre says: New volunteer job for you here Gonger?
(23:05:34) Mordaan says: I had to reboot too, I lagged out.
(23:08:02) Dutewe says: me too
(23:08:33) Talad says: Hi
(23:08:41) Mordaan says: Hi Talad
(23:08:44) Dilihin says: yo
(23:08:49) Zarre says: Hey Talad
(23:09:19) Dutewe says: Hi Talad
(23:09:33) Talad says: did you have good holidays?
(23:09:41) Dutewe says: short
(23:09:42) Migg says: :)
(23:10:47) Famiel says: yes, what happened yesterday it seems like a late event posting something about a damaged kra?
(23:11:49) Gonger says: Yes, Famiel. It was a nice fast event. And we saved kra!
(23:13:12) Famiel says: aw i missed it, was it a late event added to the caladar?
(23:13:17) Talad says: anyone has questions or comments?
(23:13:28) Talad says: I can give you an update of unreal engine port
(23:13:38) Gonger says: Yes, Famiel. I think it was added only Friday or Saturday.
(23:13:53) Dutewe says: i want to say my apologies for last time
(23:14:06) Famiel says: so the day before or day of? maybe
(23:14:08) Talad says: in the last two weeks I've been in holidaus, but managed to get some time for PS, and start to import items in Unreal Engine
(23:14:25) Gonger says: I will relog, still have terrible lag.
(23:14:36) Talad says: the main part has been to convert all items from the old formats
(23:14:47) Talad says: actually more than 400 objects were converted
(23:14:59) Talad says: also we have found some art which was never used or completed
(23:15:03) Talad says: and so we added that as well
(23:15:43) Talad says: now I'm making some test to see how to manage traits of characters and the different types of visuals
(23:16:07) Mordaan says: visuals?
(23:16:09) Talad says: most of the core functions are in place, but still requires some work to make it "enjoyable" and to port the rest of the missing pieces
(23:16:33) Talad says: with visuals I mean the variations of textures, example a steel falchion vs a golden one
(23:16:40) Mordaan says: ah
(23:16:51) Talad says: there are specific ways to manage that in Unreal, and I'm learning / implementing that
(23:17:33) Talad says: after the 3d files are properly prepared, addition to Unreal is more or less a drag and drop
(23:18:00) Talad says: after this pass of importing items, I will refine combat and import more NPCs and monsters
(23:18:16) Talad says: this is pretty much the status
(23:18:35) Mordaan says: sounds like good progress
(23:18:42) Dutewe says: of course
(23:18:45) Zarre says: Yes it does
(23:19:03) Migg says: great news!
(23:19:31) Dutewe says: regarding stats and skill?
(23:19:44) Mordaan pokes Uadjet who is still invisible
(23:19:55) Mordaan says: :)
(23:19:57) Uadjet says: Oops. Thanks.
(23:20:06) Uadjet says: Forgot to turn that off after relogging.
(23:20:12) Famiel says: hey Uadjet
(23:20:19) Migg says: pity to hide that ban hammer
(23:21:19) Famiel says: :3
(23:21:38) Dutewe says: mau i propose something please
(23:21:55) Mordaan says: Talad: have you figured out how to use texture (or UV, I forget how) to have the same items look different?
(23:22:18) Mordaan says: like robes, for instance
(23:22:35) Zarre says: As in different colored armor?
(23:22:39) Mordaan says: yes
(23:22:48) Migg says: that would be cool
(23:23:11) Mordaan says: that was something coveted in the move to UE
(23:23:32) Mordaan says: with the talk of importing items, made me think of that
(23:24:32) Famiel says: sorry i just wanted to look
(23:24:45) Dutewe says: mau i propose something please
(23:24:52) Uadjet says: Sure
(23:24:55) Dutewe says: regarding stats and skill?
(23:25:09) Dutewe says: for the bodydev
(23:25:11) Uadjet says: This is the time and place
(23:25:38) Dutewe says: can we match the bodydev with the weight that you carry
(23:25:43) Dutewe says: exemple i dig
(23:25:57) Dutewe says: my weight max is
(23:26:12) Dutewe says: if i reach more than half means
(23:26:23) Dutewe says: 150
(23:26:37) Dutewe says: mean i start the bodydev
(23:26:55) Dutewe says: most of the time you must get injurie
(23:27:17) Dutewe says: or jump from the bridge
(23:27:26) Famiel says: like if you add strenth you get body dev too?
(23:27:38) Uadjet says: Okay, you're suggesting that players get training in body development from physical activiites?
(23:27:38) Dutewe says: yes
(23:27:46) Dutewe says: yes too
(23:27:54) Uadjet says: I know that's been suggested, but I think implementation is...complex.
(23:27:58) Dutewe says: will be more realistic
(23:28:22) Uadjet says: And yeah, I know that the Elder Scrolls games, for example, had something like that.
(23:28:43) Dilihin says: tho levelling those in oblivion is not much more funner tbh
(23:29:25) Dutewe says: this for the first question
(23:29:29) Dutewe says: 2nd
(23:29:42) Dutewe says: quick question
(23:30:07) Dutewe says: can we able to make a musician groups session
(23:30:13) Dutewe says: why*?
(23:30:25) Uadjet says: What, you didn't like swimming into a corner and then going afk to eat dinner?
(23:30:31) Dutewe says: because last event it was very hard to sync
(23:30:39) Uadjet says: That's true.
(23:30:48) Uadjet says: There was actually some discussion on that last meeting.
(23:30:53) Mordaan says: Yes, that has been talked about often.
(23:31:09) Mordaan says: Comes down to someone working on it and implementing.
(23:31:12) Dutewe says: if we have one date cell to match the start with the clock of the server
(23:31:31) Mordaan says: Probably something that would have to wait until a UE client.
(23:31:46) Dutewe says: all musician match the same hours
(23:31:54) Uadjet says: The consensus was that while it isn't at the top of the list, it should be possible to have a group auto-synch playing music, so the players all join in a group and select the music to play, and the music will all start when the last person in the group hits play.
(23:31:56) Uadjet says: I think.
(23:31:57) Dutewe says: and start all sametime
(23:32:41) Dilihin says: IIRC it can be done but not for a while, there's much more priorities atm
(23:33:51) Dutewe says: exactly
(23:34:23) Dutewe says: will be more funny
(23:34:35) Dutewe says: and atrractive
(23:34:44) Talad says: Mordaan I saw only now your question, that is what I'm working on about "visual variations" , not done yet, but on the good track
