For those poor saps who aren\'t smart enough to do that, here\'s a quote.

Thanks to the help of Daniel Fryer, our MacOSX developer, the alpha Mac distro is ready for testing!

We need some testers with good Mac hardware to participate in the alpha phase 2. Please send us (info@planeshift.it) an email with this info: name, country, age, hardware, operating system version. Please submit your email only if you have a good internet connection, the download is about 250Mb.

We will pick the first 20 emails. Happy testing!

Lol, when I saw that in my e-mail I replied to the list right away (cause they didn\'t have a link in the e-mail)...and then I was like, wait, is the list the right one? So I replied to Luca, who sent the message to the list.

Then I went to the website and discovered that neither of those were correct, so I sent it to the right one. And then I realized that Luca is the person at the right one, so I ended up sending two to the right one. So then I sent another saying, ignore one of those, sorry for double-posting...So overall, you\'ll be getting 4 e-mails from me, lol.

Sorry about the spam guys!!!

Anyhow, I\'m really excited, and I hope I get on!!

-Gabe

ooo! ooo! ooo!
I can\'t wait!
I really hope to be one of the Mac testers!
I ended up first replying to the mailing list, then emailing the info@ email.
Hopefully one of those gets to the right place.

I was a big time UO player back in the day, and was even a beta tester.  Everything else I\'ve tried has been found lacking. :(
I\'m looking forward to seeing how Planeshift does, and really hoping to help be a part of the testing! :D

As long as all Planeshift testers understand what they\'re testing - a tech demo put together by volunteers, and in the case of the Mac OS/X version, fairly untested on the platform.

Testing isn\'t that exciting... :P 80% of the closed alpha testers got bored after a week or two, since most people joined because they think \"ooh ooh I\'ll get to play the game sooner than anyone else!\" which, of course, isn\'t the reason the devs are doing this. You\'re not getting to play the game, you\'re getting to test/report/reproduce bugs/crashes/errors, over and over again. The game world is not how it will be when CB is released to the public and many things are still missing and/or broken.

I guess all I\'m saying is just don\'t join this with the wrong idea.

Play the game??
*chuckles*

:P

Testing is really boring/annoying/infuriating/insert word here

So you gotta be 1337 to do it :P

ARE YOU  UP TO THE CHALLENGE???!!

(ok, that was cheesy :D)

Anyway, see you mac testers ingame.

JW, when should I get the reply? I sent in my application last night around 9:00 PM EST. Also, if I didn\'t meet the requirements or I\'m too young(I\'m 13) will I be told that?

You won\'t be told if you don\'t get in. If you havn\'t gotten an email yet, then I don\'t think you\'re in.

Heh, I had a bit of trouble replying to the wrong people, but I think I got it straightened out.  I am very excited about being a beta tester, and I hope to have some great times along with helping out!

There\'s a general one at the bottom. You can\'t miss it.

I think that\'s more like a PS. note then a signature, there doesn\'t seem to be a signature line.

Other companies betas often give a mis-conception since those games really are full versions.

For those new to the game and testing, it might be a good thing since they don\'t know what to expect.

Testing for bugs can be annoying but some seem to enjoy it. Only annoying bugs are those being long winded ones, in the case of an IRC daemon, if you send a specific sequence of commands one after another there is a small chance that something will hit a snag and crash the server(this hasn\'t happened on a public irc server yet).

I\'m an alpha tester! Woot!
Now when I come home from testing enterprise software all day, I can test game software, too!
Does it get get any grander than that?
well ok... not having to test enterprise software all day would be nice! :P

I personally don\'t see whats so boring about testing, then again, its what I do as a career and as a hobby.  :D

Use the \"search\" button and you\'ll find out that you can\'t have an avatar because you\'re not one of the Chosen Few.

Aurora:  There is no prospective release date or ETA, and there won\'t be one.  It will be done when it is done.  Also, in the future use the edit button, don\'t double post.

I don\'t know of any other game that supports the three main OSs. Amazing isn\'t it...
Title:
Post by: Aurora on December 14, 2004, 09:11:43 am
That it is ....
i cant wait :D
It is great when they make a game that supports different OSs, and whats more its a good game and it is great the fact that everyone will be playing with everyone else.... like its not a seprate game for each console...
