Title: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on July 11, 2011, 09:36:40 am
Just some random doodlings, may add more later if I'm so motivated to do so. And once the stupid scanner decides to work with me and not against me...

I FIXED MY SCANNER! YAY!

Is that a kind of "third eye" on her forehead, or just the fur pattern?
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: BoevenF on July 12, 2011, 08:26:20 am
heheh, I had the same thought at first, but I believe it's some kind of tattoo, isn't it?  :D
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on July 12, 2011, 10:49:57 am
It's a painted spiral on her forehead. I really should have colored it, but no, no three eyes for her. Heh.
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Earowo on July 12, 2011, 12:21:11 pm
I wonder if its within settings to have a character with multiple eyes.....
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on July 12, 2011, 03:54:19 pm
Dakkru didn't put them together right?  ;D
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: BoevenF on July 16, 2011, 05:54:02 pm
Three eyes? Why not? One eyed characters are in settings, after all.  ;D
Title: Yay more...*art*

I thought I would go "easy" on myself and draw a person for a change...
Easy.
Hah. (I forgot I can't draw people to save my life.)
Teshia Dastrid. Kinda. Or as best as I could do. YES I know she's supposed to be all in black but dangit I'm too lazy to do all that shading. D:

I tried to draw a more realistic Enki and poor, poor Sabriel was my victim.
Don't feel bad if the quote "Hulk smash" comes to mind because you aren't alone <.<
Why doesn't he have a shirt you ask? ...Last time I tried to draw a shirt on him it looked terrible so I just took it out.  ::|

Post by: Mariana Xiechai on August 09, 2011, 11:18:20 pm
I just realized Teshia has two left hands...I AM NOT REDRAWING THAT HAND, DANGIT
Blame it on Dakkru. -.- She didn't have her coffee that morning so she put her back together wrong.

<Edit> Fixed it because it was bothering me too much  >:(
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Earowo on August 10, 2011, 12:27:37 am
she only owns one of the hands, she should go on a quest to find who has claimed the other one :3

Wow Mariana, glad I stopped by here today. Last time I looked there was only the one drawing. I really love seeing how others portray the characters they RP with and your drawings are fun to see.

The picture of Erythros was...meh.
Deserved better than a half-crap one drawn in a moving vehicle so...here's a second shot at it!

::) Yeah, I also drew two of Mari and two of Ery but the other one of Ery I didn't like so I took it down. So..shush. >.<

Mooooooore doodles:
Erythros again:
Annnnnd Dannae!

No you can't call it art Sarras, that would be false advertising.  ;D
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Phantomboy86 on August 11, 2011, 09:08:25 pm
Travosh falsely advertises what he pleases!
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on August 12, 2011, 09:28:44 am
:P Fine, Travosh can call it art if he feels so generously inclined, but only because he enjoys false advertisement.  ;D

Post by: Dannae on August 12, 2011, 11:14:10 am
Loved to see the new pics Mariana and Dannae's expression fits her so well! Not so sure I'm crazy about her fish fin ear, haha, but am flattered just the same.

Erythros looks so sad in the new one, but perfect for the char., and a better overall drawing too.

Teshia again. I decided that her sitting down smiling at you just didn't fit very well with her character...
And no, the shading isn't that drastically different than the others, it just looks like it because I no longer have a scanner and have to take the pics with a digital camera  ::|

the mouth freaks me out a bit, it looks offcenter or something, not sure. But you captured one of Teshia's 2 modes! Ill give you two guesses what the second one is.
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on August 23, 2011, 06:55:14 pm
:o The mouth is kind of off...that's going to bother me now. Gosh darn you Travosh!  :(
Also...angry and...deviously happy? <.< I dunno what's Teshia's other mode?  ::|

you forgot batty as a belfrey <_<

I put that and anger in the same ship.

the correct answer was 'mode 1-anger, mode 2-faucet'

Would describe it as more of a garden-hose type, rather than a simple faucet...

Look kids, it's Voron!
He's not wearing a shirt.
And it looks like he's been put through a meat grinder. <.<  ::|

I toughened up and gave the poor man some shading. No more pasty pasty whiteness.

A meat grinder. Hm. That sounds like an euphemism.

If Nicolas Cage wrote a book, would it be called "Nicolas Page"?

Fantastic images Mariana. That second one of Miomai is her typical view of the world. The one of Voron is my favorite.

Do you take requests? If so then how about one of Travosh kissing Miomai's paw. The appropriate in-character responses would be that Miomai looks disinterested and Travosh desperate.

I'm not sure how I feel about this one...
If I get brave enough I'll try to shade it later. I couldn't figure out from the desc whether or not Esalir wears a shirt...it says his "shift is cut away to reveal a now muscled torso" or something I think...But drawing that looked like a sports bra O.o
Anyway, here's Esalir:

Nice work so far! I like how you started working on movement and action with Miomai's and Teshia's.  That's fairly challenging to get the hang of.  Drawing the whole figure in general can even intimidating because of anatomy but don't let it hold you back.  ;)  Hope to see more colored works too!

You can use anything you want, but I prefer eating my cereal with a spoon rather than a fork. ;)

I'm keenly aware of this topic because it is one that interests me; one focus of my graduate work was in HCI (human-computer interaction). A surprising number of the frustrations that we have in modern society is due to poorly designed interfaces. Making usable software is really hard and time consuming.

This is unfinished yet, I have to shade it...a lot. It's basically a picture of Mariana in the sewers, looking for something, on the walls. I was wondering if I could get tips on how to shade it, actually, as I imagine the background would be quite dark, without drowning out the character herself.

Thanks in advance!

Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Aramara Meibi on September 30, 2011, 11:08:57 pm
I think Mari looks great! for shading, I'd use some references, pictures that you find that exhibit the same kind of lighting as you are looking for. A master example of someone working with single sources of light is Caravaggio.

keep in mind where your light source is, in this case the strongest source will be the flame in her palm. think about how that light lands on and reflects off of every surface. With Mari's armor, you can have a lot of fun with reflections. maybe some torches on the background walls and whatever ambient light there is. take some snapshots in the sewer for references on perspective and textures.

BAMF! (BAd Midnight Fenki)

You love me. And the colorless clamod.

She looks like she can knock 'em dead. Which is probably why everyone runs away.

