Welcome to PlaneShift!  \\o//  I'm sure others will jump in with advice shortly...but my quick advice is even though the tutorial is boring/wordy do it: you get free stuff like money and maybe pants! Also, don't be afraid to ask other players for help but remember to do it in character if you can  :)

Wired.com has blacked out the headlines on their website homepage as well [but you can still view the stuff]
If you want to join the strike you can go to http://sopastrike.com/#how-to-strike or just google it ..  :P
Tumblr even has an option for people to black out their tumblr pages

click on the picture under the event name - it gives you time, date, IG date and amount of time until the event starts. Also, it gives the purpose/history, location, how it is celebrated and the host of the event.  :)
