----------------------------------------------------------------------
Summon Name: Eldirin
Summon Element: Non-Elemental
Description: An extremely sky blue male lion with a dark blue mane with strange white-colored writing going down its tail. But since he\'s in a spirit form, he\'s also translucent at the sametime.
History: Eldirin was a pet of Vodul, always loyal and always caring to him. But one day Eldirin was given a choice to be with Vodul or join the people of Yliakum. Eldirin knew that the people of Yliakum needed a protector to protect their lands. Vodul released Eldirin and became a spirit roaming the lands of Yliakum, and whenever someone is in trouble and has the power to use summons, he will aid them.
Attack: Eldirin pounces on the enemy, claws the enemy 3 times, and bites him once.

Egads not another wishlist thread :D
Summon Name: Strylian
Summon Element: None
Description: A large white bird with long plumage that seems to glow like the crystal.
History: Strylian was created when Laanx was disfigured, drawing on the harmonious power that once held Talad and Laanx together Strylian bestows life on those who call on it.
Attack: None

Summon Name: Locusts
-
Description: Summon a large cloud of locusts that fiest on your enemy. The entire swarm acts like a superorganism, never parting from each other and move as one. The size of the swarm depends on your magical strength. Experts can create a cloud of the pests the size of a castle.
History: These locusts were the result of freak matting season that caused a famine in the Yliakum. After seeing what devistation was caused by these tiny insects, Talad made it possible for his magicians to use this power in their aid. Laanx soon followed.
Attack: The cloud of locusts will surround the enemy in a buzzing fog, chewing them into bits. Each locust will cause a very small amount of damage, but keep in mind that there may be hundreds into the thousands. Attacking them will cause the swarm to loose locusts, and they will continue to attack until they are all dead or have few remaining.

I don\'t think there should be any \"summoning\" in planeshift. It\'s been done in WAY too many MMOs. Anything involving an animal on your side is considered summoning nowadays and I\'m sick of it. If we do anything we should have an alternate plane open up, and have some wierd creature walk out. If you don\'t have the animal handling ability it attacks you too. Sorry to get a bit OT there but I seriously detest these things coming into the PS world after a major objective of PS is to be different.
As far as this thread goes, its more of a \"create-a-creature\" thread than anything else. Let\'s just wait untill some more creatures are released to the public before we get into this stuff, eh kuiper?

Summons (although I know they are of older origin) simply scream Final Fantasy to me. I love the Final Fantasy games, but I say leave Square Enix\'s ideas alone people.
-
Yeah, indeed it sounds like FF to me, but it IS a cool idea tho.
To Dannythompson: Indeed, summoning is done in alot of MMO\'s, but in most of em it\'s an already existing hostile animal that is summoned to fight for you. What these people are suggesting are completely new creatures that you will never find running around attacking you, and that gives it a slightly different meaning.
This is a cool idea, but I don\'t know if it is realistic...mweh..it\'s a bit of scripting, some new creatures to be created...Dunno..
-
Danny, when it comes down to its base point, its summoning. Adeli it doesn\'t say the word summoning is copyrighted by square-enix. It\'s not square-enix\'s idea...even thought I know your not directly saying that so thereof...

Summoning can be cool and original, but I think it should be reserved for very skilled players in [whatever magic Way is required to summon]. Summoning should be rare, powerful, and render a character defenseless/incapacitated for a while. Seeing a creature/demon being summoned should be an aweful sight, make the screen shake, the sky darken, the NPCs flee in terror (or draw close in awe of beauty). Summons wouldn\'t do the typical \"immediately find a nearby hostile and kill it\", rather await instruction from its summoner, or protect it from attack.
Hey, a girl can dream. :)

so Moogie do you have a dream summon, like if you could make one up and make it come true, what would it be like?