I don't know much about cats, but I believe their whiskers are supposed to be long enough so that if they try to crawl through a narrow opening, their whiskers will help them feel if they can squeeze through. So, if that is the purpose on an enkidukai, I would imagine they need to be long enough to reach the width of their shoulders. Unless of course they are only vestigial sensory hairs now.

I only point it out because I think it would look cool. ;)

this is true. cats also don't have collar bones, which allows them to squeeze through such narrow openings. cats are awesome.

Hey look kids, it's the antichrist Marsuveus Dastro!
What? Doesn't he just look huggable? Aw, c'mon, give him a hug.
The eyes kinda bug me, but it's a "distorted" image, as if someone was taking a camera and bringing it uber close to his face or him getting up in yours so he can cut off your head. Thus, the enormous size >.<

Very nice costumes Mariana. I don't know if it would help, but I could make a thread for people to post any pictures of their costumes, or collages for those less artistically inclined, and then you can point people to in in your OOC tab. WHY DREADLOCKS MAN? WHY YOU GOTTA HATE LIKE THAT?
Anyway. Another atrocity I must address:
YOU DON'T MENTION YOUR CHARACTER'S EYE COLOR.
How could you?! How will people know to color of your eyes as you stare deeply into their soul beat them with a blunt object over the head?
As punishment: here are your lovely cliche red eyes. LET THIS BE A WARNING TO YOU ALL!

LOL! I'm flattered!

The dreadlocks were Vayl's idea. Rigwyn needed to change his appearance due to circumstances that got a bit out of hand. I changed it in a way that was a compete fashion disaster. Vayl came to the rescue xD

As for Eye color, I'm not sure why I never picked one. So long as it doesn't cause a settings violation, I'll certainly consider red \o/

Shangshi (Otherwise know as Shangster, Shanginator, Shang-a-lang, Shangsheeeeee! and last but not least, Shangsquatch.)

Are his legs too short? Iunno, I look from one angle and they're fine, from another and it's like they're just a TOUCH too short. I might make alterations later. Maybe even shade it, and add a background, if I can think of what to put back there.

Edit: Made his legs that touch longer.

Nice work indeed. Clear improvements can be seen when overlooking the thread as a whole, and I like the idea of depicting characters familiar to the game.

A study of symmetric proportions should be of use however, if only to improve what talent you display.

Keep on drawing :)

@ Rigwyn: Thank you  :-[ I might add some designs to his sword. And bracers. I think he wears bracers but for the life of me, I couldn't remember.

@ Jacula: I'm glad you enjoyed flipping through my doodles :P Though I'm curious, on the topic of symmetric proportions, if I understand you correctly, do you mean the size of one arm in comparison to another, or one leg, or the face, etc. I've noticed often I make the mistake of having one limb just a tad longer than the one on the other side. Is there a trick to that, or is this just learned experience? ;D Either way, thank you for the constructive criticism, it is appreciated.
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Jilata on February 10, 2012, 10:42:41 am
I think it is different for everyone Mariana. I didn't really train to draw fitting proportions. It comes to me rather naturally. I usually draw that, what looks the best in that specific situation ;)
You might try using a ruler and look at the exact length of each limb. But it won't work if they have a different angle, in a way, so the limbs shorten. What I mean is you draw a person and that person has one arm stretched from where you are looking at. That arm looks "shorter" due to the angle it is looked at. It makes it rather difficult to draw the right length.
What might help is using a wooden puppet. But seeing something and being able to draw it can be quite a difference sometimes.

I think it was imaginism on DeviantArt who said: If it feels like there's something wrong with a drawing, there probably is. How to know what it is and how to fix it? Draw, draw, draw, and draw some more. :)

At school we get a lot of exercises like: Make 5 sketches each week of the people you see around you for 4 years,  each sketch taking no longer than 5 to 10 min. Use pen or markers. Also, make around 40 self portraits each 6 months, using a mirror. And then there's 3 hours a week of model drawing in class :)

And guess what? I'm still not getting it right XD
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Mariana Xiechai on February 10, 2012, 12:30:42 pm
@ Jilata: I know exactly what you mean. It's simple if the figure is just straight-on, but the moment you start to add fluidity or movement, things tend to get more complicated. Forshortening and the like has never been one of my strengths.  :@#\

@ Mellas: Good advice, but sadly as a science major and not an art major, I don't have that kind of time to draw so many doodles, even if I wish I did.  X-/ I'm afraid it'll be a gradual process for me. Slow and steady wins the proverbial race!
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Aramara Meibi on February 10, 2012, 01:05:10 pm
mari, if your prison deathtrap moneydrain endlesssoulsuckingabyss educational institution offers a course in figure drawing, i'd recommend taking it at the first opportunity. Some other things to try, just as sketches and practice to help get the idea of form in your figures, are gesture drawings (http://www.mmwindowtoart.com/gesturedrawing.html) and contour line drawings (http://www.mmwindowtoart.com/foundations/foundationslinecontour.html)

as far as foreshortening goes, it's a hard thing to master, but when you do it creates so much depth and dimension in your pictures. Basically, it's a mentality you have to hold while drawing, the things that are closer to the viewer should appear larger on the picture plane. Easier said than done, but it's mostly a trick of the mind. Practice drawing from observation first, so that your eyes overpower your mind, learn to draw what you see rather than what you think you see. Then take those lessons learned from observation and apply it to the mind's eye. Then... where it gets real fun, is when your mind's eye overpowers your eyes. Most people call that insanity, I call it fun.

I've always pictured Evi as being very long and lanky, I guess I just went a bit too far with the concept here, but I wanted to emphasize that she's physically quite frail. As for a yodeling...well hopefully it won't look like that when the image is done. ;D

That Klyros drawing has so much emotion in it! Very beautiful, especially the pose, it's just gorgeous! Since klyros can fly I'd say she's floating based on the positioning of her legs, but if that wasn't your idea, then maybe this site will help: http://www.posemaniacs.com/ (http://www.posemaniacs.com/) I can usually find a reference for a fun dynamic pose here. Inspired by a description of an outfit, or more fittingly, battle armor, created by Teshia and Caraick, so you could say the design credit goes to them. An Adani ensemble. Thus the tree, and those little things on the shoulderpads will be rubies. I plan to paint it, but as I'm doing it old school with a tiny tiny tiny paintbrush (The drawing ain't much bigger than my hand), don't expect it soon. I'm going to do one for a mage, and for a female "fighter," eventually, as well.

