Title: Sleeping when leaving
Post by: Toadhead on December 10, 2004, 10:32:56 am
What about this, when you stop playing PS you\'ll go sleeping but you won\'t leave the game!

Everybody will be able to steal your items and kill you when you sleep.

Why? Well.. people will need to buy a house to sleep in so they don\'t need to worry about it. They can also hire a house becuase it would be too expensive to buy one for the most people. New people should get a \"Newbie Inn pass\", to get 1 free room at the \"Newbie Inn\" for 1 whole month. Than they will need to search for their own place to sleep.

When in a forest with alot of creatures the creatures might attack you when you sleep. Other poeple should be a problem becuase they mgiht not be able to find you in the forest.
Were should be a skill \"camping\", you\'ll able to buy wood for fire etc. to set up a camp. When you set up a camp you and other people can sleep at this camp. All creatures will be affraid by the fire so they won\'t attack the people.

Ofcourse the world of PS is big, and your house is located in your \"hometown\". You could stay in this town forever, but adventures might want to check out more places. For them they can use \"Inns\", they can pay for a few nights and than they can sleep there a couple of days. This is ofcourse expensive but it\'s only for a few days ofcourse.

You will have normal civillianz if I say it right becuase my English suck, and travelers. Once you stay in a town you will know everybody in that town after a while, and when new people arrive you will know that it are travelers or just new people.

Well?
I think it would be kinda fun :)
This way houses and inns are realy important..

I always like small MORPG\'s, just becuase you know everybody in the game. With a big MMORPG, with like 1000 of players online everytime you won\'t know everybody and that sucks. With this you will know everybody in you\'re town, becuase you\'ll stay in one town for alot of time and won\'t leave becuase you\'re house is there. But if you want to meet new people you can always go to another town if you want and stay in a inn for a few nights.

*With 1 day, I mean 24 hours in the real world. So when you hire a room in a Inn you will need to leave the room (play PS) within the amount of days you payed for. If not they will kick you and all you\'re stuff out and everybody will be able to take it.

**attacking someone in a city is a criminal act, so when you rob a sleepy person you can be marked as criminal and they could put you into jail or something.
Sleeping in a city, just on the ground and not in a inn or house is also illigal so they could punish you too!

ow wait,
maybe it would be better that you\'re character will stay in the game for 1 hour after you left. Otherwise there will be alot of people trying out the game, think that it suck and than never play it again, and his char will stay in the game forever lol :P

ow btw,
Ofcourse all these sleeping persons are just NPCs that say \"ZZZzzzzz\", but with the HP and items of the real player.

The basic principle behind your idea has merit however there are some fundamental problems with this.

1) You are dropped or disconnected while in a city, so when you return to PS 20 minutes later you in prison.

2) Having people open to theft and death while they are offline will just cause grief among players because there will be people who are constantly robbing or killing offline players.  How would you like to go offline and then when you return you discover your short 20,000 tria?

3) By charging people tria to go offline (through purchasing a house or paying for a camp/inn) you will just turn people away because they will constantly be battling to make up the money the lost when the last went offline.

So as I said before good principle just the wrong way to do it.
