Ok so CB is not out yet.
How are YOU gonna pass the time?
I happen to be highly skilled in: passing the time, killing the time, wasting my time, frittering away my time, and wasting your time.
So I made this guide entitled \"Passing the time for dummies.\"
What is the situation?
Here\'s the story so far, we are all MMORPG fans, that\'s why we\'re here. We\'ve all been gifted enough to stumble upon this once-in-a-lifetime gem, Planeshift. The only problem is that it\'s not out now. But none of us wanna give up our hopes in this amazing game do we? Sure, you can roleplay, but that gets boring after (four years, I believe?) so now we need to pass the time.
Analysis
I\'ve spent the greater part of today, researching MMORPGs, games, anything that will entertain until the release of CB. And here\'s what I found:
The greater majority of free MMORPGs, lack quality, some of these include Eternal Lands, Spoonscape (R u n e s c a p e), and Ogreisland.
From here I had to make a choice: waste my time getting into the crappy ones, OR find high quality games.
I chose the latter.
So here\'s where my real investigation began. I began by searching forums, lists, anything that would be a valuable resource. It was slim pickings. But, by the end of the day I have come to this conclusion.
Why do we need fully free games? I mean, we\'re just passing the time until CB releases, so here\'s a list I\'ve assembled with free TRIAL versions of games I hope you will all enjoy.

Well, this game boasts a 9.1 or \"Superb\" from the revered www.gamespot.com. I haven\'t played yet, you see, it has a large file size, gonna take me 8 hours to download, but looks like it might be worth it.

Haven\'t played this one yet, have heard little feedback, but SUPPOSED to be ok.
Uhhhhhh, yeah that\'s it, I said quality not quantity.
Tell ya what I will try to do more research and update my list further.

thats funny, i was also searching for more free games last night. i didnt get very far tho, as i soon remembered that playing StarCraft B.net is still free, so... thats where most of my spare time goes now. (better spent than doing homework, wouldnt you say :) )

RoE is a ton better than RS. RS doesn\'t even have party or guild-support. The combat in RS is sickening.

Agreed. I should slap my friend for asking me to play RS. (He stayed up till 3 AM playing it!!)
I never said RS was better than RoE. I said it was a little reminiscent.

Yeah, I have a few friends playing RS as well. Ive been trying unsuccessfully to convert them. RS is addicting though. I used to play it quite a bit before I finally came to my senses. Now I can\'t stand it.

You think you were adicted to it... i became absesed wtih it! LIke 10 hours a day of it now i wana die. And in spare time do homework :))

Ah, you too! What level did you finally realize it was pointless? I think I stopped at 60 something. I finally quit after mining thousands of coal. Looking back, I realized I wasted hours of nothing but clicking, and would waste hours smithing it all.

Only other ames I need (or play) cept PS are Warcraft 3 TFT, and anything on my gamecube.
Warcraft has so many different games in it online that its hard toget bored of it.

Yep warcraft is the way to go. Online kiks butt since there is a huge variety of dfferent games on it
I also just try to make myself signatures in my spare time...with paint ;(
So that turns out to be sad so i just end up game hopping for a while :P

Also Myrtl: I made my Sig in paint, with Freehand drawing. It isn\'t that hard. I might make it \"stunning\" some day, but I am too lazy. :P

I haven\'t been to homestarrunner in a while.
I go to CAD and Nuklear Power almost daily.
Tim Buckley and Brian Clevinger are great.
This thread made me laugh. People do need to spend more time not waiting for CB.
My advice, get a girlfriend/boyfriend/friend!

Conquer online is terrible, when my brother perswaded me to play I found it boring. You had to be powerleveled by elite people to get anywhere and the Entire Game revolves around the fact that there is open PK.

wo ho that sounds bad. So a uber pro dude could just come up to you and take your head off with a sword and you can only stand there and pray? Open PK games are soooo bad becuase pros take advantage of everyone!

i wont be bored for a good long time, tells those dev\'s to take their sweet time and make us a GOOD game :)
im doing alot of research on 3d, taking some courses and getting serious. Hopefully soon i will be able to apply for the team.

Probablt still going to be bored. Servers crashed on first day of release after about 15 hours. Also went down again today and they haven\'t been able to get them reset for the last 4.

