[RP] The Unseen Crusade

Slaughter

Tall, fiery red hair, disfiguring burns and scars all over his body. In darkness this ynnwn sat, waiting in none other than the death realm itself. It wasn't long before two others joined him, a klyros with a relaxed manner, even more laid back them the ynnwn himself, and a demorian; young, jumpy, fearful. He would most likely die later. Of course, there was a chance they'd all die, wasn't there? Then again, if they succeeded then there was no way around death was there? And success brought a more permanent end...

The klyros, Kanti, smirked as he motioned the demorian to come forward and join him. Rioqura glanced down at Kanti, nodding before motioning to the demorian, "Who's he?"

"Hayward. He decided to tag along and help us... and no, he doesn't know anything," answered the klyros.

Rioqura noded back to Kanti, glancing at Hayward, "Just stay out of the way. If anyone comes at you, kill em. All we are doing is burning the place down mate. We start with the books, we work our way to the building and the old people." The demorian responded with a shaky nod and a gulp.

The three set off, their walk casual, moving towards the citadel. When they were close enough to the library Rioqura motioned to his two companions, "Keep guard. I'll see if there's anyone around." They nodded back to him before he drew his shield, on its very center a red mask and serpent insignia. Slowly, the ynnwn walked into the library, only to catch sight of a ynnwn, diabolo, and klyros, all about their business.

"Ey, what are you, a few of Dakkru's lackeys," Rioqura questioned, the arrogance in his voice obvious. His two allies joined him in the library, spotting the others.

Kanti grinned, noticing Kaerli, "Well...what a pleasant surprise." Then he motioned to Hayward, "You take the klyros, I'll deal with her."

Rioqura glanced from Kaerli to Kanti, "Do me a favor, kick her ass. No time to deal with it." He reached in his pocket, pulling out a red glyph, holding it out torward one of the book shelves.

Kanti threw Rioqura a smirk back, "Right. Just keep the arrows out of my ass," he said, motioning to Kiou, the other klyros.

Before Rioqura could make another move Kiou shot an arrow at him, flying past Kanti as he jumped backwards, bouncing right off Rioqura's shield at the last moment, alerted by his klryos companion's yell. Quickly a fight broke out, Kaerli charging and thrusting at Hayward, Kanti yelling after her, claws outreached for the ynnwn's back.  Hayward cries out in pain as the blades pierce him, Kaerli ducking down as Kanti goes over her, his landing graceful in front.

Vayl turned to Rioqura, her swords combusting, red flames licking the blade. Rioqura blinked surprised for only a second, a grin on his face as he drew his own sword, setting it aflame, "Ah, know a little red way yourself eh girly? Come on then!" He rushed towards her, shield infront of his chest, blade outward toward her torso, deflecting instead on her sword, her other banging on his shield.

Flames started to burst from the two warriors while Kaerli's blades tore at Hayward's body. The two klyros were locked in battle, punches and kicks flying from Kanti while daggers and arrows came from Kiou. At first the battle was even on both sides for the most part, until reinforcements arrived in the Citadels defense. Quickly Hayward was killed, Kanti to follow him afterwards. Then it was only Rioqura, quickly at the edge of death, a blade from Uoswdis puncturing his neck, another from Kaerli stabbing his side. Quickly he released a spire of flame around him, causing the two to jump backwards while he tried to escape but there were too many.

Exits closed off, no chance of finishing the mission, he sighed. It didn't take long before a menki, Darmyr, gutted him with two short swords. The ynnwn fell to the ground, the battle over.

His body disappeared into the darkness, faded away, only to reappear again, in the Death Realm, alive and healed. The battle was over and they lost...No, that was a lie. They had won for there can be no losing. Rioqura looked at his hands, burns and all. He was still alive for a reason, he knew it, his job was incomplete. It would take more than just a few men next time....and even more for what was to come.

But there was no need to worry, for the power he works for, the power they work for is absolute. Whether they die or live they win every battle and if they all have to die to do it they will win the war.

[first go, i know not great, but i enjoyed writing it. My char's perspective and thoughts during my fight. Duraza take note of my name for the next event!]