That said, we have Caraick posing for this one. Don't he just look so cute!

Quote
This male clamod Enkidukai appears to be about 23-25 cycles of age, and very lithe. He is a bit smaller than the average Menki. He smells of wildgrass, musk, and something else, not unpleasant.

[Currently: Both hands are wrapped in strips of leather, that if untied, reveal blotched and bruised skin beneath matted, sticky fur.]

On Wulfar's right hand, his index finger, is wedged a golden ring with a ruby in it. The ring is large, beautiful yet unmarked. The Cabachon ruby flickers in the light, and inscribed on the edge of the ring is the word "Adani".

Wulfar's face is somewhat noble looking. his ears, both right and left, have small pieces missing. They are a pure, velvety black, with a bit of a silver lining inside them. HIs cheekbones, like the rest of his face, are feline, yet high, framing his orange-amber eyes, which are emotionless at most times, save when provoked. His muzzle is lightly scarred, with thin silvery lines running through it and marring his otherwise soft, black nose. HIs whiskers are a pure black and seem a bit dainty in comparison with the rest of him.

His neck is unscarred, and connects to broad, sinewy shoulders. His body, although small for a menki, is muscled as well and shows years of hard labour. He seems flexible and his natural posture is relaxed. his arms have light silver scars on them as well, and his back is criss-crossed with the wicked lines. These lines appear deep, and  there are literally hundreds of them latticed deep into his almost-furless back. They are jagged, and appear inflicted as if to cause extreme amounts of pain.

His tail is typical clamod, with a white meandering line wandering across the tip and midsection. His hindlegs and quarters are equally as sinewy and muscled as the rest of him, ending in heavily calloused footpads. He does not appear to have worn shoes in his life, save the leather boots he wears now. His claws, when unsheathed are worn, yet gleam dully.

His clothing is exceptional, crafted from leather. He wears a full leather ensemble, all mostly new and allowing movement.  He wears a leather strap of a necklace, with a gold coin around the v of his neck.

He has a superbly well-crafted saber hanging at his right side, not appearing to be used often. On the left hangs a simple skin, barely filled with any tria. In the tria pouch is a simple clay figurine in his likeness, fist extended on a circular plate of clay.

Finally finished with this, took far too long to do I know. Sadly the shading doesn't come through very well without the flash on my cam, but with the flash you get a glare because it's so dark  ;D

Oi, question for all you artsy folks out there, I know about crosshatching and such, but are there other methods for getting that "smooth" look to pencil drawings? I have the full array down from 6B to F, so if it's pencil variety, that's an option. Thanks in advance!

You can take a tortillon and go over anything sketched to smooth the shading and lines.  HOWEVER... 1. they cost money, however little. 2. they can be tricky to find, depending on what stores you have nearby. and 3. it's cheaper to just take a scrap of paper, and start folding it like you would make a paper airplane, and keep folding it over and over until you get a very narrow point/concentrated bit of paper.  What you really need is a point that has some manner of substance to it, so you can apply a bit of pressure.

It can take a little getting used to, but if you work on the principle of "less = more" then you'll do just fine with it.  Start off with keeping the most graphite/lead/charcoal nearer to the outer/darker areas, and begin blending your way in.  You can smudge the color over a pretty sizeable area, so work on applying the most color almost as an outline, and then smudging and working it inwards.  Don't make any harsh/sharp lines, and use a very light hand to put a basic layer of color down.  Sometimes, I literally only use 3-4 pencil strokes over a centimeter or so of paper, and then buff over it with paper to disperse it.  Also, after you've been using it a bit, your paper/tortillon will be "dirty" and will have the ability to transfer color without a layer of pigment already on the paper.  This can be great for medium-darkness areas, but can mess up a light area quickly.  That's another reason why I use scraps of paper, as I can change them as often as I like.

It's also possible to use an erasing technique to leave a smooth, faded color/shading.  But that's a lot trickier to control the lines of, and after a while, will remove part of the paper.  I don't recommend it unless you're positively desperate to remove color from something.

If you only have a photo camera: Have light! No lamp has the magnitude of the summer sun, regarding brightness. And only enough brightness allows cameras to take pictures with a good signal-to-noise ratio. Comparing the level of noise contrast with the level of image contrast, I can only assume that this picture has been taken at night with a desk lamp...

The image quality makes me want to weep bitter tears of bitterness, but before I shade it in I wanted to ask around and see if I wasn't the only one who felt like klyrans look better when they're more "reptillian." I don't really like the human faces, I think it looks kinda odd and disjunct. When I think klyros I think like Argonians from the elder scrolls games, just as a reference:

Sort of a rounder, jutting jaw. I don't know. Thoughts? Oh, and here's the image in progress. This is Evirea sitting with her favorite type of weapon. She likes to "needle" people. (Tehe.)

I have to agree with you. Looking back at the two other attempts at drawing Evirea, I was never really satisfied with how she turned out. I'd imagine slighter frames, less so on a male, and less "human" shaped eyes. I mean heck, the klyros were so freaky looking they scared Laanx himself! (Not really, but still :P) And considering their sense of pride I doubt they'd have their feelings hurt if their physical facades were just a tad more alien  ;D

Mari, I heartily agree. The klyros' humanoid facial features always seemed out of keeping with the rest of their reptilian bodies.

I guess that's how I feel about enki too. I think their faces look better when they're more "felinous," and not human.

She puts on her robe and wizard hat

I have been quite literally contemplating implementing a serious phobia of hats for her. It would be both utterly hilarious, and it would make sense ICly.

But mostly it would be hilarious.

I don't know if the joke works as well if the klyros is actually female...then again, anyone who tried to stick Evirea in a dress would probably end up with one of those needles in their eyesocket.  ;D

Just a quick sketch of an interesting RP I had today. I'll post the RP below for anyone curious.

(12:26:10) Evirea sits down on the bench, folding her hands in her lap.

(12:26:10) Fuusan says: So, is this elf you are hunting highly classified?

(12:26:22) Evirea smirks faintly. "I'm not hunting an elf."

(12:26:44) Fuusan says: Oh?

(12:26:47) Evirea says: No.

(12:26:53) Evirea says: I'm hunting a rather unruly klyros.

(12:26:55) Evirea says: I believe him dead.

(12:27:00) Evirea says: But his friends deserve closure.

(12:27:11) Fuusan says: So why the research on dermorians?

