Title: Music Shortage
Post by: Joeyguy on August 31, 2004, 03:33:03 am
I don\'t know why I\'m asking you people. You have proven again and again that most have you have no taste in music.

But I recently reformated my computer. I backed up all my songs on CD, but then I\'d have to go find the CDs.

I will download every posted song in this thread. Go.

Well, what do you like?  My recommendations are all rock-types, so if you don\'t like that skip over mine (none of the \"classic\" bands though)

If indie rock type things, try some Say Anything songs from the cd Is a Real Boy...it\'s been in my stereo for a long, long time. Try any of the songs at http://www.purevolume.com/sayanything their all pretty different fron the other one, so I don\'t really have a favorite of those.

Pop rock, Jimmy Eat World - Pain

Dance rock, Head Automatica - The Razor

alt rock, Letter Kills - Don\'t Believe

While not really my favorites, I tried to make it diverse so if you don\'t like one you might like one of the others...if you don\'t like any of those, your way too picky. :)

EDIT:  If you like any of those, I can recommend others like them, if not, then eh.  :O

I\'ll take anything. I\'m really desperate. You know what I\'ve been listening to?

My sister\'s music. That\'s right, Sex Pistols and Buffy the Vampire Slayer soundtrack (there was a musical episode, for the Buffy illiterate).

Just post what you like, and there\'s a good chance that I\'ll like it.

I\'ve explained this several times before. Screw what I like. Post what you like, and there\'s a good chance I will too.

Also, adding a new mission to this thread: What\'s that song from Lola Runne? I remember the song, but I can\'t recall the name. It\'s the one that they play when Lola is running down the stairs. You know, the one that goes \"I don\'t believe in something because something something something\"?

Im sorry to say this but LP is truly one of the most wimpy bands in history.  As far as Im concerned, their a pathetic excuse for rock.  The singer is the biggest sissy in the world.  He sounds like hes crying when he sings and he sounds like a girl.  Im sorry but I hate LP with passion and I had to speak up.

And do a search for Sam Roberts and download everything you find.  :)  (This isn\'t punk rock.)

EDIT:  Is it just me, or is my sig not working?

Entamis:  Ok, thanks..  it\'s not displaying properly for me.  Whatever, just as long as you can see it.  :)

Oh, and I almost forgot to recommend Five Hours.  They\'re an Indie Punk band that have a lot of their songs free to download on the web, but I don\'t know how many of their songs will be on P2P networks.

Some of their songs are:
Dark Stars
Alien Storm
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Insecurities

EDIT:  You can get some of their songs on download.com, just search for Five Hours in the music section.

Pop/punk? Is that another word for \"punk\'s failure to be revived by money-grubbing record companies and talentless children\"? No, thank you.

Of course, I\'m downloading it anyway, the songs being posted in the thread and all.

Also, try not to overload me with huge posts filled with every song on your computer. Remember, I\'m having a very hard time getting around to them all. Just post a few of your favorites.

How about some real punk? Get your ass on P2P and download Anarchy in the UK, by the Sex Pistols. That\'s punk.
Title:
Post by: Half_Pint on September 01, 2004, 06:21:40 pm
I already have lots of Sex Pistols songs.  They rock!   8) The Ramones are awesome, too.  :)

But I also like some of the newer \"punk\" that isn\'t really all that punk.  ie. pop/punk

Meh all is good, don\'t let anyone tell you whats good and whats crap! Everyone doesn\'t like the same kind of music, and what one person may love with a passion..another can think is total garbage!

With that said Linkin Park is a gooder
Green Day - American Idiot (Just heard it and it was great)
Title:

Depth I have no prob with you saying Metallica are sellouts. Infact, I agree. I dont listen to their newer music.

The Clash- Rock the Casbah
Falco- Rock me Amadeus

After this post, a download is not guarenteed. Why? I can\'t keep up. There\'s an enourmous amount of songs in here. Many of them are almost impossible to get off of P2P, so I\'ve had to search.

But what has been posted, I\'m going to download every one. And all you people who thought I am capable of downloading the upwards of 20 songs you packed into one post... screw you. I\'m downloading them all anyway, but seriously. How much do you expect of me?
Title:

What P2P program do you use?
Kazaa sucks now that everyone is scared to use it.
Try Bearshare (the free one)

I recommend DC++ which can be obtained through sourceforge or get winmx

ok this may sound stupid but why is everyone afraid to use kazaa? I\'m not one for keeping up on stuff like that..  Ooo and anything by Bush, Cold, Blindside, Taproot is not to shabby, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Incubus, and some of Dave Matthews Band, is good listening.
Title:

Well kazaa being filled with viruses and stuff like that is good reason why people don\'t like it... and it sure is lousy for music download...
DC++ is the best when it comes to download of music...
Title:
Post by: DepthBlade on September 02, 2004, 10:26:14 pm
There is another option and it is called WinMX it is really slow and takes alot of time to search for things but the one thumbs up for it is that it doesn\'t have SpyWare like the rest ^^
Title:
Post by: Armenelos on September 02, 2004, 10:36:11 pm
So where can I get DC++ and do I need anything special to use it and is it free or will I end up paying for it? so on and so on? Any useful information would be nice.

- free

I find that my local library can feed my music needs quite nicely =)
No problem with viruses there though there\'s a slight chance in the winter :P
Otherwise finding a good netradiostation that has some decent taste in music (after your oppinion) can be gold

@Armenelos It\'s free though you are required to share atleast a couple of gig\'s of data before you can get into most of the hubs (The better ones usually require +20gig)...
Though I haven\'t used it for nearly a year - since the local \"anti-pirate\" group started busting ppl\'s kneecaps for using DC++ (not literally) - Their internetsite: http://dcplusplus.com/

Favorite music: (It\'s odd - Now your warned!)
Billy Joel
Radiohead -  (Pablo Honey + Hail to the thief)
Travis - (12 memories)
Kim Larsen (You wouldn\'t know him - and don\'t bother downloading it)
Stereophonics - J.E.E.P.
Phoenix
Hooverphonic
Massive Attack
N.E.R.D.
Michael Jackson
Joe Cocker - Hot town summer in the city (You know where this is from)
Thomas Dybdahl (quiet),
REM - (Their new album actually sounds worth listening to opposed to the crap they send out the last 2 times)
All the Disney theme songs :D
The Chemical Brothers (Have you seen \"Get yourself high\"),
And not to forget some Cake, George Clinton and what would my list be without Peaches =)
A band like the Beatles does not need to be mentioned..

depends
the best music one I\'ve seen requires +15gig

But when there was no way to find some song on Kazaa, hub that required 3gig was giving me long list of people who shared that song, so... :P

The key is to put genre of music in the public hubs filter ;)
