I just had a whacko idea!!! How about implanting really insane thing into planetshift?
Just hear me out, ok?
It is just basics actually... put stuff in that goes beyond fantasy, something that is just plain crazy...
For an example implant an visual illusions: it will be cool to see one thing and go closer and see another, or be fooled into a trap, or just plainly mezmarized, confused
Gravity Changes thought a PS map: Really wouldn\'t it be cool if someone walked on top of a bridge and you walked on the bottom, or greeted a friend who walked on the ceiling and you (in the same room) on the bottom
Places that did not follow any rules: half transperent walls, invisible portals, stuff levitating and rotating in a middle of nowhere, neverending chains of rooms (using the inviible portal effect), rooms that shift posititons (so one way would always be another), and the maps themself plainly describes as insane
Stuff Like that... yeah that would be freakin\' hard to code in Planeshift but hey that would really make our MMORPG siffer from the rest.... ---> I am not saying that everything should be that crazy just some places...
Thanx American McGee Alice!

How and where would this fit into the PS world? Alice in Wonderland, fine, but that\'s quite a different world... PS\'s intention isn\'t to be a \"through the rabbithole\" thing. :P

First of all alice in wanderland is stupid. The mature whacko pc video game contionuation is what i was talking about...

It would fit into.... ummm.... magic castle that belonged to a super powerfull mage? when you are trppped in a magical prison (by another player or monster) and want to get out?
A magical place where a powerfull secret is hidden? Mysterious places? I can think up more!
I am not sying that all of those ideas at once should be used... k?
Hmmm... rayman 2 is a good example also...

Ya I would love for a game to play mind tricks with me! That would be soo cool. But it would be next to impossable to do the gravity thing (im guessing) in ps. There would be like a zillion bugs to work out.
But anything that distorts the player o makes the players confused/los is fine with me :)

Some of the stuff you suggested would be cool in some sort of illusionary mages castle. But I can see some serious redesign of the PS engine (or at least several dirty hacks) to be able to achieve some of that stuff, which is something I would imagine would require a lot more manpower than is currently available to the PS team.

Ehhhh.... coding all this stuff in would be a lot of work... that is always a problem.... i\'ll just hope that one day this idea gets into PS...
-
It would fit in perfectly. It is perfectly possible for there to be another plane which is like this.
Expect it in 10-20 years :D

Abuction by offworlders, who conduct a series of bizarre \"tests\" via simulations to check the responses of residents of yliakum.
...or not.

Honestly if i were a game creator, Im not, Id seriously consider it because it sounds... SOUNDS... like itd be fun to make/ play with.... Also, the people would enjoy it ....
A+
Although... it sounds friggen hard 2 make .. i.e. maps that fit together would be like a puzzle... its actually alot harder to make 3d wierd maps like that than you probably think considering ive done alot of architecture, and a bunch of other 3d shit- its alota work!
-
That would make for an interesting Death Realm. I don\'t know how the PS devs are planning on doing the Death Realm, but it should be different than the world of the living.
-
I like the Death Realm idea. Just imagine how confusing it would be to get out of there! You go in one door, decide its not the right one, you go back, but then youre in a different room than the one you started, and if you try going back through the second door, well...

There would have to be patterns to those doors otherwise it would just be pure chance and incredibly frustrating. If you have ever played PoP (and finished it, or at least come close) think of the doors near the end of the game something like those ones would be better.

(From way back)
First of all alice in wanderland is stupid
I vehemently disagree.
On to the main point though, it is possible to do some neat \"space warping\" effects in crystalspace, with infinite hallways and the like. I am not sure what the vision of the map makers is, but I would agree that deathrealm or another plane might be appropriate for \"crazy tricks\"... but it really isn\'t high on the priority list.

http://jheer.org/blog/archives/000103.html that is what i want to see. especially with multiple people in it.
hacked this about a bit back. check the thread titled \"possibilities\"

Yeah that is what I mean, just.... I am not really keen on the idea of boring 3D (using many areas of differencial gravity) puzzle enviroment... If a puzzle thing like that will be implanted it should be more fun... no one would like a boring world...
PS,
Can moving things be implanted in PS map? Like a gear on the wall moving, or a tree swaying from side to side doe to the high winds, or a stream of water flowing downwards? - Just thinking, such stuff would be cool...