(12:27:22) Evirea says: Tis the means by which I believe he died.

(12:27:40) Evirea frowns faintly, looking down at her hands.

(12:27:52) Fuusan says: An elf?

(12:27:57) Evirea says: No...
(12:28:03) Evirea says: I'm studying old ways of the accult.

(12:28:08) Evirea seems to be intentionally vague.

(12:28:18) Fuusan says: Fascinating.

(12:29:04) Evirea clears her throat. "Isn't it, though?" She runs her fingers over the pale white scarring on her skin.

(12:29:43) Fuusan says: A friend of yours, was he?

(12:30:02) Evirea says: Not exactly.

(12:30:10) Evirea says: I don't really make friends. It's my...winning personality.

(12:30:53) Fuusan says: Everyone has friends; even, if I may, complete asshats.

(12:31:08) Evirea throws back her head and laughs boistrously.

(12:31:18) Evirea says: That bad, am I?

(12:31:28) Fuusan shrugs.

(12:31:44) Fuusan says: I was merely presenting one extreme to show that your winsome charm is not an excuse.

(12:33:32) Evirea frowns faintly. "I see," she says. She rubs the back of her head awkwardly and looks off towards the fountain. "Well, to each their own," she repeats, for lack of nothing else to say.

(12:34:38) Fuusan says: In any case, I was under the impression that I was your friend. Or at the very least that I was starting to make an impression.

(12:36:18) Evirea grimaces again, the faintest of flinches. She begins moving her tremulous hands over one another as a sort of nervous tic, out of her element. "Well, yes, of course," she answers.

(12:36:39) Fuusan smirks.
(12:36:47) Fuusan says: Which is it?

(12:37:50) Evirea gives Fuusan a look that says she'd like to slap that smirk off his face. She holds her hands firmly together and looks down again, gritting her teeth.

(12:38:22) Fuusan stops smirking and turns to face Evirea, his face completely serious.
(12:38:45) Fuusan says: There is nothing wrong with calling someone "friend"

(12:39:06) Evirea speaks bitterly, "Friendship is trust, and trust is stupidity."

(12:41:20) Fuusan says: Two can play that game. Solitude is isolation, and isolation means that there's no one to pull you out of the holes you dig yourself into.

(12:42:10) Evirea looks up with a glint in her eye, leaning forward and hissing out with a vehemence, "At least you'll have dug those holes yourself and have no one else to blame for it."

(12:42:33) Fuusan smiles sadly.
(12:42:39) Fuusan says: So strong, but so scared.

(12:43:30) Evirea clenches her fists tighter, the tendons in her wrists looking ready to snap. "I don't fear you," she grates out.

(12:44:17) Fuusan says: Certainly not. I would hate for that to be the case. Imagine how non-conducive that would be to our... dynamic.

(12:45:13) Evirea's jaw works slightly, the muscles grinding over themselves, but she manages to say with some small indication of snark, "That would be depressingly non-conducive indeed."

(12:46:20) Fuusan says: I fail to see why I must dance around the word "friendship" to pander to your phobia, though.
(12:46:31) Fuusan says this in an offhand manner, just to piss her off even more.

(12:47:24) Evirea's left eye twitches, and it would seem like she's ready to full out punch him in the face. She resist, but just barely. The chords in her arm bunch as though fighting desperately against the impulse, and she doesn't speak.

(12:47:46) Fuusan smirks.
(12:47:51) Fuusan says: Should I leave you alone?

(12:48:29) Evirea is fairly undone by that arrogant smirk. This time she lets the fist fly, right towards his mouth.

(12:49:39) Fuusan gets knocked clean off the bench, gliding through the air upside down until he lands a goodly distance away from her, on his back. Despite the blood in his mouth he is giggling hysterically.

(12:50:34) Evirea stands up abruptly, winging her way over towards the klyros to try and straddle him, her fist raised slightly as if to deliver another blow as the other hand tries to latch itself onto his collar.

(12:51:00) Fuusan spreads his arms to his sides.
(12:51:16) Fuusan says: Feel free, but refrain from causing lasting damage, eh?
(12:51:35) Fuusan says: Chum?
(12:52:21) Fuusan says: Pal? Chap?
(12:52:32) Fuusan grins widely.
(12:52:36) Fuusan says: Friend?

(12:52:50) Evirea sits there, her fingers curled in tightly enough that blood dribbles out from between them. She breathes harshly and glares down at Fuusan's face, barely containing building outrage. "Stop it," she hisses. "Stop. It."

(12:53:35) Fuusan says: Of course. Anything for a friend.
(12:53:46) Fuusan falls silent, lying there with a stupid grin on his face.

(12:55:39) Evirea reaches out and tries to grab Fuusan's collar with both hands, as though to shake him. She tries to do just this, though he's probably a good deal heavier than he is, screaming obscenities at him. But she doesn't hit him again.

(12:57:15) Fuusan sits quietly, taking the abuse with a smile. He even moves a little, trying to mirror Evirea's shaking.

(12:58:13) Evirea stops after a moment, as though the fight just melts out of her. She sags, her fists still loosely curled in his robe, her expression rather dead.

(12:58:26) Fuusan says: Are you quite done, then?

(12:59:04) Evirea cannot quite manage to mold her face to anger even at that. She just says flatly, "Yes."

(12:59:35) Fuusan says: ... will you let me up, then?

(13:00:19) Evirea doesn't answer for a time. She just continues staring at her own hands, blank-faced. Slowly, she gets up, her lets quivering slightly, and backs away.

(13:01:04) Fuusan wipes the blood from his mouth with a sleeve.

(13:01:45) Evirea seems to be looking Fuusan in the face, but she doesn't quite meet her eyes, and continues to be fairly devoid of expression.

(13:01:45) Fuusan says: You lied.

(13:01:57) Evirea croaks, "About what."

(13:02:08) Fuusan says: You told me that you weren't hurt.

(13:02:34) Evirea's lips form a tight line. "I'm not," she says hoarsely.
(13:03:24) Fuusan says: Of course not. I'm still here to heal your wounds, nevertheless.
(13:03:47) Fuusan says: Wherever they may be.

(13:04:11) Evirea looks up suddenly, at Fuusan's bleeding mouth. "There are some wounds that cannot be healed," she answers dully, with the cadece of defeat. She turns around, and makes to walk away.

(13:04:30) Fuusan lets her go.

