Title: Needa Band Name

right well me and friends decided we\'d try to put together a lil garage band and what do you know a year and half later we\'re still together not to awful bad but switch names quicker than....well you get the idea. right now we\'re at \"add a stroke\" and \"throttle in a bottle\". Its an emo band not that it really makes a diffrence but any help we can get is really apriecated thanks guys.

How about some generic like \"The Tonkas\" or \"The Doves\" maybe \"The RedStripes\"

How about \"The homocidal pankakes\" or \"The flying chikens from Venus\" or \"One more step until im over the edge and fall to my death in which I shall go down  to hell once I am dead\" Your fans could call you O.M.S.U.I.O.T.E.A.F.T.M.D.I.W.I.S.G.D.T.H.O.I.A.D  :D
But actual good band names... Heart Beat? Tepris? Holy Death? Ah I dont know..

Well.. This was actually name of a song but you get the idea even it is in finnish cause of my crappy explanation -.-

It can mean \"Hell of a good shepherd\" or \"Hells good shepherd\".. I hope you get the point ;)

It just has the sound of irony.

Seriously just throw some words together that don\'t seem like they fit or some type of weird action.
Like \"The Homicidal Pancakes\"
or...
the flaming toasters
launching water ballons
you know stuff like that.

That is if you dont like Strongbad\'s ideas.

Seriously, here is the answer to your problems.
__________ (obscure adjective) ________ (common noun or verb) eg. (not real) Colloquial Aspirin
This should get you a great name. Or go for a phenomenon or impossibility. Some bands can settle for just a noun, like my beloved \'Tool\'.

You could also use
__________ (noun/adjective/verb) __________ (noun/adjective/verb).
eg. Dashboard Confessional, Alkaline Trio etc.

Or even a phrase you like.
Taking Back Sunday or A Fire Inside

Or, you could always revert to pop culture you enjoy.
\"Transformers\"

Science names are a little outdated but can still work.
The Allan Parson\'s Project, The Manhatten Project etc.

Or go with some disfiguring illness or disease.
eg. Leprosy or Tuberculosis.

Emo bands tend to follow a certain trend, and not choose happy names. So...
Defunct Reality
Past Life Regression (I like that phrase, think the theory is stupid, could be made Past Life Depression or Repression),
(add some psychological things)
Oedipus Complex (wouldn\'t recommend)
Pavlov\'s Dogs (think this is taken)
Operant Conditioning
Hidden Observer (to do with the consciousness during hypnosis)
The Answer is 42 (not explaining this, everyone who reads english should know it)
Theoretical Construct
Kenshin\'s Blade (anime influence)
Loki\'s Revenge (Norse Mythology)

Most of these are bad examples, but I have a lot on my mind right now, sorry. I just couldn\'t manage to think of any I really liked, except for Past Life Depression (very emo.)
Also, find very obscure nouns. There is a Japanese band I like with a song called The Nepenthes (which I think sounds cool).
A nepenthes is a venus fly trap-like plant.

I had forgotten about Strongbad. Ahh memories.

I have heard of a band called \"The Transformers\" and also \"Loki\'s Revenge\" but I really like the ideas. Much better then the way I was trying to poorly describe it.

you could use Oxymorons

OXYMORON: \"A rhetorical figure in which an epigrammatic effect is created by the conjunction of incongruous or contradictory terms\"
E.G. words like, synthetic natural gas, paid volunteer, conservative liberal,  unbiased opinion, dangerously safe, successful suicide, original reprint, non-alcoholic beer and definite maybe. These are all oxymorons.

I\'m very sorry for the thread resurrection, but I found something that is too much fun to pass up.  It\'s a 3 word band name generator.  Link here (http://www.angryblue.com/bandname_generator.shtml).  I can totally see up and coming bands taking any one of the names it generates.  Have fun.

(no flaming here) how bout a less inmature name that sounds good and not like the wiggles or some kid band hehe. well i guess its how you interpret good as but oi.

a metal band = metallica
ahh that one flows and sounds good

system of a down = a good multiple word one (of coarse its taken alreadey) but those are the types of less direct noun names.

anyways yea oi yea.
