Title: 3D) Monster - Ooze:
Post by: Zeraph on September 20, 2004, 12:49:40 am
I modeled this today, it is sort of a large jelly thing, but I don\'t think it tastes like Jello:

It is a very simple model, basically a GeoSphere with Bones (so I can export it to Cal3D)
I made some animations in this Flash movie:
http://www.geocities.com/zeraphsimagehost/SwF/?Ooze.swf

unfortunately, the animations do not exactly look like that when I export to Cal3D, but still pretty close export for the \"Die\" animation I am still working on this one.

I can\'t seam to get the texture to work in the Cal3D Demo, but I can\'t get the texture of the \"Dummy\" from CB source code art to show up ether so I think I\'m ok.

I am going to work on the texture some more... I was thinking I could make a \"Lava\" one & a \"Water\" skin. & maybe a \"Ghost\" skin too...

Anyway, here is a Release of Animations in 3DsMax4 .max format. (Will work with later versions of Max as-well: )

I think that acidic ooze would be good choise for PS even it is a cliche.

Ooze can use its acid to get minerals from the ground.
It is very basic but effective.

you would make ether a .png or .tga image something white & probably 60% transparency, Alpha Map...
:D I think it is suported...

It is supported.  The devs told me to use it to make a better looking (and 4 tri) feather.  Though, I\'m not sure if that made it easier on the renderer, just looks better.

Also, EQ (EverQuest) has a very similar set of creatures so I see nothing odd in the idea of a slime creature.  Another game that has a similar creature is Dragon Warrior...well...never mind on that one :P

Looks great!

I think I may not finish this one because it doesn\'t exactly look right in Cal3D, the bones do not share the verts very well so it looks like 5 lumps on the top were the bones are when it scrunches, I think however I can do a pretty good Jellyfish, however it is not needed right now because there are no underwater maps...

This one was loosly based on a monster called \"slime\" & flubber :D.