I never really liked conflict, odd for my job yes, but true nevertheless. Now here i was, sucked into a fight in the death realm of all places. Wasn't even being payed. I chose my side easily. I was with two others, against an even force. I immediately grabbed my bow, notching an arrow quickly. Thinking back i should have run to higher ground. Then i saw the first move.

The Ynwyn with the shield raised an arm, glyph in hand. Good enough for me, i loosed an arrow aimed straight at his hand. If only he was alone, jumping back a Klyros yelled to him, and the Ynwyn raised his shield. I must say i was satisfied with the impact, but not the location. The Klyros had jumped quite high, but he still managed to land and spring towards me, the Demorian charging me as well. Bad move, the Diaboli lady sprang into action, quite admirably. In a flash she stabbed the Dermorian, through his side.

Fantastic, just like that the odds were better. But he wasn't done, yet, he scrambled over the counter and started to treat himself. Another beginner mistake. One i avoided later. As the Klyros rushed me with speed equal to my own, which is quite something, i realized even I couldn't use my bow in this timeframe, and dropping it i backed away. Without thinking i took out my daggers. But he went for the Diaboli instead. She flung him over her back and over the counter, i threw in a dagger for good measure. The Klyros landed nimbly on the other side, this guy was starting to bother me.

The Diaboli went to finish the Dermorian, but i had bigger problems. That damn Klyros was charging me again. At this point i realized i needed to deal with his speed, i don't have all day to run around with him. I decided to take a gamble, charge him, take the hit, and let loose an arrow at close range. He was unarmed, id survived worse than claws before. There was some banter, funny how that melts away in the face of combat.

I ran, sick of defending, getting ready to stick an arrow in him. I underestimated him, he jumped over me slashing at my back, i managed to dodge but lost my arrow. Stupid. I wasn't quick enough though, the gash in my back reminded me once more, that i don't need a bow, i need daggers. Dropping my bow i prepared my daggers, and not a moment too soon, he slashed at my wing, a Klyros weak-spot. Trying again to slow him down i grabbed his arm, while using my other arm to thrust at his neck, a small nick could decide the fight. Surprise, surprise, he dodged.

Another claw thrust aimed at my chest, finally something i could exploit. I decided to take the thrust full on, it was focused on a point, and i made that point my sternum. It fractured on impact, but his arm had taken the shock, i had an opening. Another neck thrust, still my best option. This time, success, a nick, enough to kill him, but not as quickly  would have liked. Then he did something i never expected. He tackled me, sacrificing his speed and mine. Great minds think alike.

Falling to the ground i grabbed another dagger, this time, my speciality. An exploding dagger, albeit a less powerful one. I tried to stick it in his chest, sure it would hurt me too, but if i got an arm between the dagger and myself, id survive, and he would not be so lucky. Then we were on the ground, my dagger headed for his chest, his claws aimed at my neck. Suddenly i heard a sound, my sister and her companions. This gave me an idea, i could hurt us both, id have a healer, he wouldn't. Works for me. Then the explosion, i could have sworn time slowed down, his chest expanded slowly, and in a split second exploded. At the last possible second i got my arm above my chest. He was dead instantly, i had some time. All i could do was cup my good hand to my neck. I heard my sister say something, but my ears were ringing. I passed out.
-----------
I woke up less than a minute later, my arm shredded, with fractured ribs, and s fractured sternum. My neck had been healed and i could breath. My sister and her companions had done well, without them id be dead. Before thinking i reached for my glyphs, and my sister handed me them. I managed to grab my energy glyph and start healing. After a few moments i was fine, not feeling too great, but alive. I crawled up to the counter to sit up.

But i still heard battle noises, one of them must still be alive. I tried to grab an arrow while asking my sister for my bow. She looked at my wounds for a second, but knew me too well, and she handed me my bow. I never had to use it.

[after that i didn't see, i was on the other side of a shelf, basically last baddie died. Thanks to all that was my first rp, and wicked fun, and this is my first write-up, also wicked fun, do me a favor and don't compare this to the amazing works of duraza. I broke it up a bit, hope this makes it marginally less awful.]

[ \\o//  Woohoo! Yeah, I had a lot of fun in this! I look forward to possibly being involved in some more!]

