I have seen a lot of great ideas for monster and stuff in wish list and fan art. They are 3D and look good. I was just wondering what program do you use for that kind of stuff.

There are a lot of talks about what programs are being used in the Fan Art forum. Go there and just read some of those posts about the 3D) stuff.

For 3d, I think just about everyone uses either wings 3d, blender, or 3ds max for modeling. 3ds max is the most high quality of the 3, but is also the only one you have to pay for (and is quite expensive). If you can figure out how to export out of Gmax that one would be good as well (it\'s tough, and pretty low quality as far as exporting goes). As far as 2d goes, I think just about everyone uses Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, or the GIMP. Photoshop is the best (arguably), the GIMP is almost as good and is free. If you don\'t want to buy any of this software I would highly recommend gimp. A google search on any of this will give you more info.
Now, learning how to use this software is a different story altogether. Use google and search for \" tutorials\".

how can i get my hands on the free/cheap 3D programs?
-
use blender, it is at blender3d.org, and it is just as good if not better than 3ds max (it is free : D) but it has a steep learning curve for most people, anyway\'s then gat the python script to export to .3ds and tada, free 3ds models

sweet thx man, but i\'d like to learn more bout the python script tho...

For starters, I would reccomend Wings 3D, it\'s interface is much easier to use than Blender, but It can\'t do as much. But to start with, use Wings, then when you feel you arfe ready to graduate, tyr and tackle Blender.