Edit: The more I looked at it the more I was like...meh. The face didn't turn out the way I wanted, nor did the headfin, nor did the eye, nor did the wings or the detailing on the robe...I just totally revamped it. So far I like how it's coming along much better.

To be honest I have no idea. From what I could glean of the avatar, they do "have" lips, they're just not that prominent. I haven't decided if I'm going to shade it, but if I do I'd probably blend so it's less of a harsh, evident line. I mostly added the lips (and the pupils in the eyes) for expression purposes.

Mariana, I'd like to see your interpretation of Boeven, if you please.

The actual description is:
You see a klyros male named Boeven Facco.
Boeven is carrying an old sack tied on his back with leather strips. A sheathed sabre is attached to the base of each wing, hanging behind his back.
He's looking around, watching everything. A metal ring with white crystals is on his ring finger of the right hand, and a gobble amulet around his neck.
There's a scar across the wings.
The armour appears quite used and stained.
You smell a slight hint of apples around him.

I could add that recently has traveled a lot in search of scrolls in ancient klyran language, so perhaps right now he's burying his nose in a parchment.

I tried once, but the result was awful  :-[

Yeeeeeeeshe, LigH.  I really hope you didn't mean that the way it sounded.  Evi is one of my favorite characters in the game.  She's got significant mobility and depth to her, and is just all around very nicely made.
and its funneh to watch her flail with teh menfolk hit on her

Have I told you lately how much I LOVE the way you've been doing the scales, Mari?  Cause I do.  Putting just a few here and there on the picture does wonders for giving it the impression of scaling, without having to "clutter" the whole body with them.  I might just have to try it myself!  :flowers:

@ Tessra:

It was just this kind of "Shut up!" attitude even against Esanor, the mute dwarf; just being present in the tavern seemed to be too loud of him for her state of that moment. Esanor avoids un-cheerful people. They tend to miss his easy point of view.

@ Tessra:

It was just this kind of "Shut up!" attitude even against Esanor, the mute dwarf; just being present in the tavern seemed to be too loud of him for her state of that moment. Esanor avoids un-cheerful people. They tend to miss his easy point of view.

(12:07:11) Evirea lets out an annoyed muttering and looks back at Esanor's poke. "Yes?"
(12:07:22) Esanor writes on his Magic Board...
(12:08:12) Esanor writes: "Today a Nolthrir at the tree near the billboard, green substance in neck cut, red fenki mark"
(12:09:06) Evirea reads the words and sighs heavily, nodding once in understanding. She studies Esanor curiously, and in a voice that's direct yet utterly lacking in cruelty she inquires, "Are you mute, good stonehammer?"
(12:09:24) Evirea says: "Since birth?"
Esanor nods
(12:10:06) Evirea sighs again. "Ah. Not much I can do to help with that, then. Not even with my skills." She leans down slightly to peer at the man's eyes. "Thank you for telling me this. Do you know if the body has been taken care of?"
(12:10:38) Esanor nods and scribbles
(12:11:02) Esanor adds the names "Akei, Eardstapa, Cirerey"
(12:11:28) Esanor scratches his head
(12:11:34) Esanor raises four fingers
(12:11:46) Evirea nods slowly, three times for three names. "I'll have to have a talk with each fo them, that's very valuable information." She squints at the fingers and nods. "Four including yourself?"
(12:12:19) Esanor shakes his head
(12:12:30) Esanor points at himself and raises five fingers
(12:12:45) Esanor adds "..., Mekora"
(12:13:35) Evirea squints. "Mekora," she says aloud. "Well, that's plenty I suppose." Rubbing a few fingers along her headfin, she breathes a quiet sigh. "I'm hoping to attract the killer's attention, but something tells me, if I'm accurate in my assumptions, that this won't be happening."
(12:14:09) Esanor raises a warning index finger towards Evirea
(12:14:17) Esanor waves goodbye.
(12:14:36) Evirea eyes the finger, perhaps not understanding it. She then merely returns the wave to him.

<><><><><><>

(10:50:47) Evirea nods to Esanor. "I've good news for you."
(10:51:37) Evirea returns the smile rather wearily. "The killings are staged. Bodies from the Well or somewhere else, not people who were actually murdered, are being set up to look like homicide victims."
(10:52:08) Esanor weaves his head in thoughts and shrugs demonstratively
(10:52:56) Evirea smirks faintly. "I know. It's odd, isn't it. I've got some theories on reasons why but it'll take a bit to verify. At least, we know now, presumably, no one is in danger."
(10:53:42) Evirea returns the saluting gesture.

<><><><><><>

(23:26:20) Evirea looks towards Esanor, giving him a wane, tired smile. "Hello again."
(23:26:49) Evirea lets out a sigh. "I was just getting comfortable," she murmurs, hopping down from the railing.
(23:26:52) Masaro shakes his head a bit, "Judging by the fact that you are bound up in cloth I'd say you stayed out of Dakkru's realm... but how?"
(23:27:12) Evirea waves a hand at Masaro. "Just a moment."
(23:28:02) Chays says: Pentrian...that's...my sister knows him.
(23:28:57) Evirea arches a single, scaly brow. "Laanx? Well, originally it was just your typical priest or follower being a little overzealous, but it's not a threat. That's what they cry all the time round the temple. But I wonder why they switched it out with this Pentrian person?"
(23:29:34) Masaro says: It could be a just a joke... I saw the scratches earlier but I didn't pay them any mind
(23:29:51) Chays says: I don't know...he has a rather far-fetched story from what I've heard...
(23:30:04) Evirea shrugs and yet again, she winces. "It's fine, this time, stonehammer. It's not a threat. Shadow's right, it's just a joke, probably."
(23:31:01) Evirea looks at Esanor expectantly. "Don't worry about this one, yes?"
(23:31:29) Chays says: Probably just some bored kid.
(23:31:43) Esanor takes his Magic Board and scribbles
(23:32:03) Esanor writes "Was just afraid it may have relations to the corpses."
(23:32:40) Evirea reads the writing, and then smirks, shaking her head. "Nah. No threat. And I wouldn't worry about the bodies anymore. None of them was a real death. You can spread that information into general circulation for me if you like."
(23:33:56) Evirea reaches up to lightly touch at the wound on her arm, cringing. "I think I'm going to go sit by the fire...if you want more from me fluffy you can find me there. Chill won't leave me alone."
(23:34:24) Masaro grumbles a little bit at being called "fluffy"... again...

