I have made up a creature I think would be a good sub for horses! (I heard that there will not be horses so..)
Here it is!
I call it a Lerren. :D So, what do ya\' think?
EDIT: I will be adding more pics later.
-
Looks very good. :) It seems very fast and well suited for personal transportation but less suited for carying heavy goods. Like a cheaper ground alternative to pterosaurs.
How big is it? Is it as big as a regular horse? Will it be able to carry Ynnwns and Kran?
-
Looks good, but looks more like it would be the size of a medium dog and not really have the capacity to carry people.
I would think if it was meant to carry people or cargo then it would need to be larger in the shoulders and much larger in the chest area.
Just my opinion though :D
-
It is as big as a normal horse. And I think it would be used for its swifness rather than strength.
It could also have other breeds, like bigger stronger ones... And would be more sutable for carrying heavy loads. Hmm... I might draw some like that, with bigger shoulders and chest. Then it could carry Ynnwns and Kran, I\'m not too possitve a regular one could carry them.
I hope that answers your questions! And thanks for the comments.
-
That looks cool! I think they\'d make great steeds for scouts. A couple of lighter Enki\'s or maybe Lemurs on that, and you could have some real speed.
-
I agree Phinehas, maybe it is more for plains and forests than the cities. Maybe if a speed limit was implemented in the cities. :)
I think it would be more interesting if Ynnwns and Kran had to choose bigger steads of an entirely different specie, makes more variation. Or maybe they can find a particulary strong Lerren... But I don\'t know if Kran is much into riding, they look a little stiff.
-
It really might be the right riding animal for Lemurs. (note that it should be quite spectacular in colors to be used by them)
I\'ll probably send here drawing of a Lemur riding on a Lerren sometimes soon.
Great creature satha!
-
I don\'t think overly colorful, built more for speed than show it looks like to me. Besides, not all Lemurs are into attracting attention to themselves, I should know....
-
its very beautiful. :)) i would suggest it having be limitied to a specific race, like only elves, or Klyros, or both, thus adding to the massive gameplay experiance.
-
This is how i see my char, she is a Demorian... And she has a cat with her. :]
http://tinypic.com/kpaaf
Sorry, but I cant get the pic to show at the moment. I will see if I can get it to show later, but for now you will just have to use the link. (By the way her name is not kpaaf... it is Satha too)
-
Cool. She looks painfully thin, and very anime-ish, but other\'n that, not bad.
-
Haha, I have trouble drawing people that are not thin. Its just my style, I have to really try hard to get someone to look normal :P
And anime is my fave style of drawing so most of my people drawings are like that.
-
Hey, thin isn\'t bad. I\'m sure there are lotsa people who wish they were that thin. :D Anyway, as for the anime style. Well, I don\'t particularly like it, but that\'s just a personal preference and not a critique.

I think you should be able to choose wich animal to ride, regardless of race. Why wouldn\'t Diaboli be able to ride anything dermorians can ride? (Well okay, some animals might not like diaboli :) ) But riding some animals should require certain amounts of strength, endurance and agility. Thus races that have easier to develop required stats will be at an advantage, i.e. nolthrir have high agility, ynnwns have high endurance etc.

Mmhh, looks good. It somehow reminds me of a rabbit-dog Hybrid. It looks like it could jump over great distances. Maybe the three Tails are used for Balance. It also seems that it has the ability to navigate in absolute darkness with kinda of a sonar, like a bat. (Because of the big ears) It also reminds me a bit of a rat

I still say lemurs.
It doesn\'y mean others can\'t ride the creature, it just means that physically the most common race of riders is adapted for using the animal for riding. i.e. a Kran will probably crush the poor creature.
I believe riding on it requires the rider not to sit stiffly, but to twist with the animal movements, dwarves don\'t fit for that as far as I can see. (OK, I\'ll simply draw it so you\'ll see what I mean).
-
i think that with different breeds any species should be able to ride them. There could be a big breed that is so strong and sturdy even the biggest Kran would be able to ride it; the smaller races would not be able to ride these for example because they would be too strong to control (except for a big strong Kran). Then there could be a small breed that Dwarves could ride and only Dwarves because everyone else would be too big.
-
Hello! I have been kinda bissy so I havn\'t been able to get on for a while. But I have a pic to show you all.
http://tinypic.com/uwp6e (http://tinypic.com/uwp6e)
Its a family of Lerrens. :D
-
You should try to lessen the weight of the lines around where the legs join the body as they look like they arnt even attatched.
EDIT: I would love to see some coloured pictures of the Lerrens
-
If someone wants to colour them go ahead. I might fiddle with some colours later.
Oh by the way, here is something I drew a while back and desided to put it up here.