Eckar had just finished loading another pile of ore into the furnace in Gug when she heard a voice in her head.. it said, "Defend the Death Realm!" She tilted her head and shrugged it off, thinking she must've just been hearing things.. when again, it yells, "Defend the Death Realm!" She denied the voice, shaking it off yet again.. when she heard, "Do you wish to return to Yliakum from the Death Realm...ever?" She growled in what seemed like confusion when she heard it again, yelling and piercing through her head, "Defend the Death Realm!" Realizing she must do as the voice said, she sent a note to Uosdwis, the one she always trusted at her side, saying: "I do not know what is going on brother..but something is wrong. I hear these voices in my head.. they're telling me that I must protect the Death Realm.. if I don't..the innocent will never get a second chance.. I can't allow it. -Eckar"

Shortly after scribbling up the letter and sending it on it's way she unsheathed her sword, driving it through her chest. She woke up groggy, but Uosdwis was at her side. Quickly Darmyr showed up, getting wind of what Uosdwis had read. Quickly she moved to her feet and drew her other sabre, clenching them tight.

Uosdwis' voice focused her attention as he asked, "Do you have any details for us?" She shifted her wings and glances down the long grate of the bridge, her senses seeming to tell her that her brother, Kiou was there. She focused her gaze back on Uosdwis and Darmyr and told spoke slowly, "All I know.. is that something is wrong here. People will not have another chance to live.. if we do not stop this.."

Quickly they darted down the bridge, Eckar in front. She overheard a commotion inside the library and quickly stepped in. She peered around the room, her eyes narrowed in concentration as she said, "What is going on here.."

She caught eye of Kaerli, who quickly motioned for her to go somewhere with her head. Eckar followed her gaze and realized it was to her brother, Kiou. He was on the ground, another Klyros, Kanti,  on top of him, holding him there.

His nails punctured Kiou's neck and Kiou quickly stabbed his dagger into Kanti's chest then retracted his arms to protect himself. Eckar tried to pull Kanti off of her brother, but before she could do anything Kanti winced, his skin expanded and, ultimately, his insides began to pour out from the explosion inside of him.

She knew nothing other than to follow her instincts, her attention quickly focusing back on her brother who was cupping at his neck, drawing his arm up over his chest. She clasped her hand over his wound and said, "Hang in there brother..please.." Kiou passed out in her arms, his neck bleeding, sternum and ribs fractured..his arm broken. She searched through her glyph sack desperately, finding her energy glyph, pressing it to his neck as she passed the healing energies through her fingertips into him. Kiou took shallow, ragged breaths, coughing up blood as she worked on him. She focused all of her energy into him, healing his neck, forcing his fractures to pull back together and heal.

He quickly woke up, coughing, reaching for his glyph sack. She helped him retrieve it and asked if he could stand. He said, "yes, but I am not going to" and looked at his bow.. asking for it. She swiftly shifted her hands and passed it to him. She knew nothing else.. just stood guard in front of her brother as he sat on the ground.. before she realized.. it was all over. The Death Realm had been defended.. what happened to the others.. she was unsure, all she knew was that it was over..

Faceless Meeting

Steps with a small red carpet lead to the alter, and upon the alter lay a golden hand, all hidden in rooms made of shadow, in a temple that does not exist, in a world trapped behind black torches. Alkanar stood before the alter, his ears ringing with the sound of the Whisper's dark voice. He had been summoned, though for what purpose he had yet to find out.

Saggi walked down the tunnel, into the main room of the temple, his hand brushing away some soot and ash from his robe, eyes looking up at the Xacha infront of him, "Ah, well well well, what have we here?"

Alkanar turned back to Saggi, his head cocked back a little bit. "Have you been summoned here as well?" The ynnwn nodded and so Alkanar responed, "Call me Skrein."

"Right. I am Saggi Lezeheso. Tell me...Skrein. No one in this temple goes without purpose....some goal. What is yours, what are you trying to accomplish?"

Alkanar turned back to the statue, now facing Saggi. "I want power. Power to control my own destiny."

For a moment Saggi thought, then finally he gave Alkanar a nod, smirking, "Right, you want your power....And I think I see why it was we both stand in the temple." Slowly the ynnwn reached into a small pouch by his side, pulling out a small shard of dark crystal, "True power must be aquired by careful planning, deception, destruction. I will destroy the followers of Dakkru, of Xiosia, of Talad, one at a time. I will make Laanx hated throughout Yliakum....undermine it all."

