Poetry Corner
« on: June 08, 2011, 12:54:59 am »
I randomly used a line from a poem I wrote about over a year ago in RP tonight. It wasn't planned, but the moment brought it to mind. Upon logging off I opened the text file which holds most of every poem I've written in the past five years to find it and read through it. It was written on a riverboat sailing down the Mississippi. It was a private party and all the other passengers were getting ripped, while I sat contemplating the works of Rilke, watching the sun set, and composing poetry. I tell you this because I believe you and I are the same. We fail to reconcile with the world we find ourselves placed, so we spend our time creating our own.

So, for the beatnik in all of us, I'd like to share the poem with you now, and also include a haiku when I'm finished. Feel free to post your own works. Please consider the following: This thread should only contain poetry, no commentary on the poetry already posted. Also, posts should be limited in length. If you should be so disposed to want to share your entire oeuvre, please do so at a reasonable pace, not all at once.

So sit back, sip your double soy latte, and enjoy. cool daddy-o.

The Subtleties of an Evening Cloud

There is truth in distance
sadness in the last of the dying stars
the sin of asking anything from anyone
is as great as
not giving what is asked
as not taking what is given

the weight i carry
the desperation for something static
there is peace in the subtleties of an evening cloud

peaches in pear juice

delicate as the
scrolls of the sea of the dead
decadent silk legs
all blessings to the assembled devotees.

i was going to post a nice poem i did in school.

but then my dog peed on my bed. and the schoolwork.

so... well... dammit.

"There was once a polar bear
Who lived on Antarctica.
She had really fuzzy white hair
And was named Rica.
One day it became ueber hot
And the ice began to disappear.
Rica couldn't help slipping a lot.
She burst into flames!"

i had like 1 minute to write that.  X-/ then, underneath the poem-thing, i drew a picture of a flaming polar bear floating on a slab of ice. now she's drenched in urine.

...that dog is sleeping on the floor! >:(

There's a technique on how to get the dog to have 'discipline'... Simply grab the dog by the nose, lift them up, and shove their face into the urine. This is a working method that my father used... And still uses.

Ok, so I'm off topic.. So let's go back to topic, eh?
Ardoin: So, do you drink moonshine?
Earowo: As long as it has alcohol, I'll drink it.

soo a long long time ago in a high school far far away I had to write a 50 line poem [sorry if it is too long feel free to skip it XD]

Once there was a monkey named Jim Bob Joe
One day he saw his friend who was called Moe
Jim Bob Joe and Moe ate some bananas
When they were done they saw Moe’s old Nana
And ran away because she talks too much
They went to Moe’s hut and searched through his hutch
Jim Bob Joe and Moe found a giant ball
Then Jim Bob Joe kicked the ball at a wall
The ball bounced off it and hit Moe’s Mother.
Then she sent them to play some place other
They were now bored so they robbed a big bank
But they got caught by a monkey named Frank
Frank was very mean so he put them in jail
Frank kept them in jail till they could make bail
There bail was set at sixty bananas
Moe used his one phone call to call Nana
Moe pleaded with Nana till she paid bail
Then Jim Bob Joe and Moe got out of jail
Nana made them promise to be good boys
And then she sent them to play with their toys
After that they played on the jungle gym
Once they got bored they went for a long swim
When they were done they went to Jim Bob Joe’s
And went to the garden and picked a rose
Jim Bob Joe and Moe took it to Nana’s
They thanked her for paying the bananas
Then they built a humongous rocket ship
And got in it and took it on a trip
They went to Mars and milked a space cow
Then the space cow shot them and they said “OW!â€
But they were okay so they flew away
Then they went to Pluto and played all day
The next day they flew all the way back home
They landed on a small red garden gnome
Later that day they were up in a tree
Moe found a lamp and set the genie free
Moe wished they had wings so that they could fly
The second wish was that they could not die
The genie said it was against a rule
So instead he wished to be done with school
Thirdly he wished George wasn’t curious
This made the T.V people furious
This upset the authors and book stores too
The man in the yellow hat tried to sue
Jim Bob Joe and Moe felt sorry for him
They gave him a job in there brand new gym
They left the man and went to Taco Bell
Then they left it because of a bad smell
The monkeys didn’t know what else to do
So they decided to live in the zoo

My eyes lays open,
To the fact we will be leaving,
As they look 'round,
Through the distance that we came.

They gaze aloft,
To the heavens in their reeling,
Like stars in motion,
Things don't remain the same.

I heard the crying of a hundred thousand ages
Ringing through me.
I heard the laughter of a hundred thousand sages
Who somehow knew me.

See the magic of the clear and flowing river,
Sparkling water; nature's giver.
Taste the precious food which Mother Earth supplies,
And know the line is up to us to draw.

I heard the crying of a hundred thousand ages
Ringing through me.
I heard the laughter of a hundred thousand sages
Who somehow knew me.

it appears that people like rhyme, so here goes:

Mocking God

It is a difficult thing
to bring pain and pull heart strings
harps sing and harpies cling
clutch the wretched
hold the suffering

as the fog rises
the heat sets in
the sins of the meat and flies
begins again

behold the terrible truth!
the cold is as bearable
on the tooth as it is
on the the empty bed

it is a difficult thing
to go without thinking
as the sun does sink
the sand castles are missing
their kings and queens

all blessings to the assembled devotees.

If I post the content of my poems here, it will end with my third forum account being banned.

Up all night in the Kada-El
Can't sleep
Can't type
Can't speak
Can't spell
All's well !

Dear cloud! Rest your load.
Sit a while. Blur memories.
