Horses, Beasts & Pack Animals

If this is already an Item on the list forgive me...
I looked around didn\'t see it.

Having a pack animal of some sort, like a horse, that could carry you and your gear would of course be useful.
But it would also make for a whole new set of game play and character development.
Sure your high level but, you walk on foot! ... Ha!

First,
Resource management:
Horses cost a lot of money to buy
They cost money to stable if your in town
They Need Food & Water - which if your on the right land should not be a big deal
They can Carry extra Items and a lot  of them

Next,
Character Modifiers:
Pluses Speed and Movement: You move faster on a riding beast and running sucks! ...duh :)
Pluses to your Charisma - you are much more imposing on a horse and chics dig \'em :)
Pluses to attack Characters on foot- if you have good horsemanship skill or basic
War Horsemanship Skill
Minuses to Attack Characters on foot if you have no Horse Skill - Your hanging on for dear life :)
Pluses to your Armour Rating or Defense stats-horses are big and scary to attackers on foot

Plus,
More Stuff to Buy:
Hey I\'ve got cool Armor my Horse or Beast need some too!

Last but not all,
The Right Beast for the Enironment or Character
Camel or a War Camel  - You could use a horse in the desert but, why... :)
Ride a Giant Bore or A Giant Swamp Rat - your an evil Troll like character and your a bad A$$, you need an a riding beast to fit!

I know this would probably be one of the last major things to come online but, it would add a whole new aspect to the world.



Please post if you like this idea! That way it might get more attention from the Developers.

not quite fond of the idea ...don\'t know why, but i it doesn\'t fit in the World of PS ...it\'s a great idea though ...but, at least for now, i think it would be something that would disturb the coherency and harmony of PS ...it just doesn\'t fit in yet

but later it could be great, if PS evolves in the \"right\" way for this idea.

maybe horses, camels, and some fantasy creatures (winged, water creatures, bipedal ...)

yea, water creatures!! ...if you would become friends with a water creature (e.g. using your beastmaster/animaltrainer skill, save it\'s life...) it could carry you on the water (so you don\'t need to pay for the  ship or raft) or come to help when you call it (if you are in need by the water or on water itself)

I thought there already were creatures to ride and get around on?  Why would we need horses?

The creatures used in PS are for merchants only, which would greatly limit how many there were, and merchants are only allowed one, which is rather cool as well

Sounds a bit too much like EQ, where they added all these animals to ride half as a \"status symbol\" half to get all the insane amount of cash people were walking around with out of the game.  I felt like one of the main goals of the game after a while was just to get a horse, and that was no fun :/

Part of it is that I just hate running all the time.  :D
And Dark Age\'s horse taxi is just lame.

Also, I think if riding beasts where handled in a semi-realistic fashion that they would work out fine.
Other systems tried to massivily limit horses and such.
Which is why they failed.

There would be, some limitations but, I believe you keep it sensible.
Like you can\'t ride your beast into the ground or your investment may be lost.
You would not be allowed to ride your beast inside a city, you would have to tie it up outside or escort it to a stable.

Plus, animal friendly character classes would be able to use abilities to tame a exotic riding beast.
I would think that this would be at least a Moderately high level feat thou and would have it\'s limitations like duration.

I know this is a Fantasy world but, the best part of RPGs sometimes is the realizm.
Emergent gameplay is the key to MMORPGs.
Keep the players options open and make Tools; not predictable mechanisms for a task or problem.

Well, there will be flying stuff, and riding stuff (but not horses). I mean, remember. It\'s still an underground world. It was suggested that you could ride lizards and stuff, but check out the site where it says all the transportations....

Horses smorsish, as long as I won\'t have to run my whole life!   :P
