Title: Got a connection problem...
Post by: Sea-Monkey on November 07, 2004, 09:18:04 am
i am very much a noob at this so i apologise if an answer to a similar question has already been given. (i searched real hard i just couldnt find one)

i have played Planshift 5 or 6 times without problems.  The last time however my character froze and after about 30 min i decided to log off and restart.  Now every time i try to connect my pc just restarts: no messages or anything; just shuts down and restarts.
i have run the updater, changed the compatibilty (i use XP) and i have all firewalls turned off.  I do not know what else i can try.

Have you tried creating a new character and logging in with that?

Your first character may be stuck in some sort of memory leak, which is common in and around the Plaza... there\'s not really much you can do to save him if this is the case.

If you create a new char and can log in fine, then the above is true. If not, do any other games cause your PC to reboot? Could this be an overheating problem?

I have had no problems with any other games or anything similar with any other programs.
I dont think it\'s a over heating problem since i\'ve shut everything down for over an hour just incase it might be and still the same thing happens.

I would have tried to create a new character if i could :) but it doesnt even load up that far; infact it just shows that little screen (that looks like the updater screen) and then the loading screen for about 1second before it starts to reboot.

Have you tried to unistall and reinstall the game?

No, i havn\'t tried to uninstall and re-install yet.
Would i be able re-create my same character/character name if i do that? Or is my character lost with that option? (Although it does seem my character is doomed anyway by most of my options)

Your character is stored in the databases not on your computer so wouldn\'t be an issue with losing that character if you tried that.
