The Arcane Order is the biggest mages guild in yliakum If you want to join our guild, read through this thread and visit our website, after that we require each member to come to our IRC channel to have a talk with some of the councilmembers(read our pages for more information).

O.K. let me get to the revamps, recently we found many holes in our ranks so we have revamped oursystem, The council now consists of:

Arcane Spellsword  ? SnowWolf
Arcane Loremaster  ? Karakth
Arcane Nightblade  ? Axsyrus

Head Librarian  ? Ave
Headmaster of Field Studies  ? Malentor
Chief Ambassador  ? Druke

The Changes
To facilitate the management of guild affairs, a new Council has been put in place. These members will take care of any pending guild business (like promotions) and then begin the task of writing and implementing the new guild bylaws. After this has been accomplished and the guild has stabilized, members of the Order will have an opportunity to voice their opinions and make any necessary changes to the guild leadership.

The new Council is made up of the Arcane Triumvirate and three of the guild?s project leaders. All members of the Council have equal say in higher guild matters.

Ranks
or other ranks are still the same

Spellswords - This branch is for fighters who practice magical skills to aid in combat, thus Fighter/Mages. Our spellswords are our protection, the threat of their revenge serves to keep our guild at peace and Spellsword will protect fellow members on quests etc.

NightBlades - This branch is for rogues who use magic to aid improve their stealth, spying, stealing, backstabbing etc. They are thus Rogue/Mages. Nightblades serve as AO\'s eyes and ears, they provide us the necessary intelligence and subversive capability we need to survive in a dangerous world.

LoreMasters - This branch is for our pure mages, who will mainly practice their magical abilities. The LoreMaster branch is the mainstay of Mages that make AO the Mage guild that it is, however all three branches have equal status and are equally important to AO.

Projects, etc
We have many projects also in Progress such as hexaglyphs, the arcane tower construction project, the arcane library, and many others.

Roleplay is also Highly encouraged, we have many great materials in the Arcane Library many people i have spoken with say the especially enjoy Serdin\'s Diary We also have our forum based RP which takes place around the tower, and quite possibly other places.


Public Writings
We now have a new section in our Library: Public Writings
This section was created to allow non-members to have their works published in the Arcane Library.
To be able to start writing, you will have to create an account.
Once your registration is complete, your name will appear in the list of Guests in the Guestbook and you`ll be ready to start writing.


Joining
As many of you know AO is invite only, however this isn\'t ment to be a scary thing, it merly lets us sift through and find who is serious and who is not, if you jsut come to our irc channel (more on that below), or participate in other things (such as the forum rp) you will almost surely get an invite.

The greatest battle a warrior must face is the battle against fear.  All who take the life of the mercenary have emerged victorious from this conflict.  When death is no longer feared, an obstacle becomes a tool.  This tool shall not be used in the name of politics, honour, justice or love.  The services of the Guild may only be called upon in exchange for currency.  A life is worthless, until a bounty is placed upon it.  Beyond that, your motivations are not our concern.  
 

?Death is the only law, and we are its masters?  

 

Our world is one of chaos, not order, and strength inevitably triumphs ? the Guild is a bastion of strength and, inevitably, it shall triumph.  If you are weak, our strength may be purchased.  The guild offers a range of services, a range of prices, and a range of operatives.  The harder the job, the higher the price; the more experienced the operative you choose to employ, the more you must pay.  Espionage, guild wars, body guarding, armed escort, garrisoning ? all are within our abilities, as long as they are within your budget.  If you have the gold, we have the steel.

Be aware, that while the Guild is above the petty squabbles of politics, and its primary motivation is the pursuit of wealth, its members are loyally bound to each other through their knowledge of pain.  Treachery shall not be tolerated, whether between members or from outsiders.  The pride of the Guild shall at all times be maintained, and shall be mortally defended by its champions if it is challenged.  Therefore, do not doubt that to cross us is to welcome death, no matter how much you can pay.

Ranks:

Apprentice
-Apprentices are the lowest point of the guild, everyone will start as an apprentice. As an apprentice you will be paid nothing. If you prove yourself worthy you will go through the initiation process to become a fully fledged member of the guild.

Initiate
-Once you have proven yourself you will go through the initiation process where you will tell a Champion why you want to join the guild and give him/her a brief description of your character.

Foot Soldier
-If your skills in combat are good enough you will be promoted to a foot soldier you are now the basic combat unit, however at this point you have very little independence, you must still follow orders explicitly and your group will be led by at least a veteran.

Mercenary
To get yourself to this level you will have to show exceptional skills in combat compared to your fellow foot soldiers. from this point on you will be given more independent missions that may be less team based, and you will have an element of decision making in guild issues.

Veteran
-Once you know pretty much all there is to know about mercenary life you will be considered for this rank. This rank provides a fair amount of status as from now on you will hold some leadership over the lower ranks.

Agent
-After proving yourself an adept Veteran, you will be considered for the rank of Agent. As an Agent, you will recieve even more authority over lower ranks.

Master-at-Arms
-Few can ever hope to attain this rank, to get to this point you must have truly extraordinary skills in combat. But to get to this rank is well worth it, you have immense reputation throughout the guild and you are granted great leadership over the lower ranks.

Commander
-To get to this rank not only must you be one of the best combatants of all time, but you must also show a great adeptness at leadership. At this point not only do you have the responsibility of total leadership over all of the lower ranks, but you also get to raise new issues and suggest possible improvements to the guild.

Champion
-These are the leaders of the guild. Each controls one division. Not only do you have to be about the most skilled warrior, but you must be a natural leader who shows wisdom and discernment. The Guild Council is composed of the five Champions from each Division.


Divisions:
-The Mercenary Guild is split into five Divisions. Members choose which division suits them best, based on thier skills. Everyone must be in one, and only one, division. The Champions of each division make up the ruling Council of Champions. Info on these divisions is as follows...

Phoenix Division
-The Phoenix division is the main offensive division. It prides itself upon its efficiency and strength. They are the fighters, trained how to destroy the enemy with speed and grace. Trained for close quarters combat; they are the main soldiers of the guild; hard, tough, and indomitable. They work together in larger groups than the other divisions, and are well trained in simple offensive formations and maneuveres.

Cerberus Division
-The Cerberus division is the main defensive division. It prides itself upon its tactical finesse and invulnerability. They are trained heavily in advanced formations and techniques for countering enemy attacks. They?re purpose is to stop enemy advancement, defend buildings and people.

Current Champion: Keung

Griffon Division
-The Griffon Division is the long range division. They pride themselves on accuracy and range. They are trained either in use of ranged weapons or long range magic, as well as how to use the terrain to their advantage. Griffons are highly useful in both defensive and offensive maneuveres.

Current Champion: Icefalcon

Wraith Division
-The Wraith Division is the main stealth and reconnaissance division. They pride themselves upon agility and stealth. They are trained how move without being seen or heard, how to make contacts and find the truth. They are also given training in the martial arts. Wraiths often work alone but train together.

Current Champion: Empanado

Pegasus Division
-The Pegasus Division is the main battle support division; they provide healing and augment the other mercenaries. They pride themselves upon wisdom and intelligence. They are trained in the arts of healing, alchemy and augmentation of skills. Pegasus units will often work with teams, providing support and strength. They are intended to be the smaller of the divisions as one healer should be able to support several warriors.
