I believe that monsters shouldn\'t carry any money. Usually when monsters drop money its usually too easy to get money. Money should be something that is hard to come by. Only certain monsters should carry money like NPC thiefs, rogues, or anything that can be physically seen to allow the NPC monster to have money.

Agreed.
Seems really weird to have a wolf dropping money (*cof*lineage*cof*).
-
Perhaps you could have other animals droping money.
for instance, if you kill a wolf and serch its corpse (open up its innards) you might find some small items from its last victim that it swallowed by acident.
You should only be able to do that with a special skill

Lmao :P
If anything it would only be reasonable if you could harvest skin/pelt, fangs, limbs (and eyeballs, horns etc.)
This in turn could be traded to money
The quality of this could depend on some hunting skill or something.. (Yeah I know I\'ve got the idea from RoE but it\'s not a bad one either)
-
The hunting skill from RoE isn\'t a bad idea. I like it.
It is rather unrealistic for wolves to drop money, or different items, since they have no way of carrying them. Furthermore, its also unrealistic that you get a wolf hide after you kill the wolf without skinning it first. In all the games I\'ve played, all you have to do is kill it before you get the hide, in PS, you should have the option of skinning it for the hide, which would take some time. Could be based on that hunting skill as well.
-
Well ok compare that to a character being able to hold bunch of different weapons and items, a ridiculous ammount and not being able to see the character holding a backpak or anything ^^ must store it in his stomach :P
-
What I actualy said was
some small items
Is it that inconseivable to find items inside an animal?
The animal might have eaten some (one or two) Tria which might not dissolve.

I think that the idea would be great if it was set up to be a random event (rare) - where you by mere luck find eg. a hexa in the stomach of some dimwitted creature... (Does CB include a luck system?)
-
Yes it does... I think
-
Yes, he could have swalloed it, interesting since only a few monsters would have the money with them. And it should only be obtained if the player opened the monsters belly or something like that. Makes more sense than monsters dropping gold and all...

Perception: The skill by which one is able to find things, creatures or persons that are hidden. Also used in the process of searching corpses for usefull items.
Use: search (searches area) / search {creature} (searches the corpse of a creature for useful or interesting items.)
Skinning: The skill by which a person os able to remove the skinn of a dead creature. Useful for Tanners and Hunters.
Use: Skinn {creature}
Note: Skinning may never be more than the hunting skill.
Thats from the manual for a game I played years ago. It was really agrivating at times, being unable to skinn the creature that you had just killed, or skinning it so poorly that you could not even get one Lir for it -a Lir was the smallest change. However it added a level of realism that is missing from most games today. I have never seen the skinning skill implemented in a game with a GUI. I suppose there are not many developers that think of the skill and are reasonably willing to do animation for it. I don\'t see any reason to animate the process. Though the carcass would have to vanish after you skinned it to keep from showing the bloody remains of a lion or wolf to the world.
Sometimes you skinned things that you thought would not be possible, but you simply were removing the useful bits from it, like the eye of a Scarab or the poison glands of a Snake.
I placed the Perception skill in there because you were talking about finding money in animals. While it is unlikly that most wolves, bears, beavers or pigs would have ingested such an item, it is not unlikly that an owl, hawk, or fish would. The latter creatures are known for having such objects inside them when killed. I have found money in a fish and a shiney metal object (of unknown origin) inside of an owl that I hit with my car -it was not a peice of the car, i checked thourally.
:D

I think money should be easyer to come by than MB but not that easy. I think you should be able to sell hides, furs, bones, ect. to npcs for money. I dont thing they should drop weapons eighther. Weps should be bought at a store or found in a tresure chest (those would be rares)

Some creatures are known to collect shiny things like gold, silver, but they can?t/don?t carry it on them. Maybe you could have certain animals also spawn with a nest that has something ?shiny? in it, but the catch is they have to find the nest as well (maybe the critter is guarding it).
