Title: Chat!
Post by: Helth on September 23, 2004, 03:10:03 pm
Hey? Why is never anyone in the IRC?
I know, that you also can chat in PS, but isn\'t it a better chat in irc?

Which IRC channel are you going to?

There\'s a few choices...

Public developer channel: irc.freenode.com #planeshift
Unofficial fan channel: irc.quakenet.org #planeshift
Planeshift-guilds: irc.quakenet.org #planeshift-guilds

Those are the most popular, but there are plenty of others (usually guild specific).

What is your operating system and irc client? Maybe you are behind a router. There are a lot of irc tutorials out there to find with google, e.g. here (http://www.newircusers.com/) or at the mirc homepage (http://www.mirc.com). (can\'t help with mirc, using xchat under linux)

Hope that helps.

You don\'t have to pay even after the 30 days...

Use Linux by the way, you get free programs for every job  :) .

So how many times does your computer crash per day? :P (Macs all the way!)

As to finding an IRC client, head over to versiontracker.com and search for \"IRC\". I\'m sure you\'ll find one or two free clients.

I use HydraIRC, it\'s some what buggy sometimes, but it works really great!

It\'s a multi server/multi channel and supports the normal things and stuff like that.
And it\'s free

Then you have XChat, a small IRC client with normal features

Use google to find \'em

I also use hydraIRC, but it doesn\'t connect to one of the networks I use alot (connects fine to quakenet and freenode) and doesn\'t work under linux natively so I also use xchat.

mirc is the best for newbies to IRC i believe since it can accept irc:// links (hydra can too...) and its a lot simpler

You wouldn\'t know a good place to find scripts for this beauty?
