Title: Sware words in PS :P
Post by: Satha on December 19, 2004, 12:13:16 am: Okay, so.... I was thinkin\' that it would be nice to know what types of sware words there are in PS.
Like for example, I have herd of \'Mother of Talad!\' Or somthin\' like that.
So be creative, and let me hear em\'. :D
I think it would be cool for RP to beable to stub you toe or drop a sword, then you can sware and not offend someone on the other side of the world \'cus the sware is made up.... Or somthing along the lines of that.
Now... most sware words are based apon religion. So keep that in mind. :)

(I do hope there is not another thread like this :P I did look, but I couldent find anything.)

I think many will appear through RPing in game later and will come naturally.

They are known as oaths or curses (not magical) in fantasy... They are not generally to insult someone, but used when angry about something, or taken by surprise.

The Baldur\'s Gate games were full of them, as are most fantasy books. They usually relate to some religion as already stated, and often consist of the races\' God and an item of theirs, or some more general aspect.
\"By Moradin\'s Hammer!\" Is from BG, a dwarven Oath.
\"Sithspawn, and Emperor\'s Black Bones\" are curses from Star Wars.
I read a book that infringed heavily on the christian religion... and their curse was \"s\'Bloody tree\" or \"Aedin\'s Beard\" or \"Aedin\'s Bloody Tree\"

I think we should keep modern, common insults out of this.

I like the Trepor, Pterosaur and Crystal related ones, as well as the Laanx and Talad ones...

\"Lanx\'s Mask!\" could be used when startled.

Hmm I only remember the last word for sure, and it was \"sarrdh\", and I think the first one was \"Leeshol\", at least phonetically.
Leeshol el sarrdh?
But didnt it mean \"You have been marked\"? :)

I belive what you\'re thinking of is his way of letting people know he was telling the complete truth.. it was \"true as toasted toads\"..

as to curses and such..

how about keeping it simple and using something like:-

\"By the Gods!\"

silly i know, but i\'ve read several things where that was a common curse used in anger/surprise
