Title: High End Hardware
Post by: kronarq on December 16, 2004, 11:33:04 am
After searching the forums for a while, I was unable to find anybody using higher end hardware. I am just curious what people are using and if PS has been tested on certain hardware.

I have:
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Abit A7N
PC3200 Corsair XMS Dual Channel Low-Latency (2x512mb)
Western Digital Raptor 74gb 10k rpm
Dual-Layer DVD Burner
BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC
Koolance PC3-410bk Water cooled tower
550w Power supply

ECS (forgot)
512 MS DDR 2100
Baracuda 40GB (all i know at the moment)
LG 52/32/52 CD-RW
Asylum Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128 MB DDR
3 CASE FANS/1 PCI FAN
350w PSU

see there.... not to bad, not the best... but it runs the games...!

Nice I think me and you have the two fastest computers here. LOL. What is your FSB set at? Are you running all devices on that FSB or just memory? Is there nobody testing PS with a G6800?

Where are all the P4 fanboys at?  It\'s not like them to miss a chance to brag about their overpriced hardware.

GUESS WHAT? I HAVE THE WORST PC HERE SO FAR!!!!!!!!!

1.3 ghz AMD Duron
Gigabyte GA-7VA Mobo
Onboard AC\'97 Audio sound
Radeon 9200 SE (AGP 8x)
256 megs of ram (DDR PC400)
20 gig HDD (7200 RPM)

Might I run that MB runs fine on it, except for screen lag looking at graphically rich things like the temple for about the first 20 seconds... then it speeds up to a decent pace.

My specs are...

Note: this computer is about a year old

2.167 GHz AMD Athlon XP 2700+

Geforce FX 6800 GT <---- WOOH! My bro just bought it for the computer!

1 GB RAM

Two 120 GB hard drives, one IDE, the other SATA

Cable internet, Highest recorded speed (p2p): 2MB/s

Actually, I\'m writing this on my Linux box, 700 MHz (can barely run GNOME :P), with a PCI video card. :shudders:

AMD Atholn XP 2600+

Asus A7V8X Motherboard w/ all the optional components

512 MB DDR333 RAM (was 768 MB, until a stick crapped out, and is soon to be 1.5 GB, when my Cristmas presents arrive :P)

120 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA Hard Drive

Gigabyte Geforce 6800 GT Graphics Card

It\'s a year or two old, but it\'s still a pretty beefy rig if I say so myself, once I get that new stick o\' RAM for Christmas. :) I know the CPU is a bit out of date, but I don\'t put all that much stock in CPU speed. I find that the graphics card and the RAM have more of a noticable effect on performance relative to cost.

Sorry  to the mods for post in wrong forums.... My intent was more so wandering how planeshift ran on athlon 64 bit and with geforce 6800 i know alot of other games have been having problems with the g6800 as far as like hitching and stuff.... Is anybody running 64-bit windows yet how is planeshift liking that?
