The PlaneShift team, in cooperation with the PS-MC, has decided to host a texturing contest where players can submit new textures for existing models. We are holding a one-week texturing contest for an NPC variation, and looking for a winning texture of the Rat NPC model to appear in-game.

The best three new NPC textures will be given to Talad for the final selection - the winners will be announced here and on the PS-MC website!

A note of warning! A winner is not guaranteed in this contest. We certainly hope that all participants will wow us with their work, but the PlaneShift Team are looking for high-quality textures only - so do your best and prove that you have what it takes.

Legal notice: By participating in this contest you agree that upon winning your texture becomes for PlaneShift's use and PlaneShift's use only - under PlaneShift's License - and not to be used in any other work or project.

Are you good with photo manipulation? Photoshop wizards? Well good for you. I'm not, but I do have an idea ;]

Each week I'll post one or two "stock images", and everyone can try to make it planeshifty.

For example, if I posted some toast, you could post this:


That's not the best example, obviously, but this could also include a Fenki working at a McDonalds, or a Kran's face merged with that of a particularly dumb politician. I admit I probably haven't given this as much thought as I should, but I felt something was needed to counter the bickering that was christening these new boards in foul tides of frothy-mouthed squabbling. Or something like that. The best and the runner up image compositions will get a nifty badge from moi.

The RP Duelling Tournament has been thought of to give all those RPers that love great RP-fights a chance of performing in incredible duels. But also to give the members of the community a chance to either discover RP or to experience a full RP event for the used RPers.


The Group Keeper will take the entrance fee of people who wish to see the event and invite everyone who wants to participate into /group, apply warnings and kick bad behaving people from the group using [/groupremove].
No one else than the judge, the referee and the Duellists have the right to speak in the group channel. Non active roles (mainly for the crowd) have the right to shout encouragements and such in normal chat (/say) though. The Group Keeper will take care of the law enforcing in the group channel.

People that wish to join the crowd will have to know about the [/me] [/tell {name} /me] commands and the OOC way of speaking between brackets ?( )? ?[ ]? ?{ }?.

The Referee the OOC operator of the fights. He is the one who make the duel go on turn by turn and who makes sure that the players aren\'t taking too much time typing. He also has the ability to pause the duel in group chat if clarifications are needed.

The Judge is the one to make sure the fights are well RPed and that none of the duellists are going OOC and that they stick to the background they submitted. He is the one to RP with the players and the crowd (making comments when needed, stopping the fights, RPing RP cheating of players...). He has the ability to pause the duel as well in group channel if clarifications are needed. He is also the one to chose the winner in some cases.

To participate as fighter please send us (Rioth or amogorkon) an email or PM containing following infos:

a complete list of all items you will be able to have access (please add information for special items like potions, rings etc. to the list)
and
a general character background
and
when you will more likely be able to participate (timezone, date)

This knowledge is completely OOC and the organisers promise to keep it secret as long as there is no important reason like cheating (in the non-RP sense).
The participants on the other hand will have to stick with both, the items and the character background during the tournament.

Please also notify us if you want to participate as food trader, bet collector, story teller, comedian or anything else of your choice.

Note: The tournament will take place (gods willing) on the 2nd and 3rd of January.

Recently people have been expressing dissatisfaction with the current way to discuss stuff with a gm or complain about one. Namely, having to track down a developer and email them or PM them, which is not always the fastest way to resolve things.

In light of this a new irc channel has been created for the purpose of helping players find a GM, whether for trying to plan an event, complaining about the behavior of another player, or even complaining about the actions of another GM. I feel it is important to note that this is not a place for you to get into a flamewar against the entire GM team! If you want to know why a GM did what they did, want to get GM assistance (someone needs muting, renaming, or kicking?), or want to locate the GM that assisted you ingame in order to \"argue your case\", come here. (Such arguing may be requested to be moved into a /query private message window if it\'s making it difficult for others to get help)

With that said, the rules can be pretty well summarized as: no obscene content of any kind, don\'t start namecalling, no spamming, use common sense.
