Title: What Hills and Mountains??!
Post by: FlippySeal on August 26, 2004, 04:24:31 am
Sorry just had to ask...

How can their be mountains and hills... if there aren\'t any tectonic plates??!!

I realize you could pile dirt to make a hill, but what about mountains??

shh. don\'t ask questions like that. those are questions that shake the very nature of reality.

but here are two answers:

1. the will of talad <- or what ever deity you want.

2. mountains are the accumulated castings piles of the rare rock worm. these creatures bore tunnels through sediment and rock. the crushed material is processed with a broad spectrum of enzymes and acids. the digested rock is stored and later deposited in specific locations. the rock worms appear to have some social aspects but are predomiately solitary. in addition they appear to have simialr origins to the kran. but this has yet to be determined because no live rock worms have been located to date. (most of this i pulled from the ringworld novels. atleast in concept)

Yes there is, your question brings to light the question.l Is it possible to go up a hill and go down a mountain (yes I know that if the hight changed to fast I would go through the hill but anyway)

eh, no. He said no conventional muontains due to upper reason.

It\'s a karst cave, remember, so most mountains will be stalagmite and other cave formations.
