Title: General Model Smoothing & More
Post by: Kortuk on November 07, 2004, 06:39:12 pm
hello

i suggest you implement b-spline or similar techniques for \'slightly\' rounder surface rendering of the three-d-models;
just like in qua*e III.

a gfx-engine that supports a shader system is appreciable.

for \"future\" versions of PS i suggest in addition an honestly meant thought on sub-surface scatteing.

hud appears to be far too impractial; work has to be done.

i hope the next update will be out soon, otherwise you will lose fans, and in addition this will cause a negative flow of things. so keep up the work guys and show the people @ sourceforge what you can do! ;)

greetings
kortuk

Hello Kortuk, you should really check the main site occasionally you know?
Go here (http://www.planeshift.it/main_01.html) and you will find details about progress, and screenshots of Crystal Blue which is \"the next version.\"
The GUI, or \'HUD\' is much better, Molecular Blue\'s GUI was only ever intended to be temporary, as there was no need for skills or anything as they were not implemented.
As for the release of Crystal Blue, if you shut up and don\'t \'jinx\' (is it a y or an i?) it, it will be an early Christmas present.
I answered you this time, next time, please use the search option.

welll ... the gui wasnt really my prior problem, but thanks.

the rest i proposed should be seriously considered to make the game outstanding. but as it seems ... the engine is so far that it cant accept any heavy changes.

The engine PS uses, Crystal Space, is under constant development and improvement by the CS dev team. I have no idea whether any of the technologies you suggested are supported by Crystal Space, but if you want to get anywhere with this, you should ask them, not us. ;)

Bare in mind, also, that this is a MMORPG, which already uses plenty of system resources as it is. I would personally rather the devs add content, rather than pixel-shaded normal mapping whateverelse lag. :P
