Title: What areas are you going to be at the most
Post by: Kuiper7986 on November 01, 2004, 02:56:10 am
There are some players who just love to be around a busy city at night and enjoy the excitement, some players like being in dark caves to be alone, some like being near beaches to relax, some like being on hills near a vast plain, some like the diversity of a forest, some like to be on a high mountain to view the vastness of the world, there are some who like to be in a valley having mountains surround them while next to a lake. Where would you most likely find yourself being?

Me? Probably on some hill walking through the plains or grassfield field having a soft breeze blow on my face.

I\'ll probably be somewhere out in a forest, off the paths, enjoying and exploring the vast untouched land.

I know where I\'ll be at the most, but that darned NDA...

At least it will be a long way from Kuiper\'s growing mountain of \"pointless question\" threads :P (jk ;))

Mmm Dark caves sound nice but most likely be hopping roof tops in the night waiting to lay waste to Seperot I mean \"Evil\" >.>

This is not jsut for CB.
Anywhere there are lots of herbs and people that need healing...at least till I have a mental breakdown from seeing people in pain all the time, then...Right behind you!
Ja ha ha ha ja!

I intend to spend plenty of time in Hydlaa\'s best Taverns.

If you see me there I will buy you a beer :)

In an alchemy lab making potions in a big city, when I\'m not being attacked by fanatical extremist \'good guys\' with fetishes for \'smiting evil\' *cough*rebirth*cough*...

Hey I\'m too wandering arround searching for Xtalls, trying to explore Glitches,
and mostly being with my true love so she won\'t go behind a Mucho Man ;)

Hmm.  Forests and plains are my forte, though I\'ll probably be mining quite a bit, too.

City, defnitely!  Maybe some exotic location every now and then, but all the fun is in the cities usually, for me.

I\'d like to explore the forests as well, maybe we\'d run into each other Seytra?
In CB, I\'ll probably hang around Hydlaa, unless there is a really cool looking place somewhere, by moogie\'s cryptic comment, I\'d say there is... I plan on going -everywhere- at least once anyway.

Good thing that you said \"explore\" rather than \"exploit\".

That may happen. I wouldn\'t mind if it did. :)

I plan to at least go to all the less-explored areas, but \"Moogies Spot\" (it\'s got a name already :P) I will visit regardless of it\'s popularity. :)

Uh...there will be crystals, all kinds.  They just won\'t be useless. 8o

Oh, and Xordan, the addition to your signature makes it the greatest sig this board has seen.

And due to what might possibly be high traffic, I may have to move out of the alleyway behind Kada\'s.  ;(

Where ever there is rares and evil i will be there. Although hanging around town dancing in circles and bouncing up and down with my dwarf character is always fun to. :D

Most likely I will be away from \'crowded\' areas.  Preferably a forest adjacent to a large lake.

Well In the beginings of CB I will be traveling often trying to get familer with the land.  I will also be in citys trying to find good areas for trade ect. So I wil generally be seen everywhere.  Later on when I get used to evrything I will begin to go  to far lands and I will avoid citys as much as I can.  If items are needed I will pay a trusted person to fetch my goods for me.  I will often be found in dark areas due to my skin (lemur).  I will only be seen by those that I feel need to se me or when I am on a battlefeild.  So I wil generally just be a hard to find person. Perhaps even a thought to be dead person...

Now that\'s a refreshing thought, no? :P

I will probably be right in the middle of town being heard over everyone else, or back in a dark spot studying my magic or whatnot. I have a split personality, so it depends who \"I am\" at the time... :P

I will be perched on top the Highest place looking down upon whatever is below. then mount my Flying beast & take off on wings....

LoL, how optemistic :)
Dont you have any fate in the devs debugging work? ;)

I will explore it all and when the game come to that stage, advance in my own speed :)
And will always help others in need, aslong as thay are not some jackass...

Even after a long debug, it is almost impossible to make the game code perfect. I hope, that I won\'t get stuck in some... ...unwated places... (http://smaylik.by.ru/i/7.gif) But I expect and prepare myself to meet some bugs along with CB...

Yes ofcourse I know that, today ther is no perfect code.
Ther maby was back at ASM for what today is simple tasks.
But untill the programs make/debug/improve programs, it will never get perfect agin.