<><><><><><><>

These are the only interactions I could actually find between Esanor and Evirea. Granted, Esanor tends to use quite a few /commands that don't always catch in my logs, so I might have missed something. Evirea is an abrasive character in many situations, but for the most part she doesn't run around telling people to "shut up" willynilly. Now, I don't really mind if you don't want to RP with my characters for IC reasons, heck, happens between people in reality too, but there's no need to imply that she's obnoxious all around. All characters have a certain depth to them, even the less than approachable ones; frankly those are some of my favorites. Icerra, for example, was one of my favorite characters ever created, simply because she was so electric in her wild and crazy reactions to things and her steadfast dedication to trying to please a dark goddess that everything she did was so interesting to watch.

Have I told you lately how much I LOVE the way you've been doing the scales, Mari?  Cause I do.  Putting just a few here and there on the picture does wonders for giving it the impression of scaling, without having to "clutter" the whole body with them.  I might just have to try it myself!  :flowers:

Bwah hahaha. I'm glad my laziness makes you happy.  ;D In truth drawing all the scales gets tedious, that and it drowns out the features somewhat and sort of distracts from things for me, unless you're going to shade it (which gets even MORE tedious, especially with scales.)

and its funneh to watch her flail with teh menfolk hit on her

*Evirea curses bitterly under her breath and vows to live out the rest of her days as a hermit.

It takes a lot more balls to put honest work and effort into producing a piece of artwork and sharing it with friends than it does to make a nasty remark about someone else's work. If this was meant as a put down, then grow a set.

Mariana a well liked and respected roleplayer? I mean, his Klyros character, despite being a female, doesn't even have boobs. That's too far outside of settings to be considered roleplay. He might as well play a ghost dragon.

I do remember such a thing in a certain freenode channel. Talad had many, many, many things from Kieve, that for some reason aren't implemented. Incompetence? Lack of interest? Maybe he lost them? I may have gone slightly overboard on the Akkaio's attire (or lack thereof). I regret nothing.

I remember a statement like: "Talad has them. Ask him to implement them." -- Was it in his deviantArt thread?
I've said it numerous times over the years. There are any number of reasons why he hasn't seen fit to use them.
-Waiting for a matched set of Menkis to go with (not gonna happen)
-Didn't like the fuss caused when Clamods were switched over (some people were less pleased at having their characters suddenly change graphical appearance)
-Too attached to the current appearance // doesn't feel like tweaking the files to allow leg-spike transparency (which is really the thing I was proudest of when redoing the textures - seriously, what is their purpose?)
-"Quitting" means I'm not technically part of the team and not bound by the art license. Frankly, I don't give a damn, I made them specifically for PS and I'm not about to demand them back, but PS has a long history and I wouldn't someone tried to burn him that way in years past, so I won't fault him for being cautious, if that's the reason.
-Spite, possibly? There was some... internal friction. No details shall be provided.
-Possibly just lost files, although I've offered them up several times so that's not really an excuse.

Bottom line, you'd have to ask the big man directly. And if you wanted anything to change on the subject, there'd have to be a community consensus, not just a few people poking him about it.

If this Kieve fellow already has a lot of pre-made skins for fenkis and menkis...

Why can't we just use them and implement them as, say, mage's robes?
Misconception. I started revising fenki skins as a hobby project, but it'd be incorrect to say I have a lot. One outfit/skin for each - and the nice thing about photoshop layers (and working from the same UVW map) is it's a snap to mix and match. Base skin (/fur) + clothing layers (+optional recolor), I could have Rabani wearing Clamod outfits in about two minutes or less. That's not to say there's a wealth of stuff sitting on my drive, just that it's all easily interchangeable.

And so I stop derailing the thread completely, your artwork isn't too shabby either :) keep at it!

You are asking for criticism, and I am going to give it. Offending you is not my intention.

Read this (I never heard of this website before, but my views are summed up in this article): http://www.livescience.com/19878-drawing-ability.html

And then this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattern_recognition_%28psychology%29

I can't find any links further explaining these theories. However, by now you probably understand what I am trying to say.

You are drawing what your mind is recognizing when it sees objects. You are not supposed to do this. Draw what your eyes see.

Personally, I have never had this issue. When I was a child, I would "practice art" by simply observing objects. I would take in as much information as I could, then create a three-dimensional rendition in my mind. When I had finally accumulated enough objects (in my mind), I would grab a piece of paper and combine them all into a scene.

I noticed that no one else was capable of doing this. I'd always suggest, "Draw/paint what you see, not what you think." But nobody ever seemed to get the true meaning of what I said, and so I'm providing these links, hoping you might understand.

There are so many processes going on in your brain that, when you finally "see" an image, it has been distorted into a lossy concept of what it really was. First you see it with your eyes, which already have distorted it by registering distance, light, and movement. Second, your ability to remember information depends on if you're attending to it in the first place, which you are likely not, without even realizing. Then it goes through pattern recognition, at which point it is warped completely. It is stored as information, which then you try to retrieve (or more likely salvage).

Basically, if you want to draw realistically, you want to avoid losing information. Absorb as much as you can. Avoid losing as much as you can.

For shading, regard how light strikes objects and how perspective plays into this. Consider multiple light sources or, in the case of one, how a shadow is "cast" (it is actually the absence of light, remember). Never underestimate proportions and angles. Check your work in a mirror: flip it around, upside down, and correct for anything before it becomes too late.

@Sarras

I didn't ask for criticism, though it's much appreciated anyway. I do not ask for crit because crit tends to take a lot of effort, and my "art" is mostly just scribbled hobbying. I tend to only think you crit what is worth the time. ;D My art professor from eons ago used to say many similar things. Thanks for the shading advice.

Disclaimer: I am no artist. I was a student who got all pissed off at my inability to draw as I wanted to and eventually got discouraged and gave up. ( As much as I loved watching Bob Ross, I really wanted to light that son of a bitch on fire sometimes for making stuff look so damn easy xD )

Get a book on shading. There's a lot of material to cover.