(23:34:48) Talad says: I think will be finished tomorrow evening
(23:35:04) Mordaan says: ah cool, thanks.
(23:35:45) Famiel says: i had a quick question about energy, is anyone else running out like they should be?
(23:36:24) Famiel says: i have to relog
(23:36:28) Famiel says: soon
(23:36:28) Uadjet says: You mean while running?
(23:36:31) Famiel says: yeah
(23:36:32) Gonger says: Because of a known bug I sometimes lose all my physical energy while standing.
(23:36:47) Mordaan says: I've had that happen.
(23:36:57) Famiel says: i seem to be able to run forever even with a lot of stuff
(23:37:16) Mordaan says: Hmm, sudden "expanded gas tank"? :)
(23:37:45) Famiel says: it's more like a glitch it seems no not deplete at all
(23:38:03) Gonger says: Run or walk, Famiel? I do run low when running long distance, like to Ojaveda.
(23:38:08) Famiel says: not to*
(23:38:14) Famiel says: run
(23:38:18) Gonger says: Not so when walking.
(23:38:32) Famiel says: not sure when walking i never walk
(23:38:41) Dutewe says: it is match with bodydev
(23:38:44) Gonger says: True :) Me neither.
(23:38:44) Uadjet says: With high enough stats physical stamina recovers faster than running can deplete it, it seems.
(23:39:12) Gonger says: It probably also depends on the total weight you are carrying. As a miner, I am often on really heavy load.
(23:39:22) Dutewe says: true
(23:39:29) Famiel says: i know but it seems like i got tired before, now i dont at all
(23:39:30) Dutewe says: many time for me
(23:39:54) Dutewe says: after huge digging
(23:39:58) Dilihin says: with max stats you can run without running out with something over 100 weight
(23:40:01) Mordaan says: Is your bodydev level much higher now?
(23:40:25) Famiel says: no difference, it has always been maxed
(23:40:57) Dutewe says: now i reach 68 and nothing
(23:41:02) Famiel says: it might be a glitch that i get, it just skips the effect of getting tired at all
(23:41:50) Dutewe says: we need to perform some test
(23:42:00) Famiel says: i should go for a run
(23:42:20) Dutewe says: from hydla to fortress
(23:42:53) Dutewe says: empty and after full
(23:43:12) Famiel says: i have to relog and i will run
(23:46:31) Dutewe says: quick question
(23:46:45) Uadjet says: go ahead
(23:46:58) Dutewe says: when we work on the furnace
(23:47:30) Dutewe says: we have only the possibility to drop all ore by hand 10 by 10
(23:47:47) Dutewe says: and after take the ingot 1 by 10
(23:47:54) Dutewe says: 1 by 1
(23:48:26) Dutewe says: can we get some additional commande line
(23:48:37) Dutewe says: to make some shortcut
(23:48:54) Dutewe says: to select in inventory quickly
(23:49:54) Dutewe says: because we need to much time when the inetory is full of ores
(23:50:02) Dutewe says: or other
(23:50:50) Mordaan says: We have discussed things like that now and again, like having a ctl+click pick up or command equivalents to transferring from container to inventory.
(23:50:53) Uadjet says: You can use /equip and /dequip to move specified amounts into your hand slots
(23:50:55) Uadjet says: For some items
(23:51:02) Uadjet says: I think it works for ores and ingots.
(23:51:39) Uadjet says: like '/equip 8 iron ore righhand' and anothe line equippping coal to the lefthand
(23:52:23) Dutewe says: no, because the transfert is between the quench and the inventory and after the inventory to the furnace, and after...
(23:52:50) Dutewe says: i will try
(23:52:56) Dutewe says: merci
(23:53:09) Uadjet says: Oh, it's '/equip 8 righthand "iron ore"'
(23:53:14) Mordaan says: that's another thing I have long wished for, the ability to transfer from container to container, without having to go through inventory.
(23:53:20) Dutewe says: how we can drop int the furnace
(23:53:41) Uadjet says: So /equip, then the quantity, then the slotname, then the item name which needs to be in quotation marks if it has more than one word to it.
(23:54:07) Dutewe says: oooooooooooooooooookeep in touch
(23:54:13) Uadjet says: Ctrl-click to drag the small stack into the container all at once.
(23:54:38) Uadjet says: Although batch crafting should make that easier. Does that work for smelting?
(23:56:21) Dutewe think about one book will be welcom
(23:58:46) Uadjet says: Anything else?
(23:59:40) Dutewe says: yes and sorry
(00:00:23) Dutewe says: regading the color of the stone incrusted on the magic staff
(00:00:37) Dutewe says: it is bleu
(00:00:44) Dutewe says: for each way
(00:01:21) Dutewe says: can we get the color IAW the way
(00:01:55) Mordaan says: that's where the feature I asked about earlier would come into play.
(00:02:10) Dutewe says: cool
(00:02:13) Dutewe says: merci
(00:02:15) Mordaan says: the visual variations
(00:02:25) Mordaan says: else you'd have to have one model for every variation
(00:02:34) Dutewe says: not for me
(00:02:36) Mordaan says: too many items that way
(00:02:38) Uadjet says: Ah, the recoloring? I was thinking of something like that for tailoring. Even if people have the same style clothing as every other member of their race/gender, they could still have different coloured clothing.
(00:02:44) Dutewe says: i'm old diaboli
(00:03:09) Mordaan says: Hopefully that stuff will be much easier in UE.
(00:03:15) Zarre says: *grins* I suggested that about 8 years ago Uadjet. ;)
(00:03:44) Mordaan says: Yes, dynamic coloring will be quite a game changer.
(00:04:15) Zarre says: And important in a RP community methinks.
(00:04:26) Uadjet says: Heh, so the idea's been around a while?
(00:04:42) Zarre nods
(00:04:57) Mordaan says: It was just never worked out in crystal space
(00:05:21) Dilihin says: neopink armours when? :P
(00:05:29) Mordaan says: :)
(00:07:50) Mordaan says: Ok, looks like it's time to wrap up.
(00:08:15) Mordaan says: I gotta go make dinner. Thanks for coming, everyone!
(00:08:17) Dutewe says: so thank you
(00:08:22) Mordaan says: See you next time.
(00:08:27) Dutewe says: when
(00:08:32) Mordaan waves
(00:08:38) Baras says: thank you
(00:08:43) Dilihin says: gotta go pack again, thanks
(00:08:48) Zarre waves
(00:09:03) Migg says: bye all!
(00:09:22) Dutewe says: bye was vvery greatfull to talk with you
(00:10:24) Gonger says: Thanks for the meeting.

