Hey I was wondering if you guys have seen that movie thing called \"super size me.\" Its about a guy who went on a mac donalds only diet for 30 days. Its a true story and its very good. It was originally a small independent film but it got pretty big. I saw it at blockbuster and rented it today so Im guessing one around your place might have it too. The guy who did this ends up gaining 25 lbs, his cholesteral goes up 65 pts, his liver almost fails, his chance of heart deseise doubles, his body fat % goes up 7%, he gets mood swings and more. Its really intresting to watch and see what fast food can do to a person. It gives really sad facts on us Americans and how....fat we are
*looks at six pack (well not me) :)*
Its one of the best \"movies\" I have seen you should check it out.
I was wondering how often you guys eat out during a week. I usually go out once a week with my friends and somtimes if my dad is only home we\'ll both go to In-n-out or somthing. so for me, 1-2 times a week. I dont drink much soda because I dont like it and I have like a candy item a day. I also run a mile every tuesday and thursdaty (thanks to school :P). I play a lot of baskest ball and I go swimming a lot too. I used to work out at a gym but I stopped when summer started and never started again. The strange thing is, I keep losing weight when I try to gain it :P. I have gained 5 pound after 4 months =/
So, how often do you eat out and how much do you work out?
My info summed up:
Eat out 1-2 times a week
Have at least an hour of activity a day
5\'8\" and weigh 131

I\'d also recommend reading \"Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal\" by Eric Schlosser :)

Aaah, we have a Californian in the house. :P I love In-n-out (though I\'m not from California really). I don\'t think their food quite qualifies as your average fast-food chain. After all, they use fresh meat & lettuce, and their french fries are made from potatoes which they slice in front of you. Yeah, I wouldn\'t eat it for a month straight either (...or would I?), but it\'s a world better than Micky D\'s. I even have an In-n-out sticker on my skateboard. Woah, way off topic.

They feature the author of that book in an extra section of the dvd. I might just read that book.
Yah In-N-Out is great! I feel sorry for people who have naver had it :(
Just for you 411: In-N-Out is a fast food chain but is only in california to keep quality up or somthing.

I dont eat much fast food, maybe once every second week. I rather eat some good homecooked, often delicious if mum dosent decide to put some vegetables in it or so. :D
Maybe i need to gain some weight, but not fat-weight, so its taking time cause im rather lazy. In the military i gained some, but lost it again when it was over.
So my info summed up::)
Eat out once every second week.
Some random activity every day.
6 feet 9,5 inces and weigh 167 lbs

Holy Moly! You\'re 6\'9\"! Hmm seems true that americans eat out more than europeans

I must confess to not having seen the movie yet so probably am in no position to comment, but I don?t really get it to be honest. I mean, the guy ate nothing but burgers for a month, ended up putting on weight and endangering his health?.What? We?re supposed to be surprised and horrified by that?! I?m sure everyone knows that this type of food is never meant to be a sustainable lifestyle, and not having a balanced, varied diet can lead to all sorts of problems. If you?re going to eat that kind of thing day in day out, regardless of the company behind it, you will put on weight and start to develop health problems. And as for cases of people not taking responsibility for their own lives and suing fast food companies because ?they made them fat?, don?t get me started
Don?t get me wrong, I?m no fan of Macdonalds and others of their ilk, but people should start taking some responsibility for their own actions. Then again I maybe I?ve totally missed the point ;)

I see where you coming from and you are right. But watch the movie you will understand what he was trying to prove.. Ok ok, let me put it into few words. Basically Mcdonalds was sued quite a lot sometime ago and in their defense they asked if anyone can prove that eating our food for a month without any other food will endanger their life then they have a good case. So this guy did exactly that.
ps I watched the movie :D it\'s funny as hell

You do not need McDonald\'s, Burger King, Wendy\'s, et cetera...
If you need food without the restaurant wait, go to Chipotle or Panera Bread. (Or equivalent, of course.)
Medium food owns! :D
Wohoo, Chipotle! :P
-
Hmmm... I go out for food once a month if I\'m lucky and I hate McDonalds. I probably don\'t eat out much cause I\'m canadian. woot!
Here\'s some of my philosophy: Thy shall gain weight if thy eat at McDonalds or other \'fast-food\' facilities. Fast food, though good for a treat, is not healthy for thou, and cannot and shall not replace a hearty pot of mom\'s homade soup. :D
-
You want to know how to really stop eating out? Work at one of the restaurants. I\'ve worked at McDonalds for 4 months and I don\'t even want to look at the food now, I have trouble eating it, its so sick after making it and being the one to cook it. My fast food appetite is dwindling down to nonexistant...The only problem is you have to eat something when your there for hours.... So here\'s my thing.
Eat Out 3-4 times a week
Swim, Run/Walk, Gym at least 4 times a week for a minimum of 1 hour each
5\'9ish, 135 pounds

wow, i just saw that movie last night and i dont think ill be eating any fastfood for awhile.