One thing that helped me was to use a small, adjustable mannequin/figurine and to see how it was shaded when a single light was shining on it. I noticed while doing this, that if you draw a straight line from your light source through the center of your object, and then make an arc that is perpendicular to the line, the resulting arc will be right where you want to shade. Making this region thinner will make it look like the light source is coming from where you are while making it thicker will make it look more like its coming from the side. If you take a ball, peanut, doughnut or doll head and a flashlight in a dark room, you can see more clearly how the shadows form.  The trick for me, was in trying to see both the shape of the object in question and how it was being shaded.

@ Rigwyn

Thanks, riggystiggy! I do have some books that include sparse shading advice, but perhaps I'll invest in one that deals with that topic strictly. I have often contemplated investing in a mannequin to help with proportions.
Title: Re: Art...sort of
Post by: Jilata on September 27, 2013, 01:28:59 am
Hmm... not sure if it helps. But I try to imagine the subject I want to shade in my mind 3 dimensional and then think where the light comes from and where the shadow should be. I am probably not completely right this way, but it works pretty well. And for drawing I pretty often examine things very closely  like where is the shadow, the proportions, the texture, the tucking? of clothes, the hair, etc.  It can creep out people if you aren't careful  ;D

There are so many different methods of shading and the one chosen can drastically change the feeling of the artwork. You asked about making shading blend well, so I believe, like many beginning artists, you are looking for that ultra smooth airbrushed look. Quality and texture of the paper you are working on will significantly effect the results.

Without using a real airbrush, choose a high quality (thicker) drawing paper with soft even texture, or even illustration board if you want something very specialized. Once you decide where to put the shading in, use a very soft art pencil (2B). These can go from very black to very light with pressure. For airbrushed look, once you rough in with the pencil, rub and blend where you've shaded with a soft cloth or tissue or artists blending tool (basically a tightly rolled soft paper stick) going from the light areas to darker. Be careful to use clean parts of the cloth or tool when you go to the next light area so that you don't get a dark smudge from the tool.

If your paper is good and thick, you have a better chance to cover up or erase mistakes. Also, learn to use your eraser to draw with as well. They work great for drawing lighter details into dark areas you've already made.

Personally, I love pencil drawing techniques where the blending is done with textures instead. It can give a drawing much more character. Still, it's good to experiment with all techniques.

Happy blending!

Now we'll add a tiny happy tree in here, and we'll surround it with some friends so it doesn't feel so lonely. And here we have this happy accident, but we'll just turn it into a little bird, because it's our painting.

Now seriously, if you want to go on about shading, don't pay attention to people saying "Oh you should use charcoal and 2B pencils!" About any pencil is good for shading. What's the catch, however? You need to apply the right pressure and understand how compact is the graphite. A sharp H pencil will create the faintest shadow, if done right, almost as if hovering over the paper with the tip.

It's all about practice and screwing around with pencils of all kinds all the time.

Mishka, no matter how hard you press on an H pencil you are not going to make black or anything near black come out of it. A soft B pencil has a very wide value range as well as the softer graphite being more responsive to pressure which is why I recommend them as being a great choice for blending. Also, they smudge much nicer with a blending tool. If you want a drawing with little dynamic range, then an H would be a better choice.

I have to admit cringing when I see the paintings that Bob Ross guy made for TV.  X-/

Could you clarify what you mean by this?

I mean using any kind of mark that will make areas appear to be dark, light, or mid tones. Random scribbling, parallel lines, stippling with dots, crosshatching, varied directional lines, controlled splattering ink from a toothbrush, pretty much any kind of marks that can be built up to change the perceived value from lights to darks. Varying the thicknesses, size, and densities of the marks for any of these techniques also can change the overall look and effect any emotional response to the art.

That's what I thought you meant.

Mariana, I think you should try a few of the techniques Dannae just described. Personally, my favorite is crosshatching. I think it would be easier for a beginner to start out using these techniques, rather than blending, because they are more controlled.

On the topic of shading, I was wondering if any of you had any hints? As to how to make it look smoother and more blended as it were. I suck at shadery, and I'm trying to apply it to this drawing:

I think this might help. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euvIWdStTs8) Listen to the part about edges, especially "losing an edge." Maybe it sounds counter-intuitive, like "But then how will the viewer be able to see something that isn't there?" The answer is here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestalt_psychology)

There needs to be a hint of light in your drawing. White space. With drawing, you're manipulating the darkness of the paper. In some places, the paper needs to be uncovered or it will look flat. I really can't tell where the light source is coming from in your drawing. You should also consider adding reflective light.

It might be a good idea to practice drawing figures, like faces and simple objects, without thinking of color. Only light and dark.

I think you should also learn how to do vectorial inking, Mariana. It's easy to do and InkScape makes it all the easier. Once there, you can color and shade quite easily. See example, it's kind of half-assed but it's what I could do best:

Inking andshading with vectors is quite easy and fast. You can control the type of stroke you want, and shape the shades as you'd like.

@Dannae: I never said I wanted black with H, silly ;P I just said that 2B aren't the Holy Grail of shading, useful for everything. But yes, you can only get true black with soft pencils.

It is called "Cel shading", trying to imitate a comic look on real 3D models, by reducing the shading levels with discrete thresholds. :(

Thanks, Volki

You never know what she might be interested in. Here's a better example of shading (this time not made by me):

WARNING: BIG IMAGE (http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs44/f/2009/058/a/6/Maid_Nagisa_Vector_01A_by_Sensei_kun.jpg)

Notice how it uses gradients as well as plain shading.

Also, cel shading is awesome.

No, you don't. Actually, this scribble looks pretty good. The proportions and shading of the face seem much better than in any of your drawings i have seen. Did you scan this one? It is a bit blurred. Also, since you mentioned you have a scanner, maybe you want to experiment with digital shading and colorization (also: Deforming and retouching can be helpful). Another good point is that you can experiment and undo things at will.
EDIT: You remember Cherppow (http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=9529), who used to be an art dev for planeshift?
A few years ago he put some gimp tutorials on youtube, also covering some simple shading colorization.
I think it was this one

@ Dannae: Thank you! I do own a few 2B pencils, I might give hem a go at adding shaded layers
@ Mishka: I don't really do digital shading, and I don't typically draw in a cartoon style, but if I ever take it up I'll take that advice!
@ Bonifarzia: Thanks! I actually had to take a picture of this one. Originally I scanned it, but my scanner is such crap that it literally whited out almost all of the shading that was done.

Adjusting the contrast and brightness after scanning the image might still look better, maybe it is worth a try.