We actually had activity yesterday, miracles do still happen.

Referring to Forum Rules of Conduct: Behavior and Etiquette

IMHO I found Emaline's response dismissive rather than exhaustive,... , one low level GM's opinion should not over rule the outcome of any ideas.

Do not flame the staff. They have the final say. This forum isn't a democracy. Your vote doesn't always count.

Also as you stated yourself, GHs serve as place for RP when used imaginatively such as RDC. But as Emaline stated as long as there clearly isn't much activity there isn't reason to have GH. But as Emaline allready stated (again), if you genuinely have plans to use a GH you can always talk about it with the GMs, i am sure they are more than happy to help if you have any roleplay initiatives. The IRC channel for discussing with GMs is #planeshift-gmtalk btw  ;)

Any news on this Mordaan, there are eight positive posts.

I think Emaline's response was quite exhaustive on this matter. It is indeed true that you propably won't need it anyways and the items just create unnecessary load anyways, hence i recently started unloading useless stuff from guildhouse. They serve quite a little purpose besides being item junkyards.

Development Deliberation / Re: Blockchain based PlaneShift
« on: May 27, 2018, 02:51:26 pm »
I think the big problem in this thread is the blockchain itself, the whole conversation would be much easier if we just talked about decentralized mmorpgs.

There are some good projects out there(chimaera for instance), real pioneers but no real open-source project.
Blockchain technology is taking the world by a storm.
Well, from what I can see it seems to be implemented either as a currency or as a magic marketing word, since blockchain technology is "taking the world by a storm" . I'm quite cynical I suppose.

Blockchain is just mediasexy word, it's not that amazing at all people just hype it for no specific reason (i guess it's cause bitcoin or something). It either dies in few years or sticks to some communities to plague the world.
