Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Problem with Windows Client

Hi all, I'm having an issue with the Windows version (PlaneShift-v0.4.03)
I install, and when I try to run any of the clients, I get this error message: "this application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling this application may solve this problem." It doesn't. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled-redownloaded-reinstalled all to no avail.
Before you mention that I try Linux, I dual-boot Ubuntu/XP. I got that client to run no problem, except that it crashes every few minutes...which is no big deal I guess, but I can't get much done, lol. I tried to compile my own client in Ubuntu, because I love all things geeky, and that's fully geeky. Epic Fail.
So, I thought I'd try it on XP (not compiling it, just installing it and playing in Windows). Epic Fail.
I've researched the forums, and everything that could be an issue points to an earlier version of the client.
So, I'm at a loss...any ideas?
My computer specs are:
Ubuntu 8.10/ Windows XP SP3
1.13 Ghz Intel Pentium III
512 MB RAM
Nvidia FX 5200 128 MB PCI

I meant that I'm going to start playing one night, and not stop for the following 30+ hours. I did something like this on a different MMORPG that I played. A friend and I challenged each other to see who could play the longest without stopping, I made it 38 hours before falling asleep in my chair while in-game. It rocked. s

I love this, as I said before. One of these nights is going to turn into a 30+ hour PS marathon for me, I can feel it coming, lol.

I don't know if this is the appropriate plave for this. If not, I ask the mods please move it for me.
I want to say thank you, so much, to the developers and everyone involved with making PlaneShift. I am having so much fun, and I just started playing last night. I realized it is in it's alpha stage when I downloaded the client, but I didn't (and still don't) care. The client crashes, but ---I don't care, this game is incredible. Watching it grow and mature is going to be intense, Congratulations on such a great success.
You are making such a spectacular game, and I'm so happy to be allowed to be a part (albeit a small one) of it.
Keep up the incredible work you are doing, and thank you again.

I know the title has already been set, but getting to the end and noting that the original title needed to be changed, I thought I'd put in a suggestion anyway.
How about a nod to the great Douglas Adams, and naming it "The Hitchhiker's Guide to PlaneShift"?
Anyway, fantastic guide Eliseth, I really enjoyed reading it. I also learned quite a bit. Thank you!