"So, were you brought here to give me a shard, or is there something more?"

Saggi placed the shard back in the pouch before tossing it to Alkanar, "I was brought here...to make you the new face of Dakkru. Give the would a reason to hate her. Real Dakkru followers will join you...I know it."

It did not take long for Alkanar to reach the Death Realm....There he met Vertum and presented him with his shard of the Dark Crystal which he claimed he was 'returning to its rightful place.'

Reuniting

Among the dark halls of the Death Realm, Demoik wandered, nothing but his two broadswords and a loincloth with him. His eyes eventually spotted another ynnwn and a klyros with him. Quickly and silently he went up to them, his face void as he reached the pair.

"Rioqura, its been a while."

Shocked at first, Rioqura examined Demoik. Then he let out a hearty laugh, "Finally got yourself killed Demoik?" Kanti joined him in the laugh but Demoik didn't seem as pleasant.

"There's no time for your idiotic games. I need to go to the Citadel. After I've gotten what I need I'll have to go....both times must be under cover. I don't even want anyone to know I've been here....Any ideas?"

Priceless Research

For a full day Demoik rested on one of the upper pathways in the Citadel of Death Realm, moving if anyone were to approach, to another hiding spot. In the cold dark he waited for the signal Rioqura promised he'd give when it was time to move.

"Get ready Citadel! Today we burn this place to the ground! For Laanx! For our masked god of Yliakum," came shouting, ringing throughout the darkness around them.

That would do it... Demoik quietly moved into the library's main room where he saw many of the acolytes and readers filling out, some with swords drawn. Obviously they weren't very surprised...Still, for his needs this would do quite well. Meanwhile, within the library Alkanar, a new Xacha acolyte, gathered those present together.

Alkanar looked around quickly, taking a glance at everyone. "This isn't good. If we just stay holed up in here, the rest of the Citadel will fall!" He motioned for everyone to come by him, in the end three klyros and a diabolo, pointing at two the the klyros, Eckar and Velatrius, "You two come with me. The rest take the path to the left when leaving the library. We need to cover every inch of the Citadel."

Eckar and Velatrius both nodded, following Alkanar out down the lower path. Quickly, Vayl, the diabolo, and Kiou, the other klyros, ran the other way to head whatever forces they could find off.

In the quiet Demoik slipped in, moving silently between shelves. He was dressed in purple robes, wearing a skull mask, looking the part of one of Dakkru's priests incase on were to appear. The library contains many books, much of them written by Londris himself. However, other agebound and high priests after the years have written the works of these cases, some of them darker than others.

Rioqura stared up, glancing at the two men, xacha and klyros, and the second klyros, a female, all armed. He smirked, in front of him 5 lemur's, each masked in red, short sword readily in their firm grips. With a certain voice, he spoke, "For Laanx this place will be destroyed."

Eckar gave the ynnwn a sneer as she glared at him, "You so sure about that?" Before he could answer Alkanar was already in action, raising his arms, red way energy flowing through him.

"You're the foolish one for coming here. You will only end up sacrificing yourselves to Dakkru in the end." With that he conjured a storm cloud above the group, lightning striking down wildly at them. Three of the lemurs were unfortunate, hit right away and meeting the end the xacha promised, the other 2 striking Alkanar with their blades making contact with his shoulder and stomach, luckily dodging a ball of fire sent after him by Rioqura.

Eckar was quick to respond, close to one of the other lemurs, trying but unsuccessful at attacking the man back before receiving a wound of her own in her left wing. Enraged and determined Velatrius ran up to the lemur, his blades going for the masked mans legs. Quick on his feet, the lemur jumped up before delivering a blow the the klyros' head, the impact mostly absorbed by his helmet.

Eckar let out a growl thrusting her sabre violently into the lemur's chest, stabbing him through the heart. The masked man let out a cry of pain, the cold metal tearing through him before he fell to the floor, dead in a puddle of his own blood. Velatrius was quick to finish the other one, spinning towards the last lemur, his axe chopping right at the man's unprotected neck, mask and head flying off, hitting the ground in the brutal chop.

