Title: Magic grouped in pairs...
Post by: Lardhoc Aewheros on October 12, 2004, 09:41:32 pm
Isn\'t this boring.

Crystal and Dark are both linked to Charisma and is likely to be combined as improving Charisma will have double effect.

Red and Azure are both linked to Will and is likely to be combined because then improving Will will have \"double effect\".

Brown and Blue are both linked to Intelligence and is likely to be combined cause improving intelligence will have \"double effect.\"

So, we will have much more Crystal/Dark mages than for example Crystal/Red mages or Crystal/Brown mages.

It is strange that opposite elements are most likely to be combined. Don\'t you agree? Or do you think that opposites should attract each other? I have never seen a fire/water mage in any game or book.

However I think being opposites they are the same, think if them like crystal=1 & Dark = -1 they are both ones but -one is negative & one is positive, however this may confuse some ppl...

Well, I think that they are grouped that way because it makes people play a more verity of magic because if opposites were not grouped, there would be lots of the same mages like ones that only fallow charisma or only wisdom etc. it sort of negates the 6 different types & makes it only 3....

It also depends on how good they go together. For example a crystal/dark mage may be boosted by the shared charisma link, but there are only some and also dangerous crystal/dark spells. Resulting in him being a crsytal and a dark mage, but not crystal dark mage.
On the opposite a crystal/brown mage may have lots of spells which use cystal and brown way together, making him a true crystal/brown mage. The lack of a stat link is compensated by faster learning of both skills through the combination spells.

But since the spells are secret, it has to be seen.

I doubt there will be spells that combine two ways. It would indeed be great if that turns out to be the case, but as I said: I doubt it.