I believe in the opensource worlds advantage of actuly fixing buggs faster than the capitalistic companys dose. So I will not expect more buggs than in any other techpreview :)

I think this is a myth. I don\'t consider ASM to be some inherently superiour language that magicly makes any program written in it perfect. No, it is my impression that, regardless of the language you code in, you\'ll end up with the same percentage of bugs and non-optimised code if you take into account that you can more easily create more complex programs when using higher-level languages. Therefore, if you write a VI clone in ASM, I\'d actually expect way more bugs in it than if you code the same thing in C++.

Also, it is my impression that compilers have gotten reasonably good at optimising code, considering the myriad of different processor types and extensions out there even for the x86 platform. Maybe a coder who is extremely familiar with one architecture will be able to produce code that is more optimised for that platform, but I also think that the coding time will be way too big for any serious program to consider a pure ASM approach.

ASM still has it\'s merits, but as everything else, it\'s not some \"universal way to the light\", so to speak.

I however must acknowledge that I have only basic knowledge of and experience with ASM, so maybe I\'m wrong on this. OTOH, if I were completely off, ASM would be in greater use I think, so...

Anyway, back on-topic, I think that the /spawn command will be in CB as well to avoid this, at least in the early stages. It\'s still alpha, after all. Maybe you\'ll have to message a GM to /spawn you to avoid abuse.

It was not my intention to add to another fare OT.
And I think you have missunderstod me quite much.
I wrote that _maby_ a ASM aplication that did what today is considered a very simple task. Could be perfect code. (note MABY)

However you are right, to write a game or any aplication of todays standard would generate so much code that the human factor would add to MANY more bugs.

My point was only that as long as the human factor is involved, ther will never be a perfect code today.

I wonder what\'s Moogie\'s Spot is...?
Hmm, I\'ll also try and find water somewhere, cats and water together always make me laugh.
I\'ll drown Ty a few times, just to savour the effect of dying... Oh, and I\'ll frequent -every- cliff available, to throw myself from the peak.
I love fall damage! MB made me sad. The most amusing thing in Tomb Raider was swan diving onto concrete.
I plan on doing anything that can get me killed, monsters, duels, cliffs, water... you name it, I\'ll try it.

i guess i would be most likely found out side the citys (people give to much free rotten food to you when your a cabali)
o.0
iam gonna be a cleric and party with several victims and get them to fight really high lvl monsters, then \"fail\" to save their collective hineys form a bag of coded pwnage, ( heres the fun part) and when they pm me and whine about why i did\'nt heal them i\'ll just say 2 words \"Sorry, Lag\" .
0.o
man iam so bad, iam good :]

(edit- you might want to high light the blank space, it might save your life )

Cirdan why? What are you up to?
snow_RAVEN... remind me NEVER to journey with you okay?

Edit: Since you are a cabali that would never happen...
Not because you are evil, but because you are an extreme, I\'m neutral all the way.
Well... there are extenuating circumstances in which I would ally myself with Cabali. But I\'m not saying.
Title:
Post by: Waylander on November 11, 2004, 04:09:40 am
Adeli, I have decided to ally with the cabal and me and Xordan have come to the agreement that you and Snow_raven will forever travel together :D

Just jking.

Anyways, I will most probably be behind my desk or talking to guild leaders always trying to squeeze out a little more money from my \"clients\".

Otherwise I will be recruiting or just talking with guild members.

Most of the time I will be in the city but I may go to a forest by a lake to make a small kill...right Aendar? :D

Most likely in some vast dampy underground location, being an explorer of sorts. But a great (or less great city) sounds somewhat appealing as well, mayhaps throw a few thieves of the rooftops at night?!

Post by: fken on November 13, 2004, 12:30:44 pm
it depends on my feelings...

In DAOC I like to be sitting on a hill at night and chatting with other people (standing when a monster comes...)

But I like dungeons too and particulary the castle... (eh treecastle come here quickly!!!!!!!!!)

I dont really like forest onthose games because of the Moonstone forest... for the people who knows this very old game... some little monsters are hidden in the trees and wait after you... once your head is near enough to their tail... you\'re dead... before understand anything... so bad souvenirs... very bad...

I hope there will be something like \"addons\" not just bugs corrections but new map new monsters and npc... devs Im counting on you ! May the ps world be alive !!!!!!!!

@zetsumei : Personaly even if I criticize your act of cheating Im not your ennemy in real life and even in PS ;-)

i would spend most of my time exploring the whole world. Question:

Are there going to be more than one town?
Title:
Post by: Adeli on November 14, 2004, 02:09:13 am
Of course there will be. Can you imagine a world with only one town...
(Coruscant from Star Wars does not count, as it grew into one large city)
Hydlaa is not that big, so there will be more.
