Since planeshift has no classes we can all make up our own ones. Here are a couple non-traditional classes I have thought of:
Mage Slayer:
A class dedicated to the destruction of all magic, or at least to the killing of mage enemies of his or her guild. Antimagic is of course very important, and then something to kill with. Melee Skills, Assasin Skills, Ranged Skills or maybe even offensive magic.
Spy:
Self explanatory. Very good stealth skills. A little bit of everything so that he can infiltrate mostly any guild or organisation. Tailor might be a good job since there might be need to change clothes very often to avoid being recognized. It would be very hard to enter a guild if this class became common. :) At least if the guild is mostly in-game without a homepage and so on.
Do you have any ideas of untraditional classes?
-
Beggar: Sits on the street being a bum and begging for money :D
-
Paladin:
Skilled in heavy armors as well as shield usage. Weapon choice depends on player. Other areas of interest are Endurance and Body Development. Player may also choose to have some skill in magic/healing.
-
Greenpea...er... Elf... druid... thing.
Lover and protector of nature, excelled in the brown way. :)
By the way, idea-threads belong in the Wish list.
-
Paladin, druid? Oh dear! I said non-traditional classes, everyone have seen paladins and druids in mmorpgs before. Be creative and take advantage of the possibility to create your own unique class with your own way of working to achieve your goals.
I really appreciate someone is trying to keep order in these forums, Gronomist, but this was not about ideas for the development of the game. It is not like I wish for anything of this as it already exists! This is about how we choose to play the game and do belong in the general discussion forum in lack of a better place.
Oh... and nice idea Xordan but I think it would be too boring.

And here we have a perfect example of bigotry. :] \"To further our goals of destroying all magic, we of course use magic!\" Just as with almost any other group. :P
-
Hehe just read that...
So in essence a MageSlayer would be out to destroy itself if it used Offensive Magic.
Hmmm not a class I would like to play :P

16 year old:
Whatever Seperot puts :D
*Hides from Moogie*
Okay, lets see
Evil Genius:
A highly magical character who sits back watching his minions doing all the work until the hero comes and finaly gets to the genius in which case there is a big duel in which the hero believes he wins even though the genius escapes and makes the building blow up. Alchemist.
Might as well add that I think I may become a magicaly enclined alchemist in the game....no reason...:D

Ninja (xD)
for endukai only
wearing only dark cloths and using deadly weapons like shurikens and short swords, ninjas are faster and stuff.
y\'know, that ninja stuff xD

First... Well, I\'m the moderator so that\'s my decision whether or not it belongs in the General Discussion forum. Second, the wish list isn\'t simply for wishes, it\'s for game idea discussions. If the ideas are for the final game, or simply ideas doesn\'t matter. This is where they belong.
As for the untraditional classes... There\'s no way you can say a druid is a very ordinary class and you\'ve seen it so often it makes you puke. I\'m sure you\'ve seen someone play a druid character, but not play as a druid. Get what I mean? :)

Beggar: Sits on the street being a bum and begging for money
Actually I was semi-considering being the town drunkard. Maybe he can be my alt.
Falconer
Trains falcons to aid in combat and to hunt small game. Knows some healing/nature magic, but has more skill in the use of ordinary weapons (sword, shield, etc).
Mage Falconer
Trains/summons falcons to aid in combat, and to enhance their magical powers. Can specialize in any of the ways of magic and has a different falcon/group of falcons that can be trained/summoned to use/enhance that way of magic. I know, there\'s a lot of slashes in there, sorry. This class could be generalized more to include more than just falcons, maybe a different animal/pet for each way, but I\'d choose which ever one has a falcon \'cause falcons rock. This is the direction I hope to take my character (though obviously I may have to settle for something other than a falcon).

Seytra, it scares me how often you and I think alike.
I was all set to point out the bigotry... read further and you did! I do have another point though.
Wizard Killer, is a set of the fighter class of AD&D...
Wizard Killer, Mage Slayer... dun dun dunnn.
Spies are very traditional.
I was thinking Braggart...
Sits around in taverns all day telling boastful (artificial) stories and getting others to buy them drinks for a story.
As far as I know it\'s original, and I\'d be really good at it, as I love to make up stupid things (such as this class).
Cat Cleaner:
Enki\'s best friend, \'nuff said.