I saw the movie as well and found it to be quite good.
Though I\'m not one of these ignorant Americans that never realized the food at McD was bad for you so it hasn\'t changed my view on it. I will still be eating McD 2-4 times a week.
Luckily I have a high metabolism.
5\'11, 140 lbs.
Never worked out a day in my life.
Haven\'t played any sports for 5 years.
-
I haven\'t seen the movie but it sounds interesting. Pretty much sums up Americans...but anywho
I don\'t work out or play sports. The closest thing I get to sports is going to Q-Zar like once a month...It\'s like laser tag kinda thing
6\'1, 130 lbs.
-
Actually I spend all day sitting @ my computer basically I\'m homescooled so I do not walk around much @ school, I\'m hungry all the time... & can eat 3 double-cheeseburgers & 2 McChickens in one sitting....
6\'1, 140lbs (my ideal weight is like 160 or something.)
I don\'t get to eat out much, however I definitely prefer Taco Bell to McD, imo the food tasted better & probably is more \"Healthful\" if you eat the right stuff. it depends...
(btw: food can\'t be \"Healthy\" unless it\'s still \"alive & well\".)
McD\'s is cheaper then Wendy\'s but Wendy\'s is a grease-ball burgers, if you have ever tried to stomach a triple cheese lol. That\'s why ppl do not sew Wendy\'s, that\'s for people that can afford $4+ per person, you can get a double cheeseburger for $1...
I saw the movie thing @ my local blockbuster...
-
Hmm, I need to look for this movie. Seems a bit interesting, although I thought everyone knew what fast-food was like. I don\'t eat out much though because I live in a small town with only two fast food places that get old quickly, and I don\'t want to drive far to get me a cheap hamburger. Anyways...
6\'4(about) and oh, around 160lbs. (I haven\'t weighed myself in a while)
Eat out once every week or two.
Work out every so often. (was more when I played sports)
-
6\'1, 140lbs (my ideal weight is like 160 or something.)
I would really wanna reach about 220-240 lbs to get some width, cause im really \"slender\" now. :) But if i dont start working out and eat more (not alive, but healthy food) ill continue to be a walking stick :D
One reason why i dont eat more fast food is the costs, i cant afford about 6 dollars (in swedish money) for a meal, not on my poor student pay. :) But i must say that the food at the school resturant is even more expensive, a small coke for almost 3$, and an old sandwish for about 4$.
After that movie Super Size Me, more ppl just had to try the same thing too. Tho here in sweden they dared not do it for a month. A boxer had a show on tv, and he ate Mc Donalds food for 3 weeks, and another guy, a journalist, only ate for a week. And guess what, same results :)
-
wow, just like to say something again, that movie disgusted me, i cant see how anyone would eat that poorly for 1 month straight !
yet again i watched it last night and this time i made my parents watch it with me.
its kind of given me a bit of motivation to increase the amount of distance i run.
I went from only 4-5 miles a day to now 7 !
bwahahaha !.....
anyways my parents wont be eating fast food for awhile either.
i only 105 =p

I eat out about 1 time a month, and I work out 2-6 every day because I am a rower. I am only 13,
*looks at not quite six pack :)
so my weight is only about 120lb but my split time is (100m 1:36 sec. split)for a 2k, about a 2:00, and a 6k, 2:15 (second best technique at the boathouse) I am homeschooled though, so I have time for my first love, computers.
sum =
work out 3 hours a day (running, rowing, erging (rowing machine) and misc. exercises and stretches, and about 10 mi. biking)
eat out about once or twice a month
5,8 (or 9 or 10?)
120lb
eat constantly ( never gain weight though, fast metabolism?)

It has to do with many factors. Genetics is one of them when talking about how our body gains weight or in what way it metabolizes food. But in your case I notice that you do a lot of cardiovascular and endurance exercise.
You won\'t really gain weight because those types of workouts use up tons of calories and only slightly increase muscle mass. On the other hand, if you eat constantly and weight train (with heavy weights and low reps), then you will more easily gain a few pounds every few weeks or so.
Btw, good stuff. At your age it\'s better to do endurance exercises than weight training. It\'s also good for your heart. Even if someone doesn\'t weigh a lot, being active is a lot better in the long term than being sedentary.
