Hi, I would like some critique on a web template I am making for the art part of my website. I have not optimized the code yet, (it was made by hand and aprtly by quanta plus.) It is here, just follow the link

Kanda plain, but I guess that better than it being cluttered.
-
It isn\'t bad. Simple can be a good thing. I mean, just check out my new website layout (http://www.freepgs.com/s3curity/index.html). The only thing plainer than that is a text file :P
It could use some more color though. I\'m not a big fan of gray/black with blue links. It reminds me too much of the default windows shell.
-
what blue links? you must have your browser preferences set custom.
-
I am getting blue links also with underlines. Looks like the google_links tag thing you have is only working on one link on all of the pages. I would suggest instead of Javascript to do that using CSS. But that is just my opinion.
-
haha! Yeah, looks like someone is using mozilla to build their web pages and not IE. I get white links under mozilla, and blue ones under IE. Yeah, I would highly recommend going CSS. IE just messes too much stuff up.
-
thanks for the tips, I had been using konqueror, mozilla 1.2, and firefox 1 to test it so far, and I will use the css, but I wasn\'t using javascript, just html.
-
When I was viewing the source before I was getting some Javascript that doesn\'t seem to be there anymore, it looked like it was trying to set the background colors for your hover over link effects but I didn\'t look at it that much to tell you for sure.
Not seeing it now though when I look at the source.
Also, IMO when ever you are designing a webpage you should always always always try and view it in IE if possible. Unless you are on a Linux box or a MAC (Since I think Mac\'s version of IE is so picky it\'s not even funny). The reason is even if you don\'t use it still a large majority of the people who will be viewing your page probably do.
But overall not bad.
-
Not bad at all, I agree though, use CSS... it\'s my best friend when it comes to site design... gave me quite a few A+\'s back in highschool (ahh they were the days)...

If you are good at css, would you help me perhaps? I know html, but my css skills are at best nonexistent. Also, I am on a red hat linux 9 box.
-
1st of all - \"email me at: xXx@xXx.xXx\" . Delete your email address from there, a lot of crawlers will \"intercept\" it and you\'ll win some spams! :)
2nd, err ... Heya!
The template looks simple and \"cute\". But if you started working on greyscale, why using blue? ?(

http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp
go there... XHTML, CSS, JavaScript and a lot of others... basically all you need to know :) .. where I started learning my CSS

CSS is actually pretty easy to learn. Just look at a few tutorials and you will get the basics.
As far as doing this on a Linux box, do you have access to a Windows box? Only reason I am asking is so you can view what the pages will look like in IE.
And please someone don\'t start Linux is better and so is Mozilla but since a majority of people still use Internet Evil then you need to know what they are seeing. :P

Thanks for the replies, I am working on my css, and am fixing the email link right now. Also, I am not doing blue links, IE is messing up the site. I am redoing it though.
