Title: Interface
Post by: ConMan on December 02, 2004, 07:06:07 am
I was wondering what everyone else thought about the interface of the new release thats coming out. From the screenshots it doesn\'t look too bad, but it doesn\'t seem very convenient or sleek. And is there a quickbar of any kind?

(AFAIK) the \"quickbar\" is on the top and you can see it in the new screenshots and it\'s highly customizable! :]

sleekness? hmmm, all it needs is a little skinning,  that\'s all ;) - minor changes. the importaint part is that it\'s very informative and functional!

Yes, I\'m sure Cyris and the like will begin making cool mods for this version as soon it is out. Don\'t worry there will be many options for your interface once us modders get to work ;)
Title: all IS possible

When you have something that is opensource all is possible.  You could change the client to look whatever way you wanted, though it might (will is probably more accurate) take hard work and have plenty of bugs.

One could even create a client that looked similar to rouge, though it would severly impare or more likely make impossible, gameplay.  But the thing is that it could be done.

Now there are limitations and restrictions caused by what the server needs from the client and what it sends to the client but aside from that the sky is the limit, though this does not apply to Yliakum\'s sky ;)

The bar along the top is the menu bar. This is not customisable, afaik.

However, there is a shortcut menu going down the left side of the screen. This contains many slots where anything can be assigned/scripted to it. It comes with several default commands such as Attack, Trade, Greet, etc. :)

I wouldn\'t want top pass judgement on it until I actually got to use it.

Will there be a way to have a separate windows for say guild chat, magic casting, attacks, private tells etc.  Or will you at least be able to change the color of the text so you will know what it is.

Once of the things I noticed, one of my room mates plays EQ and has for about 3 years.  He has his UI set up so that all magic casts are sent to a separate transparent window and he can just run his mouse over it to see what is going on etc.  He can then customize guild chat, personal tells, etc with different colors of text.

I think that would be a great feature to break down different actions chats to different windows with in the UI.

Sorry if this has all ready been addressed, or has been said on a previous post.  You cant tell just from the screen shots weather or not this will be possible.

Thanks
