Title: The Champions Are No More
Post by: colonel_vanderbal on October 24, 2004, 12:09:18 am: I regret to inform you all that the Champions of Yliakum are disbanding, disbite my best effort\'s to maintain the guild it has become increasingly more difficult, with a full time job and also attending college part time i only have a few hour\'s to devote to the guild a week.

This is simpley not enough the champion\'s deserve more and i can not deliver it. This is not permanent i asure you we will return maybe in the distant future when the first age of the champion\'s is little more than an urbun legend told by the player\'s of old of how a once great guild crumbled to ashes.

We shall return mark my word\'s and like a pheonix we shall arise greater and brighter than ever before.

I wish to thank all that have supported us and helped us in this fair world we belong to, We shall return when i have more time to devote to the guild after i have finished my degree\'s etc.

I shall still belong to this magnificent world just not as a champion as a freelancer or maybe a member of another guild who know\'s what tomorrow bring\'s.

Thank you all and i hope you await the champion\'s return as much as i do.

Everyone thinks a guild is so easy/effortless to run, like it is in other games. This is one aspect the does differ from some. A complex guild system, not just some \"group\".

Is it because it\'s harder to maintain a player base?
Or is the only difference they have a full game to play?

Most of the games I have played have these different clans who are just a group of friends who kill things together. In Planeshift, it is a group of friends roleplaying in similar ways, sharing roleplayed beliefs. To be successful, it requires alot of work and cooperation.

The politics in Planeshift are also probably the most complex I have ever seen in a game.

I assume you have trusty members, so why not giving the leadership to one of them? Why not forming a council to lead the guild in your departure? And of course, you can always come back ...
The choice is your, but think at others thoughts 1st too ...

I know of some EQ guilds that are so serious it is sadly pathetic.
As for the politics, can you please explain this?

I am with Altharion on this one, guilds come, guilds go... you\'ll live. This is not a Roleplay forum, thus Altharion is entitled to be OOC, like myself.
I end by saying I do not think a PS guild is different to any other guild (not a clan ala FPS).
The only noticable difference, is they, unlike we, have a full game to play, not a glorified chat room (with crystals)

As I said, I never played EQ, but from my own experience . Im not trying to sound like I know everything, I don\'t.

Uh, politics? What\'s not to understand, we have guild wars before we can even fight each other. Some say that thats stupid, but I say that it shows we can roleplay. Awesome.

Anyways, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, right?

And so Altharion can state his just as many of you stated your opinions when certain new guilds came along....so stop complaining.

And from what I know about Sangwa my guess would be that that was meant in a more joking way that anything Altharion.