Looks good Mariana :)

Only thing I'd change the shading of the hair. Usually when I shade hair, I don't draw the whole hair and leave out parts which are going to reflect the light. Like I did for example in this (http://frupic.frubar.net/shots/24572.jpg) picture. If the spaces are too big or too light for your taste, you can still always make them smaller/darker.

Mariana, I have an art request for you!

I would like you to draw my character. Somewhere in the woods, where the sun shines through the leaves, lighting a small clearing. I'd like her foot up on a rock. Like Captain Morgan. One hand on her knee and the other on the pommel of a longsword.

Except I don't want you to draw Sarras. Just the rest of her. The clothes.

You can include the armor and sword if you like, but I'm really just interested in the clothes. And make sure they fit. But I don't want to see Sarras, okay?

By the way, if you need help, I can send you a very long description on the details of her clothing. We can talk about all the different styles and colors. In PM. Privately.

What do you think?

Looks a little puggy. Needs more cheekbone. There is an outward bump below the lower eyelid.  The brow should be more angular and match the contour of the eyelids.

I'm trying to find something that could explain it better, but this might help for now. (http://www.fineart.sk/sites/default/files/photos/040/040.jpg)

This one was for the most part to see if I could give a klyros a "soft" or "kind" expression, or what have you. I type it out for RP a lot, but I couldn't really picture it well. I let myself use the more humanoid features of the model that's in game for this one. I'm fairly satisfied with how it turned out.

Note: I'd like practice on portraits, so if you have requests feel free to leave 'em here. I can't promise they'll be done overly fast, but I'll get to 'em.

Rendered ~ calculated by graphical software (e.g. a raytracer).

Mari, I'm confuzzled.

Is that a pectoral or is that a jiggly little bit of chest fat under the arm there? I ask because if its a pumped up little pec, then it would mean that he's a rather smooth looking male with an ambitious, non-traditional sense of style. The ability to openly express once's self like that says much about one's character and personality - notice he appears to be happy and confident.

If its chest fat, then she's probably sporting silicone sacks and not naturally grown flap jacks. Again, the handle-less silicone accessory bags might hint at a slightly more vain or narcissistic personality. Then again...  it could certainly be a female with pumped up pecs, or even a male with an unconventional obsession for the mammalian female form. Some folks admire such things through pure immersion and role play as opposed to mere voyeurism. Either way, I'm quite interested in learning more about this character.

I tried to infer the answer by looking at his/her/sher name, but "Leezurd" ... I think that sounds more male than female.  ie. "Lee  Zurd".... but that's just a guess.

There's no adam's apple either, but then again I don't think reptiles have those. If they do, then perhaps he's had a reduction? If not and he had some sort of strange implant to make him look a little more human and gender ambiguous, then I'd say he's even more peculiar ( in a good way ) This might point back to my previous theory that he's takes some sort of pleasure in been seen favorably.

All joking aside, I like this drawing. Its simple and clean .  :)

As a woman who bench presses, I can probably help you with the anatomy regarding that...

Pecs begin above the biceps and come in from the anterior of the shoulder. If you move your elbow back, you can see the outer area of the pectoral muscle pop out and create a contour against the armpit. Women have more fat as you go inward, toward the center of the chest, so understanding where the pectorals exactly are on women is kind of difficult. From the shoulder, the muscle swoops down as you near the center of the chest, but then turns up very slightly as it attaches to the sternum. However, it is located much higher than the breast and is literally right underneath the clavicle.

The klyros sketch appears to have underdeveloped breasts because the line that was meant to suggest the lower end of the pecs is seemingly where breasts would end, and the lines on the inner portion of the shoulder suggest her chest muscles are severely atrophied or injured to the point that the attachment point to the humerus is no longer visible or possible.

Other than that... Good job. xP

If we were funny enough you'd draw for us.

Instead, seppuku is the only way.

Maybe Mariana would draw instead "men, men, men, men, manly men, men, men"?..

/me necromances thread

Okay, so, explanation on this one. As per Allena (ascomoni's? Sorry if I didn't spell that right) role play, I got to imagining what it might be like of the demon Rigwyn summoned (Bazaal) fully took control of Allena's body. The tattoos all over this portrait are Ja-uh, and more can be read about them in her thread and so forth.

I'll probably do one of Rigwyn eventually. Also, a nicer one of poor Allena. With hair.  ;D

I was informed that Allena is actually a BLUE nolthrir, so I redrew her in a more pleasant light. Sorry Allena!

Not sure I'm entirely happy with it, but I tried to do a sort of symbolic "tarot card" style thing. Link because the image is rather large (I think) and the content is gory.

I decided to alter the background a tad because it strayed from what I wanted to convey with "busyness." I'll post it here (if the image is too large feel free to remove, moderators.)

Love the silouhettes and the dress's design - I think the background could benefit from more visual interest. The solid red was less overpowering without the eyes. Perhaps making the broken chain into a pattern?

?

I agree with you if I'm right about what you meant. xD The thing that bugged me about the eyes was that they were too "3D," they popped too much, and I wanted all of that focus on Prreta. The background is overwhelmingly red, I'm trying to decide what exactly I should do about it. But the broken chain as a pattern is a good idea...maybe I'll try finagling that somehow. I've also considered just adding more detail to -Prreta,- layering in the shading, defining her lines with more prominence.

Thank you for the useful feedback Candy!

Volki - the "Grumpy Cat" of PlaneShift. ;D — How about some "constructive" criticism?

@ Mariana: Scars are not just dark colored stripes. They are still fleshy and often protrude slightly, even if they may still have a groove in the center when the cuts were deep. I believe they may look a bit more credible when colored with some embossing effect, and either a bit reddish or pale, rather than blackened.

@LigH: thanks! Yeah, I realize the scars have no sway towards realism and look sloppy. These are really more sketches than anything though, so long as they come across as scars  I'm comtent.  ;D

@Demagul: I can certainly give it a go!

Please, i humbly ask you too draw mine too (with his new robe). It would be an honour too be in your art collection and i do admit that me asking now is partly because dem also got one too. That and that i for some reason like looking at my characters drawn.

Now then, i shall humbly wait in the corner. (Gets up, walks into the corner and starts setting up a tent in preparations for what is too come.)

This is far out of proportions. The face is too big in relation to the rest of the body, the face itself looks weirdly skewed, the eyes are too wide and he looks like he has a hunchback. All in all, you should really study some anatomy.
