I\'m a real fan of roman architecture and want to ask if u could build a city in roman stile. Also some Tree-Cyties would be cool!
-
Hmm, well, lemurs might like roman-like architecture. But I would be more pleased to see something more original and creative, a new style of architecture.
-
As far as I know, Rome will not be in Planeshift, therefore, Planeshift will not have roman architecture.
Oh Hey, how \'bout Yliakum style... just a thought.
*bangs head against wall*
-
I think it\'s safe to say the devs will make seperate architectural styles for different groups or areas in the game. I think they know that individual architectural styles are a must in a good game. As for Roman architecture, it\'s vaguely possible you may see some architecture that was influenced a bit by Roman architecture, but I can almost promise you it will look much different. These are the devs that don\'t even want dragons in game, so you can bet they won\'t just up and make perfect copies of architectural sytles.

Well, Europe as a whole is not in Yliakum is it? Yet the current buildings have a very European feel to them, many seem to be British architecture in fact.
I don\'t think that rule can solely apply to one culture and not another. They already use designs from one culture, why not from another culture?
I feel that all buildings should be custom, but the devs are following known trends, and that is their choice to make. I only hope each area has it\'s own style.
You\'ll likely find that all architecture in games is inspired by real architecture.

Well i for one always tought that archirecture in ps would be some what \"steam punked\" victorean(sp) styled with out the technology + rural areas.

Wait... You mean British houses actually have four walls and doors and windows? Incredible! I just hope Britain isn\'t going to sue the PS team for making houses that look like houses... Duh. :)
Anyway, no Roman. It just wont happen.

Actually, they indeed are very european. If you look at medieval China, their architecture was quite different than the european one, so there indeed is a difference between having four walls and architecture.

Thankyou Seytra, I thought that reply was somewhat offensive... So I never replied...

I think tree cities would be cool, but an original type or architecture would be better, maybe a style similar to what is in the game, the tall spiky gothic style, and make it flatter and longer, like ancient scandinavian sod houses.

Of course when we start making the architecture like something else, it no longer is original. :O
-
Ice, we\'ve already discussed that the architecture is not currently original as it is.
-
Whatever the arcitecture looks like some one some where will say that it looks slightly similar to one type or another.

Thats debatable... The Laanx Temple is very original, so is the tower.
And you can come up with some perfectly original architectures. Like, for example, in Morrowing, those buildings that look like turtle shells. Those are cool. At that huge city complex built on the water. Architecture can and should be original in PS.
-
I acually thought of the temple immediately after posting that, but never edited it.
I could be petty and say it looks like the Temple of Nod. If you know what that is. Do you?
I like the PS architecture even though they are standard buildings.
My one hope is for species related Architecture. I don\'t think race is the right word.
None of the species/races should live in similar housing, unless they were in a major city where the architecture was all the same.
-
Considering that all of Yliakum is populated by all PS species / races, they will have created a common architecture over time. So I\'d expect only ancient buildings to have different styles, and newer ones be of one common but mixed style. The submerged levels will of course feature location-specific architecture.
I don\'t think the Laanx temple looks much like NODs temple, at least not the one in Tiberian Sun. Maybe we can, however, sneak in an Obelisk Of Light? *hummmmmmmmmmmm* :D
-
I meant the original Command and Conquer. It doesn\'t look very similar at all in fact, it\'s just shaped like a crustacean.
I wouldn\'t mind an obelisk of light.
maybe that\'s what the Azure Sun is, and why no one can get close?
Surely there are some race/species populated towns as well as major cities?
