Title: GM client
Post by: ivar on October 31, 2004, 10:38:39 pm
How about adding a Game Master?
That is, a player that has no character but has powers over the game server. Such as adding monsters and NPC\'s on the fly, posesing existing NPC\'s, precreating an erea, etc.
Those powers should be limited in some way, so they will affect only one group of players.
What do you think?

Admins can do the sorts of things you listed there. GMs have ingame characters with powers to kick, mute, ban, etc. In Crystal Blue, there are many \'levels\' of GMs, where lower level GMs have few abilities and high level (highly trusted and loyal) GMs have near-admin powers.

Welcome to PS. :)

There is a difference between Game Masters and Game Moderators; at the lower levels of \"GM\" power are the moderators who play characters but with the abilities mentioned.

We will continue to add interfaces to the game which allow more \"game master\" abilities, if only to smooth the process of creating quests, items, npcs, etc.

Personally, I would like to see some \"possess monster or NPC\" abilities :D

I\'d like that, or for higher level GMs and admins to have their own unique models or skins. :)

Someone brought up an excellent point in another thread that unique character models just for GMs or admins would detract heavily from the rp atmosphere, as you would have to explain their limited existence. Skins, however, are a good idea.