I haven\'t seen it in many MMORPG:s. And to infiltrate guilds for a living is original to me. Have you seen it? Hey, you cannot even have seen it since the guild system for planeshift is uniqe. But I just thought of something. If you will continue to be able to see the names of people just by pointing at them with the mouse spies will be chanceless. Irritating, unrealistic feature! What will the meaning to introduce yourself be when your name is written on your forehead! That might be the reason I haven\'t seen much spies... The name betrays you.
Gronomist: Wishlists is in common tongue a list for wishes, but if you want the thread here it\'s fine with me. :)
Hehe, falconer sounds great, wonder if animal-trainer will be able to train birds of the gauntlet... (Allright, Gronomist! Even if I don\'t wish for things somebody else seem to. :) ).
Talking about druids I think that nature-magic is no new thing even if the name druid might not have been used very much.
And the mageslayer, this is going to be a long monologue. I didn\'t mean that a mageslayer who is dedicated to the destruction of magic would use magic, I meant the mageslayer who only had specialized in fighting wizards for the sake of his or her guild or as a sport.

Oh, it exists in another game! Is it less original because of that? It is not like it exists in almost every game like paladins and rogues for example.
There, now when I have defended my opinions you can continue to disagree with me. :)
-
Lardhoc Aewheros I think you may find that being used before is the very essence of unoriginality... It\'s quite logical.
As for what Lady Gronomist said, about palying as a druid, she meant in day-to-day tasks I believe...
Like, in D&D a druid is a being with magic related to nature, and an affinity to nature.
I think Gronomist means that instead of being any old adventurer, actually being a druid... Performing rituals and living in the wild, and all that, of course I could be wrong?
-
Dancer:
High speed, dual weapons of some kind, ligt armor with decorations. Entertaining people with beatifull dances on music. Perhaps with some magic to do extra ordinary moves, or to summon aiding objects.
-
Tactician: This class is of perfection an is open to all races with equal learning! Perfect your fighting techniques by making the kill faster an taking less hits in the process. Such things can be done with abit of foresight (able to slow down what you see by a few seconds an still being able to move at your normal speed.) Mastering this skill will not make you invincible by any means. Tacticians prove to be our realm\'s most skilled \"Duelers\".
-
you said there is no classes? If you do quick creation it has rouge, warrior, street fighter....other stuff....anyways...... wouldn\'t a spy basicly be a rouge?
-
Ugh, the word is ROGUE! R O G U E is it really that hard?
I see Rouge everywhere... Isn\'t rouge a cosmetic product?
Those are not classes, so much as automatic skill selection, and they mean nothing.
A rogue is generally (not always accurately) thought to be a thief...

What good is throwing grouped words together, you need to explain exactly what your class is... or there is no point. What is an evil soul?
A black knight was not evil, but usually legendary, only the most elite were entitled to the rank...
-
Some cool shiny knight class would be fun. Huh i rememberd they already had that :D Well then some really holy knight could be fun
-
A paranoid schizophrenic uber powerfull mage/wizard/druid/clown. The more you use your powers, the more you lose touch with \'reality\'. Imagin some poor sap spending hours trying to kill a tree he thinks is a giant!

Under the Moon, that\'s kind of cool, but would be so hard to play/code.
Hailthecrap, did you read ANY of this thread? Describe your classes, and it\'s called \"make up a class\" not tell us all the current RPG classes.
Not one of those is new.
This thread has gone to hell... the death realm, whatever... A horrible, dark place.
-
Yep, I wonder if it is due to me not making myself clear enough... Well I will stop to flame people for misunderstanding me, doesn\'t really serve my purpose.
-
Spy idea - Spies, while infiltrating enemy territory or whatever, should have a technique where the spy user sets a macro and then disguises themselves as an NPC. That way, when someone greets or hails (whatever you call it in this game) the spy, they deliver a response that may or may not trick the greeter. The spy\'s name could change color to the NPC name color, if they have it like that (in Everquest, light blue names meant NPC, dark blue was player, and then some other colors that are irrelevant to this).
So yeah. Agree with me.

What about a Bard?
Bard:
One who uses magic entwined with music for battle. Can use his magical melodies to aid him in battle.
-
What\'s about a Fire-Fist:
Martial Arts, Fire Magic (?Don\'t know much of the ways, when I joined the site was taken out of Player Guide?), Unarmored, acrobatic. Teacher (Has to give his knowlege to his adept) --> Some kind of samurai
