Title: What have you named your PC?

My computer\'s name is Jane. I named it after Jane from Speaker For the Dead of the Ender Quartet by Orson Scott Card.
If you think I have no life, well you are absolutly correct!

Server in living room - Xerxes
Room-mates computer - Shodan
bf\'s powerbook (cos it\'s shiney and pretty ;) ) - Andromeda (Ascendand)
My machine in Linux was named after the Russian counterpart to SkyNet which I seem to be unable to remember and even find any reference to online :P
My machine in Windows was called SkyNet

Later, though, I moved out and my machine changed name ;) Now it\'s called Sol (i.e. the Sun)
The physical drives on my machine are named
Earth (contains music)
Moon (a dry, irratiated wasteland where nothing productive will grow, i.e. my Windows system drive ;) )
Jupiter (large and bloated, my biggest drive, which contains movies ;) )

This of course also means that my \'new\' iBook will be named Proxima (as in the star) and since that only has one drive and we know not wether there are planets at Proxima or not, yet anyway, I\'m safe there ;)

That was a bit long-winded, sorry ;) But there you have it, you asked for it ;)

The Domain is called : UTGA ( called after my company name i have )

My Internet Server is called : Iterici ( the first nickname i had )
My Domain controller is called : Sirvice
( after service but then scrambled)
The server in my room is called : Dorbian-Server 2 (The second server i bought, it deserves a grant name )
My Workstation is called : Dorbian ( best possible name, my own nickname )
My laptop is called : Magnama ( one of my other nicknames )
My other laptop is called : Iferniton ( again one of my other nicknames )
My mothers MAC ( grose ) is called : Marijke ( her name )
And my dads MAC ( grose some more ) is called : Henk ( also his name )

( i\'m goin to ban them from my network :P )

Then we have the wireless network
The Wireless acces point is called : Dincor ( dunno how i came up with this )

and well the computers connected to that thing well they aren\'t really mine, the others are ( in a weird unussual way :P )

It had a Voodoo card that has been replaced. (.VD-r)

I record my computers history in their names. I don\'t know why, I just do. :? Odd when I think about it.

my iBook is icy I suppose... I had another name but can\'t remember it. I have an ancient dell server my school gave me named the five-hundred pound gorilla... it\'s huge, I can\'t even lift it. and I have an ancient PowerBook (before the advent of powerPC processors) named applecyder. and a commodore 64 affectionately dubbed \"Commode\" ;)

If you\'ve got a family computer in your household, it isn\'t a computer anyone, it\'s a battleground in the war against adware, pork-barrel space usage, and malicious programs (viruses and the like).

I have a family comp with a 27GB HD, I rarely use it because of the trouble I get from it. (Dell w/ XP, makes it worse) In contrast, the comp I call my own has a 5.6GB HD. I have to run a very tight ship, but it\'s always clean.

Everyone who has a computer on a network names it something. Simply because remembering it\'s http://gandalf/ is so much easier than http://172.16.0.1/ :)

My main computer is called Gandalf.
My X-terminal is called Aragorn.
The little tough HP9000 machine I used to have was called Gimli until I sold the I/O board, rendering the machine useless.
My Commodore 64 isn\'t on the network, and so doesn\'t have a name.

I know, I don\'t have the creativity to come up with a good name on my own :(
