Title: What kind of car do you drive?
Post by: Kuiper7986 on October 02, 2004, 03:59:39 am
Actually I\'m kinda curious to what types of cars you people drive. Curious because a lot of people here are from Europe and I just wonder what kind of cars you drive since gas prices are high in Europe.

I drive a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant DE

I don\'t have a car, nor do I ever want one... but if I did, it would be an Audi A8 :P I like big chunky looking cars, and lots of raw power.

Mogura how come you don\'t want one? Is it that expensive in Europe? Or do you just simply never needed one. Wow your either lucky or really really smart. You don\'t gotta pay for car insurance, gas, maintenance and all that good stuff.

Actually I\'m kinda curious what kind of cars (if they do) the Devs drive...

I do not have a car. In fact, I do not even know how to drive. My friends take me everywhere that excedes walking distance. :D

I guess that, yes, in a way, it is the smartest choice. And the \"He did it, ociffer!\" is always the best answer. :]

I bike wherever I need to go. It\'s great exercise. I bike about 5 km (~3 mi) each day. Great for staying in shape, friendly to the environment and it costs close to nothing. :D

Depthblade: yeah my car isn\'t paid off yet, your lucky.

Valfaran: that\'s nice, Camino cars were nice and sturdy.

Golbez: You should get a license regardless of owning a car or not. But yeah having your friends having to do all the driving is nice and relaxing, you just enjoy the view while they drive heh.

Icebr4ker: Yeah biking is cool, I used to have a bike it, got old though. Yeah I should do more exercise, of course biking up a hill or mountain can be a tiring, especially in my area.

[EDIT Added]: Aendar: Yeah the bigger cars, they got lots of muscle power and are nice for off-roading.

I can\'t afford to drive anymore :( Blasted tuition and all.

Anyway, last car I drove was a wood panel station wagon :D 1982 Ford Grand Marquis.  It was a good car, really nice ride :)

Yeah tuition is more important but  that last car you had, \"the oldies are always goldies.\" I think I saw one of those before, pretty long car literally.

Well I am either going to trick out my jetta or sell it and buy a new ford ranger fully loaded because they are nice. Possible thinking of buying S.U.V of some kind. As for those who choose not to drive because they don\'t believe in it heh good for your morals...but if you try and call us gas wasters heh do it all you want I can really care less because its my money and if the gas is there to use..I am going to use it!

I got a Toyota Yaris 1.3 (Sol Edition).
I bought it together with my father since i am still living at home and would hardly be able to support a car by myself (poor-rich student ;)).

It uses like 5.5-6.5 liters/100km.
1 liter costs ? 1.015 ($ 1.26012) here in Austria (and Austria seems one of the cheaper countries in europe as for fuel).

Yah, it\'s basically just the cost, and the worry of vandals, getting MOTs, where to put it... -.- etc. Sure it\'s a great for convinience, but I wouldn\'t wanna own one. I\'ve even had 10 one-hour lessons on driving, but as soon as they ended I vowed to never touch a steering wheel again. I just hated the experience so much.

Unfortunately i havent been able to afford one yet. After college, 4 years from now, i think ill buy one, if i manage to save some of my loan.
Either a old Volvo 164 cheap, and put money on restoring it. Or a rather new car, one with some HP\'s... Heh, maybe an Volvo S 60, since im such a Volvo-person...

But whenever i get the chance i use my mom and dad\'s Volvo 850 GLT.

Well I\'ll be 16 in may and my parants want me to work so I learn to be \"responsable\" but I\'m going to need a car to work.  So, my parants will pay the down payment on any car of my choice but it will be my responsability to pay it off. My choice is a 1997 toyota supra. Its fast, really good looking, and great to fix up. But I guess you guys aren\'t into the whole import car thing.

Well I can\'t start to drive untill I\'m 17, whicn is in a few months :D My parents will supply the Car, I\'ll have to cough up the insurance somehow. :)

As for a future car... well, something extremely expensive it\'ll probably end up being :D

From my experience (and from my parents) toyotas are really good cars. So this should be a good choice. You can probably drive it till its 12-14 years old without repairing bigger parts.

We also had a Nissan - from my point of view its not as good as a toyota but still top quality (we bought a used nissan and drove it 10 years till it was 12 years old - then we sold it and bought the Toyota Yaris).