Hmm i bet people are uber pissed off after getting the game and being excited and all and then having the servers crash. Wow if i had the game id go on a rampage. :P As time goes on Blizzard will learn how to keep the server up though ;)

I miss my WoW beta, and it\'s not out here yet, and my DAoC has gone stupid on me, damn you Mythic! I do have NFS: Underground 2 to keep me occupied with pretty cars, and I have KOTOR to finish as a sith lord.
If all else fails, I\'ll start over in Fallout 2, or continue my character. He\'s a low level, and deals over 300 dmg with his fists! I can kill things by aiming at their head, quite often I crush their brains, it\'s great!
Ohh, and there is GTA San Andreas.

hehe I just got WoW today and i think i managed to get one of the few servers that was up. now i can resurect my beta characters and destroy all that would appose me.
aside from that most of my time is playing rts and other games

Myself, I play counterstrike most of the nites. I even brought in another cs player here to MB. I check in when I can visit with some of the toons.
But the above link should give you some good ideas to look for other rpgs or betas.

They can be great if played right though. Like if people don\'t take advantage of the open PK.

then for xmas im getting doom 3 halo 2 Kotor 2 and gtasa
the year of the sequals seems fairly accurate for my start of the new seson of gaming :|

I still play and enjoy RS. It is nothing compared to PS but I like it. I sometimes can\'t get into PS so i switch over to RS. I don\'t really care about what you guys say, I like both games.
But i like PS a lot more.

what about Rubies of Eventide? its comparable some of the mediocre pay to play games out there, and its ABSOLUTELY FREE!! i give it a 10/10 for a free game, in its current state, and in PS\'s current state ROE beats PS hands down, but i like the community here more, and i feel this game has more pottential to expand into something wonderfull, so i stick around!

Knight Online is terrible, all you do is power-level. Honest.
Sure, there are quests to do, but they are nowhere near \"fun.\"
I uninstalled it within two days of downloading it in sheer disgust of how poor the gameplay is. Walk up to a enemy, click, sit back and watch it die.
Hell, you can even go up to the map bounds. and climb 80 degree NEAR VERTICAL slopes. As well, PvP - supposedly the games saving grace - comes in VERY late in the game. You have to ensure you have the absolute best armor and weapons otherwise the other team will kill you nearly instantly. Ugh.
Terrible...
[That said, it is free.
But then, i guess you get what you pay for. In this case, nothing.]

so itas tottaly free? 100%?
anyways i ben playin wow for a few days and its the best! im a lavel 15 Gnome warlock, and the quests are wicked fun, most of the time. although you dont really get anywhere just fighting monsters... you can hardly level up.the only way to get anywhere in th egame as far as levleing goes is to do your quests>. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the WoW beta.
I had a nice Night Elf hunter, and only started to PvP towards the end of the beta.
I got to level 16, most of which came from questing.
Optional PvP and no xp for PK are brilliant in WoW. There are still the occasional jerks who kill steal, but the respawns are generally fast (I did wait three times for one boss, each time over half an hour, but that was the only slow spawn, once for myself, twice helping others.)
I recently borrowed GTAVC off a friend who just got GTASA (great games both), so that will occupy me as I finish it again, but I will try to do more this time.
I recently got Lineage 2, and I can play Halo 2 as well.
I doubt I\'ll be bored.
CB can take as long as the devs want. I\'d even be fine with another year.

I agree, RoE is good. I\'ll still play sometimes when I\'m not playing PS of course.

i dunno about another year, but i a few months would be ok.. HEY WAIT, why cant they release CB and then keep making it beter and better with like streaming or something? or release small patches, let us play with all the bugs, and just keep updating? that way we wouldnt have to wait for months and months and years and years for the new release

If anyone ends up playing on the Alleria server, central time zone I\'m on there as an Alliance Warrior as Boldstorm. Level 25 so far and getting pretty good at blacksmithing so if ya need anything I can help ya out.

Nope, that just depends on the server you chose to start with, i also reccomend joining a guild as soon as possible, its lot of fun then.
you can own a house, fight, and you can even dance.
i like it, haven\'t played it in a while though.
