This was brought to my attention today, I didn\'t find this out on my own, I\'m mearly re-telling it to you.
If you are using windows XP open up explorer
then goto your windows folder
then follow these folders:
WINDOWS\\Help\\Tours\\WindowsMediaPlayer\\Audio\\Wav
Now right click on one of the .wav files there (preferablly the smaller ones) and open it in notepad. Scroll to the very bottom.
Notice something strange?
Sound Forge 4.5? Deepz0ne?
Deepz0ne is founder of a audio software cracking group called Radium.
There you have it, Microsoft is using a pirated version of Sound Forge to make windows. Sue! Sue!
I dont use winXP but maybe you can find something
Some friends found it too

Ok, now comes the 1 million $ question. Do you have a legal copy of Windows? Or a \"cracked\" one? lol

What if you have a legally burned copy of it :P
-
err, yea that works :P
Well, if you have a cracked version, it\'s not hard for the ones who \"played\" with the program, to insert everything they want in every place they want ;)
Don\'t ask details :P

Anyone remember DoubleSpace? This was an online harddisk compressor (DOS 6.0). It turned out that Microtheft was using the algorithm that the program \"Stacker\" used. M$ was sued and lost. So M$ changed the algorithm and brought us DriveSpace (DOS 6.2). Needless to say, DriveSpace had the serious flaws you\'d expect from M$ products that DoubleSpace was lacking mysteriously... :)
So yes, it would fit their profile. However, in this case it might just be the case that the developer who created these files was using the pirated program, so it isn\'t necessarily M$\'s fault this time.
On a somewhat related note, I wonder how many of Microthefts servers run Linux... :P
-
Wow i never knew how many ppl have burned or got XP illegaly!!! You thieves :D
-
yeah how dare you have illegal copies of windows! *shifts eyes around room*
-
wow! yet another reason for me not to touch that M$ filth ever again
-
I have a legit copy of XP, and that file still contains that, so it wasn\'t added by crackers.
Umm, my advice, don\'t talk online about your illegal XP... not too brilliant.
-
never underestimate how far M$ can go when there is money to save...
oh, and did you know that M$ programs parts of windoze with HP-unix?

No, that I didn\'t know. However, I was wondering whether they would be stupid enough to use their own buggy and insecure software for internal development. Of course, they are forced to use it for public things (imagine http://www.microsoft.com running on Apache!), but for the really important things I\'d certainly use something more adequate than windoze.
Edit: Well, except they fell for their own propaganda and actually believe that windows is a good OS. :P
