Complaint Department / Re: Single chance riddle's flexibility
« on: July 27, 2014, 03:18:16 am »
I used a synonym for vomit ;) I believe that is acceptable now. Still what kind of person do you have to be to do that kind of work?

I failed doing this quest, because I used "vomit him", instead of "vomit dwarf". I want to add that I used the correct ordering of words...

So, this is a real nuisance.

General Discussion / Re: Idea: Stats that are hard to max
« on: April 29, 2014, 12:41:42 am »
I did propose a cap on the sum of stats some time ago, and I still believe this would be the simplest and most transparent solution. The present system relies on the discipline of players to keep some stats low. Which fails...

Same with ha casters of all ways who can kill an ulber with a single blow of their sword...

General Discussion / Re: Feedback on new progression system
« on: April 14, 2014, 06:05:46 pm »
I refuse to vote. I liked the old system after getting used to it, and , probably, I will like the new one - after getting used to it.

But I'm not sure if this is adding to player experience. Making things easier is not always making them better. When you rank up more easily, people will do that, creating an inflation of ranks in addition to the inflation of tria  and crafted goods already in effect.

Currently, I'm on vacation in New York, experiencing a bad hotel wifi, and no time to play....

Good luck to you all!

Thank you! Will test it :)

is it something like this you want? http://i.imgur.com/C8zxsQM.png you can see rigwyns post being reduced :)

Yes!

Is it easily achieved?

Thank you for caring, and
Have a nice day!

I see....

Resizing it must be :(

ad Lynx: I regularly use it when i forget to obtain the nvidia drivers before a kernel upgrade :)
And then, no X, and lynx to the rescue :)

Thank you all, and
Have fun!

Hmm.. if text was set to 80 cols with say a fixed with font, and someone tried to view it on a device with a width of less than 80 characters (ie. Mobile phone), the line wrapping would look really bad. Just curious, is this happening because of embedded pictures forcing the screen to be wider, or does your browser/device not wrap text?

The basic idea was to set a maximum for the line width, to 65 chars _at_ _most_. Narrower space would re-wrap, and no fixed line width. I use wrap now to read these texts, making the window narrower to re-wrap to something readable, which firefox nicely does. But it is a nuisance to change the size of the browser window to read a web page.

The bad way to achieve some useful effect is to put in gazillions of paragraphs, because the wide distance between lines allows the eye to travel back to the beginning of the line more easily, causing less distraction....

PS. Are you an old FORTRAN programmer? That would go well with the 80 chars... :)

A little thing which is rather bothering in effect:
There is something called typography. And one of
the simplest rules of typography is to not have lines
longer than 60-65 characters. Violating this rule
makes a text very unpleasant to read and strongly
distracts attention.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what happens in the
often rather long texts describing rp situations.
Quite often, it is too tiresome to read the text
as a consequence of this violation.

As a (tiresome) workaround, one can make the browser
window smaller to reflow the text. But it would be nice
to have a text window, which is automatically limited
to 60 chars. Is this possible? I don't know about the forum software... :(

Hmmm, I'm sorry to say, the original topic is wrong. My crashes clearly relate to the carrying of a masters wand (cw). Lots of segfaults (especially when mount/unmounting) or crossing map boundaries. Added it to a relevant bug in flyspray....

The starting of this with 0.6 was clearly coincidental.
Sorry for putting people on a wrong track.

Have fun!

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: The "I'm Bored" Conversation Thread

Karl Popper  formulated many interesting philosophical theories the falsification being one of the most interesting. And using the falsification method we surprisingly discover a lot of metaphysics theories cannot be falsified. This show how difficult is for science (especially for science) and philosophy to play on the same playground.
Hmm, I really would like to add something to this. You strictly distinguish between science and philosophy. I am pretty sure that the philosophers will have your skin for that. You can study philosophy and it is a very strict science, completely logically derivable.
In this context, discussing metaphysics, at least in our everyday context, is really bad. One cannot mix philosophy with esoteric junkfood...

In general, I agree with what you said before (maybe less than with Pierre, but ...). Just this bit is really disturbing.

Complaint Department / Pet commands do not train emp any more
« on: March 03, 2014, 11:40:55 am »
This was already mentioned in another thread.

/pet follow or stay does not train emp. Tested target and attack, but besides sometimes making my pet attacking and killing a kikiri, nothing happened. Is this a bug (then I'll gladly file it) or is it a feature (in which case, someone who knows please explain the reason behind it).

Only summon trains empathy...

Sorry I forgot, should have attended the dev meeting... :(

Good luck and thank you for feedback!

General Discussion / Re: Combine quality considerations.

Sajut, I do not agree. The way it is, players are encouraged to interact (e.g. to obtain tefu hides, which no one can obtain him/her/kra-self when needed). To take out this element from the game would take away a very special feature (!not a bug!) of the game.

Just my 2 tria...

have you tried any of the more advanced commands like /pet attack or is that not implemented yet?
The pet refuses....

@Eonwind: Sorry, I messed up. 200 hours to max is a good number also for mining. I re-evaluated my times, and pure digging does it. Sorry for answering too fast, and for answering by feeling instead of numbers. I still had the previous timing in my mind....

Thanks to everybody who cares for the game!