1992 Pathfinder

I\'m too tall for most cars.

Hah.

Though I don\'t care much about the vehicle...my stereo system in there kicks ass, I spent so much damn money on that which should have gone to buying/fixing up the car itself. :D

I can see why people don\'t want cars, but I constantly drive back and forth from home/work, no way would I survive without being able to drive...though I make my friends drive on any trips. ;)

for a start dont by a renault unless you like making 9 visits to your dealership every month...

Acraig, I think you should get a Mitsubishi preferably  a Mitsubishi Galant. It\'s easy to drive and it has the power. If your a little low on cash you can try the Mitsubishi Lancer or Mitsubishi Mirage.

The Galant isn\'t that expensive and its a reliable car. You can get the Galant DE like me or if you prefer the Galant ES. I got my  \'01 Galant DE for like $16,000. It hasn\'t failed me once yet.

Ugh Galants are oil burners (at least the ones I have had experience with), Efflixi get an imported Supra from NZ it would cost about $15000US including conversion though (best guess I can offer).

Acraig I (along with everyone else) would need to know what type of car you are looking for and other details (price range etc...)

Oh and nice taste in cars Aendar those have to be some of my favourite new cars.  My ultimate car would have to be a Lamborghini Muira (http://www.europeancarweb.com/retrospective/0310ec_1972miura/)  though.

Supra\'s are a bit over-rated, but then again maybe that cause I have a friend with one, single-turbo coversion thats is soon going to have about 600hp, and the owner happens to be a 16 year old girl whos boyfriend drives it more than her. :)

As for me I have a 1990 Nissan 240sx, and for those that know what drifting is, yes, I do.

I\'ve got myself a 1987 Nissan Sentra.  It\'s very fast and powerful.  And not old.  Yeah.

Nah, it gets me where I\'m going, but I\'m not a \"car\" person.  Right now I need to have it looked at, since the throttle has this nasty habit of sticking open in the \"full\" position once opened that far.

Only problems with Mitsubishi\'s is the insane level of recalls on their cars that they have.  I only own one because its fast :P .  Stick with foreign cars though definately unless you are looking into trucks.  By foreign I mean Japanese, European cars aren\'t all that reliable, however Lotus does make some sexy cars (Neighbor has an Elise).

Right now I have a 1991 Mazda MX6 LX which I\'ve rebuilt from the ground up. Engine rebuild, brake rebuild, suspension... you name it, I\'ve done it (err except body work I guess because that\'s too expensive for me). It has about 175k miles on it right now, and not a speck of rice. Whenever I save up enough money and find some room I want to buy a beat up 68 Mustang Fastback and that\'ll be my spare time/money project for the following few years.

You do know of course that the Veyron is ugly (only my opinion of course), it wont be able to turn and oh it will never go into production.  I am saying that last sentance because the likelyhood of any car like the Veyron being produced and/or being any good is highly unlikely especially from a company with the track record of Bugatti.

Also people think Supra\'s are really good *coughricerscough* but the car which I want to buy at the moment would cook even the best supra, that is of course straight out of the box.  Now you can go and guess what the car is (here are some clues though its British though quite a few people think it is American, the only thing to my knowledge that is American is the 428? 7-litre Ford engine; its old 1960s, and can travel at 289kmh stock).

-Zorium

P.S. Only a few seconds of research should help you find the car I want.

P.P.S. Just because I want to buy it doesn\'t mean I can afford it :P

You can\'t go wrong with a Honda.  They last forever, they can take insane mileages, they\'re very reliable, they\'re cheap, and they save on gas (environmentally responsible, for a car, at least).  They\'re manufactured in Ohio, too!  :)

As are Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Pagani, Pininfarina and De Tomaso (Elvis Presley shot his when it wouldn\'t start :P).

But seriously most (not all) Italian cars are very good except if you want good build quality (if you want that go buy a German or Japanese car), notable exceptions to this are almost everything new buy Alfa Romeo and the Fiat Multipla (there are others but it would take too long to write).

although not the lame AMG 55 but rather the AMG 72, because 476hp just aren\'t enough. :]
I\'m not sure if the latter is built, even on demand. I once got to drive a \"test version\" of the AMG 55 two years ago at DCX Untert?rkheim. This car is dangerous. I mean it.