Lemurs are a little too dignified to ride something like that. Trust me, I know. :D
-
I needed practice, so, heres a really unprofessional looking coloring job.
-
Not bad. Was how as you go down the legs the colour gets darker intentianal? \'Cus it\'s not that bad, Kinda looks like it was running through mud or somthing.

Another picture! This one is just some Enkidukai with a cape. I got the idea from someone\'s char... They wanted someone to draw it for them, I cant remember who it was. This pic is not exactly what they wanted anyway, I just got inspired by the idea. :P
-
it looks cool but have you ever thought of giving it wings?
-
Giving the Lerren wings?.... No I had never thought of that....
EDIT: I might... maybe draw one like that to see how it would look like.
-
well it looks like it has an flying type tail so maby some wings like a griffin of somthing nice not evil.
-
Like angel wings? :P
-
ZellGa\'dess wants a Lerren!!
(Probably the only lemur that doesn?t mind a little dirt!)
No wings, it?s a land animal! Why does everything have to have wings??? Pphh
Some nice pics there Satha!
Personally i don?t think brown suits them....
Something lighter! and a different colour for the underbelly!
Keep up the good work!
-
Hehe, okay then no wings. And thanks.
-
well the only reason why i want it to have wings is because it is cute and i wouldent want to killit if i saw it on land. it would be a good pet to have as a familar.
-
****Announcement! All land will be deleted, and the rest of Planeshift will be occurring in the sky... underground sky of course!*****
:P
-
i am not against the land just i think all cool animals should be able todefend them selfs like the dragon it can fly it is cool and it can kill.
-
So everything has to fly to be cool???
some things dont fly, and ZellGa\'dess wants a Lerren to ride around!
-
i i just think it would be better it had wings it possibly couldnot be able to use them like a dodo or a penguine but wings would make it look cooler.
-
Ack! This is my creature! Let me deside :( And I deside...
If it has to have wings the winged ones can be seperate... O.o
EDIT: Oh I don\'t know! I\'m going to draw one with wings to see what it looks like.
-
If everything on planeshift had wings, the novelty of riding a winged animal would soon decrease. I think that the lerren would make a great land animal for transport, particularly as a sort of mid-range option for players that can\'t afford to purchase a flying creature such as a dragon or pterosaur.
As for the colour, I don\'t think that brown suits. Maybe a more dashing bright white/silver colour would be nice.
-
i am aware that this thing would be takeing over the horse but i was saying that it should have wings not that it should fly i kno that wings imply that something should fly but i never said that it can fly did i.
-
wouldnt it give a more bumpy ride and be harder to ride than a horse because it has the body of a predator and its legs are in a different orientation?
-
What do you meen by, legs in a different orientation? I don\'t get it. I modeled the body and legs from my cats... So I gess it would be like riding a cat. :P But horses are verry bumpy too unless you know how to rise to the trot.
-
orientation or measures, the legs are like humans, check your cat legs, they look like if she walks on tiptoe and the ball of the feet is far apart from floor(tarsian bones are longer than in humans), in spite of humans and bears animals doesn?t put all the plant of feet on floor.
your model have human foot ;)
arms in most of cuadrupeds works diferent from humans, they also walk on tipfingers and carpian bones are longer, so looks like if they have a knee in the arms.
that is the issue about orientation, your model it?s like having legs and arms backwards, or swaped their anatomy.
but as long as this is fantasy... who cares about it!!!, for me is a superb antropomorfic biped being walking on four legs. ;)
-
..... Riiiiiiiight, i\'l just pretend I understood that :P
But, yeah. I think I get what your trying to say.
-
thought i wud give a try at coloring yer lerren heres wat i got:
DELETED FOR REPOSTING
-
Cool... I like the way you did the eyes. Hmm... I don\'t know about the colour though... What dose everyone else think?
-
I\'d have to say that I think the blue tinge looks really cool, but I think that you should make it a little less blue - it looks too bright.
-
ill try agen :)
-
its a little lighter now
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Dragonguy999/Lerren.jpg)
-
Thats almost perfect !
The lerren certainly looks cool. My mind would say that the body and head should be lighter still, but in the Planeshift world things could be different.
-
i think that blue is to overwhelming maby a deep drown of something else i just think that blue stands out 2 much.

Great creature satha!
pfft thats MY backup on \"spectacular colors\"
-
Hmm.... Maybe they can range in colours from brown to pink, blue, green, white, orange... ect...
-
I agree, Satha.
Think of most real world animals (eg horses) - they can be many different coulours. Lerrens should also be different colours.
Perhaps some could even be secondary colours or multicoloured (eg spotted).
-
ok
ill make a few more later...

Here\'s another version
-
Nice colours! Looks verry good, I like it. :)
EDIT: But they don\'t have noses like that.... :P
-
My Bad.