Still weak, Alkanar rested while the two klyros turned to face Rioqura, Eckar kicking one of the fallen masks away. Before they knew it the ynnwn ran off, trying to escape. Both klyros cut him off quickly, standing with blades drawn. Before they could make a move a cloud of darkness surrounded them and by the time it had faded so had he. With a frown and a few curses they ran off to join their other comrades.

Demoik found what he was looking for, flipping through the pages and checking for the authors name. It was correct, as was it on the other tome he had selected. Quickly he slipped the two tomes into the folds of his clothing, glancing around a few times to make sure none had seen him. He still had one more thing to deal with.

Kanti smirked, standing with five masked Lemurs in one of the outer halls, "Hey again! Maybe you'll see how it feels to be outnumbered now," he said to Vayl and Kiou as they approached.

Quickly, Vayl's hands wend for her longsword hilt, eyeing them darkly. Quickly she drew, at the same time flicking a dagger from within her cloak at one of the 5 lemurs, piercing through the mask into his face, making him fall to the ground. Another lemur rushed her, but the diabolo was to quick, her sword lashing out at his, making it fall into the dark pit below them.

Kiou pulled out his bow, quickly knocking an arrow. He pulled on the string gently, holding it at the max for only a moment before releasing, the arrow hissing through the air and finding itself embedded in one of the lemur's skulls.

Kanti frowned, spitting on the ground, "Useless." He motioned a hand, one of the lemur's rushing at Kiou, while the lemur nearest Vayl tried to back away, still disarmed. Kiou jumped back a bit, unable to fully defend the lemur's attack, slightly injured in his chest, Vayl turning to him instead, thrusting at the lemur attacking the klyros while the other backed away. Quickly the masked man ducked, slashing Vayl in the thigh before an arrow landed in his own back, making him fall into the darkness.

The last armed lemur quickly fell, leaving Kanti with the man who lost his blade, "Time for the fun," he shouted laughing. Then he rushed at Vayl, while the weaponless lemur rushed Kiou. The last lemur was quickly defeated, Kanti, in mid-rush, falling prey to Vayl's blade, pierced in the chest, blood spilling down his lips. Quickly the klyros tried to attack back but Vayl was once again too fast, a spire of flame rising around her just as Kanti disarmed her, forcing him to jump backwards.

Quickly Eckar and Velatrius rush to the battle scene, Eckar leaping as Kanti moved, swinging her saber into the air, then down upon the klyros' head. Un-expecting and unprotected, the blade lodged into his fragile skull, Kanti quickly falling limp to the ground, dead.

Done with his business, Demoik quickly left the way he came, back into the upper pathways of the Citadel, then away, into his hiding spot in the Death Realm. If Rioqura and Kanti were to survive they would meet there. If not, it wouldn't matter. He'd simply have to do things on his own.

(Sorry, its been a while. As always, I'm busy but I had a moment so heres some reading, short but there should be more to come. :P )

Alkanar sat within the Citadel library, looking over some of the books and reading them studiously. The realm was quiet, at least it was until Vertum crossed into the room, frown on his face.

"What's wrong," Alkanar questioned after looking up from his book.

"I have failed my duty is what's wrong," Vertum muttered, looking seconds away from lashing out. "As a Crystal Warden my only duty is to cultivate and protect the shards of dark crystal we find....And I find now that a few shards were stolen."

Shocked, Alkanar stood, looking up at Vertum, "Stolen, when by who? Everything has seemed quiet for the past few days.."

"I know. I suspect it happened during that last attack....There was a note left." From his pocket he brought up a note, on one side of the piece of brown parchment words and on the other side the picture of a red, frowning mask. Alkanar snatched the note while Vertum continued to speak, "The attacker that left this note asked me to bring Dakkru's arena to life..."

"What will you do?"

"What they ask....But I'm not a complete idiot. I'll enlist help. I've a feeling that this tournament means something to them too... They are after something. I'll make sure to have those under my banner in this next fight, we will be prepared." When Alkanar nodded he tapped his chin, "I suspect I can count on you to serve as one of my own in this battle to come?"

With another nod Alkanar smirked, "Of course."
